Jerami Grant (knee) officially out Sunday
After multiple beat reporters mentioning different things, Grant was officially ruled out against the Chicago Bulls. Sekou Doumbouya will get the start in his place, as the Pistons will be down to nine healthy bodies. Expect more shots for Killian Hayes, Frank Jackson, Isaiah Stewart, and Sekou Doumbouya, as well as Sirvyidis off the bench.
As reported by: Keith Langlois via TwitterKyle Kuzma (back) ruled out Sunday
As expected, Kuzma was downgraded from doubtful with back tightness to out, and will miss the Lakers game against the Phoenix Suns. With no Kuzma, Lebron, and Schroder, the Lakers will be struggling to find offensive playmakers as they try to stave off the play-in game. Alex Caruso and Talen Horton-Tucker are both questionable; we are currently projecting them to start in place of Kuzma and Schroder. If they sit, it might be as many minutes as Ben McLemore and Wes Matthews can handle. Anthony Davis will be the clear top option for the Lakers, while Andre Drummond, Caruso, and THT should all be viable value pieces (assuming they all play).
As reported by: Ryan Ward via TwitterLineup update: Mavs will start Doncic, Richardson, Hardaway Jr., Finney-Smith, and Cauley-Stein Sunday
As expected, THJ gets the start in place of Kleber, as the Mavs roll with the starters that they’ve had the last few games. WCS gets the start at center; the Mavs have flip flopped between Powell and WCS, and they’ll likely split the minutes again.
As reported by: Chuck Cooperstein via Twitter Other tagged players: Tim Hardaway Jr.Daniel Theis (hip) ruled out Sunday
Theis was downgraded from questionable with a hip injury to out, and will miss the Bulls game against the Detroit Pistons. Coach Donovan mentioned that Theis hit his hip during the Bulls last game, and couldn’t go through shootaround. Thad Young should move into the starting lineup, with Lauri Markkanen another option. Both of them will have elevated minutes, while Patrick Williams may get a few more, and Denzel Valentine should re-enter the rotation to help fill out frontcourt minutes. Nobody sees major boosts up with Theis off the floor, but Vucevic should get a few more minutes and rebounds as well, and he and Zach LaVine will be the top options for the team as they both should soak up usage for the team.
As reported by: Chuck Swirsky via TwitterLineup update: Pelicans will start Ball, Bledsoe, Marshall, Johnson, and Hernangomez Sunday
Despite Jaxson Hayes playing more minutes last game, Hernangomez will get the start over Hayes Sunday. They should still split minutes down the middle, but it’s clear that Hernangomez has a higher upside now that he’s starting.
As reported by: the New Orleans Pelicans via TwitterKevin Love (knee) will play Sunday; Cedi Osman (ankle) and Isaiah Hartenstein (head) ruled out
As expected, Love will play, while Osman and Hartenstein were ruled out against the Dallas Mavericks. Wade now will start for Osman, with Damyean Dotson and Brodric Thomas as the key reserve off the bench. Darius Garland remains out, so the team will be stretched thin with no Osman. Hartenstein has been playing the backup center minutes behind Jarrett Allen, so now that he’s out, Allen could get a few more minutes, along with Wade and Love at the 5 as well. Collin Sexton will likely lead the team in usage and may play heavy minutes as a result of all the missing bodies.
As reported by: Chris Fedor via Twitter Other tagged players: Cedi Osman, Isaiah HartensteinDevonte' Graham (knee) ruled out Sunday; Malik Monk (ankle) available to play
The Hornets had two players questionable, but will only get one in the lineup as they prepare to play the New Orleans Pelicans. Monk was upgraded to available and will play through his ankle injury, but Graham was ruled out due to a knee injury that’s caused him to miss the last three games. With no Graham, Brad Wanamaker and Monk will have to chip in for more minutes, along with Caleb Martin. From a production standpoint, Terry Rozier sees a big boost with no Graham on the floor, along with PJ Washington and Wanamaker. LaMelo Ball, Rozier, and Monk and Wanamaker will all get some more production with no Graham, but Monk might be limited due to his ankle (although nothing was mentioned by Coach Borrego).
As reported by: the Charlotte Hornets via Twitter Other tagged players: Malik MonkMaxi Kleber (Achilles) ruled out Sunday
Kleber will miss his fourth straight game with an Achilles injury, as the Mavs prepare to play the Cleveland Cavaliers. With Porzingis still out due to a knee injury, it should be another start for Willie Cauley-Stein at center, while Tim Hardaway Jr. should move into the starting lineup, and have everyone slide up one position. THJ gets a minutes boost, as well as Josh Green. Luka Doncic will certainly lead the way for the Mavs, but they have options at different price points as their rotation gets concentrated with one less contributor.
