Sports Info Solutions: MLB DFS Advice for Wednesday, August 22nd

SIS

America’s pastime and daily fantasy sports are a perfect fit with an overload of data and statistics to analyze before making your lineup selections.

Because of the amount of information available to the DFS player, it can be a bit overwhelming, so I’ve tried to help you out by recommending a number of well-priced options by using Sports Info Solutions’ “SIS Model 3”.

SIS Model 3 gives DFS players an edge when setting their lineups as it uses the most expansive and accurate wealth of baseball data to create a tested DFS algorithm. You can learn more about the development of the algorithm in the RotoGrinders Marketplace.

Pitching Option

Jon Gray, Colorado Rockies (FD Price $8,600)

It’s not often you select a pitcher in Colorado, but Gray owns a high strikeout rate (10.52 K/9), which rises at Coors Field to 10.72. He faces a San Diego offense that overall owns a .292 wOBA and a high 25.3 K% and is a league-worst against RHP (.288 wOBA, 25.8 K%).

Hitting Options

C/1B) Ji-Man Choi, Tampa Bay (FD Price $2,500)

Choi owns a modest eight-game hitting streak and a .358 wOBA at home against RHP. He goes up against Jakob Junis, who has struggled against lefties, allowing a .384 wOBA on the road against LHB.

2B) Javier Baez, Chicago Cubs (FD Price $3,700)

Baez has done his best work on the road against LHP (.419 wOBA) and gets a struggling Francisco Liriano who is allowing RHB a .371 wOBA and all batters a .439 wOBA in August.

3B) David Bote, Chicago Cubs (FD Price $2,700)

Here is another righty to throw up against Liriano. Bote is batting .313 against LHP with a .381 wOBA.

SS) Andrelton Simmons, LA Angels (FD Price $3,000)

While Simmons owns a pedestrian .322 wOBA on the road against RHP, opposing starter Clay Buchholz is allowing RHB at home a .384 wOBA.

OF) Gregory Polanco, Pittsburgh Pirates (FD Price $3,600)

Polanco loves hitting against RHP in Pittsburgh (.391 wOBA) and that’s where the Pirates are hosting Atlanta. Julio Teheran has yielded a .345 wOBA to lefties on the road.

OF) Juan Soto, Washington Nationals (FD Price $4,200)

A leading candidate for NL Rookie of the Year, Soto owns a .389 wOBA against RHP. Opposing starter Zach Eflin is allowing a .367 wOBA to lefties on the road.

OF) Adam Eaton, Washington Nationals (FD Price $3,500)

Eaton struggles against lefties, but right-handers he can dominate with a .370 wOBA at home.

UTIL) Josh Bell, Pittsburgh Pirates (FD Price $3,000)

Teheran has yielded a .345 wOBA to lefties on the road, so the switch-hitting Bell gets the nod. Bell owns a .350 wOBA since the All-Star break.

Stacking Option

When it comes time to draft a fantasy baseball team in DFS, stacking is a widely accepted strategy. There’s a reason: it works. If you want to win big, you will need a gigantic score, and stacking makes it easier to rack up the points because the scoring of batters in a given lineup is interrelated. Batters reaching base allows the hitters down the line to drive them in, creating something of a snowball effect.

Washington Nationals — Sure they traded away Daniel Murphy and Matt Adams, but they still have plenty of firepower. We have started Soto and Eaton and if you can find room in your budget for Bryce Harper and Anthony Rendon, it could be a productive stack.