As reported by: the Dallas Mavericks via TwitterKevin Love (knee) a game time decision Sunday; Cedi Osman (ankle) and Isaiah Hartenstein (head) doubtful
Love remains a game-time decision, but coach Bickerstaff mentioned that Osman and Hartenstein were closer to doubtful as they prepare to play the Dallas Mavericks. Wade now should start for Osman, with Damyean Dotson and Brodric Thomas as other options to fill in. Darius Garland remains out, so the team will be stretched thin assuming Osman can’t play. Hartenstein has been playing the backup center minutes behind Jarrett Allen, so if he does ends up sitting, Allen could get a few more minutes, along with Wade and Love at the 5 as well. Collin Sexton will likely lead the team in usage and may play heavy minutes as a result of all the missing bodies.
As reported by: Marla Ridenour via Twitter Other tagged players: Cedi Osman, Isaiah HartensteinJuancho Hernangomez (knee) ruled out Sunday
Hernangomez was downgraded from questionable with a knee injury to out, and will miss the Wolves game against the Orlando Magic. Hernangomez has been play around 23 minutes off the bench lately, and with Jaden McDaniels out due to personal reasons, the frontcourt is significantly shorthanded. Jarred Vanderbilt got the start last game and played 35 minutes, and should have to do so again. Naz Reid and Josh Okogie will also get more minutes, but it’s difficult to prioritize any of the bench players as coach Finch likes to prioritize his starters minutes. It should be more of Anthony Edwards, KAT, and D’Angelo Russell, while Vanderbilt will be one of the most popular values on the slate, and rightfully so.
As reported by: Alan Horton via TwitterBrandon Ingram (ankle) and Steven Adams (toe) ruled out Sunday; Nickeil Alexander-Walker (ankle) will play on a minutes limit
The Pelicans will be without Ingram and Adams as they prepare to play the Charlotte Hornets. They will get back NAW back, but coach Van Gundy said that he’d be “limited”, but he wouldn’t mention a specific number for him. With no Zion, Ingram, and Adams, the frontcourt for the Pelicans should consist of James Johnson, Naji Marshall, and Jaxson Hayes. Willy Hernangomez should help out at center, while Wes Iwundu will help chip in as well. With NAW back, Kira Lewis will likely lost some minutes, but possibly not too many right away, since he’ll be on a minutes restriction. The team should run through Lonzo Ball and Eric Bledsoe, while Johnson, Hayes, and Marshall will all be good values for a shorthanded Pelicans team.
As reported by: Andrew Lopez via Twitter Other tagged players: Steven Adams, Nickeil Alexander-WalkerLu Dort (knee) and Ty Jerome (calf) listed out Sunday; Aleksej Pokusevski (knee) and Theo Maledon (foot) listed questionable
The Thunder will be without a few key contributors as they prepare to play the Sacramento Kings. Dort and Jerome were both ruled out, while Pokusevski and Maledon were listed as questionable. Poku has missed the last three games for the Thunder, so being listed as questionable is an upgrade for him. Maledon has played every game for over two months, so his minutes would be tougher to fill, particularly with no Dort and Jerome. Svi Mykhailiuk and Charlie Brown would have to help fill in at guard, while Kenrich Williams also will have to chip in if Maledon sits, as the dearth of ballhandlers will make Williams valuable. With no Dort, Darius Bazley and Poku (assuming he plays) will help lead the team in usage.
As reported by: the Official NBA Injury Report Other tagged players: Aleksej Pokusevski, Ty Jerome, Theo MaledonMalik Monk (ankle) listed questionable Sunday
Monk left last the Hornets last game with an ankle injury, and is now listed as questionable ahead of the game against the New Orleans Pelicans. Monk was starting to become a big part of the rotation, before leaving last game after only playing 9 minutes. With Graham questionable to return, that would certainly take away some of the minutes as well from Monk. If Monk sits, Brad Wanamker and Caleb Martin would both play a few more minutes as well.
As reported by: the Charlotte Hornets via TwitterImmanuel Quickley (ankle) and Alec Burks (knee) ruled out Sunday
Quickley and Burks were both downgraded from doubtful to out, and will miss the Knicks matinee against the LA Clippers. Both players will miss their second game in a row; Quickley with an ankle injury, while Burks sits due to a knee injury. Coach Thibodeau prefers to keep his rotation tight, so it should be plenty of minutes for RJ Barrett, Reggie Bullock, and Derrick Rose, while Frank Ntilikina may chip in a few minutes as well. This will still be the Julius Randle show, while Barrett, Bullock, and Rose help supplement him.
As reported by: Stefan Bondy via Twitter Other tagged players: Alec BurksDaniel Theis (hip) listed questionable Sunday
Theis was listed as questionable with a hip injury as the Bulls prepare to play the Detroit Pistons. Theis has played 27 minutes the last two games that Nikola Vucevic has returned, and has lost the majority of his value now that LaVine is back as well. If he were to sit, Thad Young and Lauri Markkanen would pick up his minutes, with Denzel Valentine and Patrick Williams chipping in as well.
