DJ Wilson (health and safety protocols) ruled out Sunday

DJ Wilson (health and safety protocols) has been ruled out Sunday, the Rockets have Avery Bradley back but will still only have 9 available players. K.J Martin, DaQuan Jefferies, and Anthony Lamb should all see increased run off the bench with Wilson out and the starters should continue to see heavy run, it remains to be seen if Avery Bradley will be limited in any way upon his return. All Rockets players will see increased value strictly because of the playing time they will be forced to see Sunday against the Knicks.

Dennis Schroder (health and safety protocols) ruled out Sunday

Dennis Schroder has been ruled out Sunday ahead of the Lakers matchup with the Toronto Raptors. The Lakers could potentially be very limited with primary ballhandlers as Alex Caruso and Lebron James are both listed as questionable right now. Talen Horton Tucker has been used as a ballhandler off the bench at times and might be forced to play a much bigger role. All other Laker guards should see an increase in minutes with Schroder out and depending on how news breaks later in the day could potentially be in line for even more. With schroder off the floor CourtIQ tells us that the biggest benefactors from an FPM increase perspective are Drummond (.35 very small sample size), Marc Gasol (.11), Alex Caruso (.03), and Ben McLemore (.03).

DeMar DeRozan, Dejounte Murray, and Jakob Poetl all ruled out Sunday

Dejounte Murray, DeMar DeRozan, and Jakob Poetl have all been ruled out and will miss Sunday’s game against Philadelphia. Lonnie Walker, Luka Samanic, Rudy Gay, Patty Mills and Drew Eubanks are all candidates to enter the starting lineup with three normal Spurs starters being unavailable. Devin Vassell and Keldon Johnson are the remaining starters and most likely will carry much of the offense. When we look at CourtIQ with Murray, DeRozan, Poetl, and Derrick White off the floor we have a small sample size but the winners from an FPM increase perspective are Keldon Johnson (.09) and Samanic (.04). All other Spurs should see an increase strictly due to increased playing time and be considered potential value plays.

Fred VanVleet (injury maintenance) and Gary Trent Jr. (leg) ruled out Sunday

Fred VanVleet (injury maintenance) and Gary Trent Jr. (leg) have been ruled out Sunday ahead of the Raptors matchup with the Los Angeles Lakers. It seems that it is VanVleet’s turn to sit as Kyle Lowry rested last night. We should expect to see a similar lineup and similar rotations with Lowry swapped with VanVleet, this means Malachi Flynn is a candidate to enter the starting lineup and see increased minutes (36 last night) with DeAndre Bembry. Yuta Watanabe could also see some increased run off the bench with the other Raptor starters likely will all see heavy minutes (last night against the Jazz all starters saw at least 35 minutes). When looking at CourtIQ with VanVleet and Trent off, the benefactors from an FPM perspective are Lowry (.09), Birch (.07), Flynn (.04), and Siakam (.03). All Raptors’ starters should be considered with Coach Nurse running tight rotations and extending his starters minutes.

Bobby Portis (illness) ruled out Sunday

Bobby Portis was a late addition to the injury report for the Bucks about 30 minutes before game time due to an illness, his bench minutes should be absorbed by P.J. Tucker and Thanasis Antetokounmpo while Giannis is set to rejoin the starting lineup and see his normal run on Sunday when the Bucks take on the Brooklyn Nets.

Giannis Antetokounmpo (ankle) will play Sunday

As expected, Giannis is available Sunday for the Bucks’ matchup with the Brooklyn Nets. He will likely return to his spot in the starting lineup and see his normal workload. With his return Khris Middleton and Jrue Holiday who see their FPM skyrocket with Giannis off the floor should see their normal levels return (Middleton 1.09 and Holiday 1.12). Bobby Portis who started last game for Giannis will likely return to his bench role and P.J Tucker will see his minutes cut into a bit as well. Giannis is always a potential high-end option and especially in what should be a competitive matchup with Brooklyn.

Aleksej Pokusevski

Charlotte Hornets
5/02/21, 2:19 PM ET

Aleksej Pokusevski (knee) listed questionable Sunday; Lu Dort not listed on injury report

Aleksej Puokusevski has been listed as questionable for the Thunder’s game on Sunday against the Phoenix Suns after missing last night’s game. Lu Dort is not on the injury report and should be available tonight. Last night Charlie Brown Jr. got the surprise start for the Thunder and played 26 minutes but this spot will likely be filled by the returning Dort. The main benefactors if Pokusevski were to miss more time would be Isaiah Roby, Darius Bazley, and Dort with the other Thunder players potentially being value plays due to increased minutes. It’s tough to play Thunder players at this point in the season confidently due to the fact that their rotations haven’t been consistent and the risk of a blowout.

Goran Dragic

Milwaukee Bucks
5/02/21, 2:30 PM ET

Goran Dragic (injury recovery) questionable Sunday

Goran Dragic (injury recovery) is listed as questionable ahead of Sunday’s game against the Charlotte Hornets. If Dragic were to miss the Heat would be down their top two bench guards while Tyler Herro remains out. This will likely lead to increased minutes for Kendrick Nunn while Gabe Vincent and Max Strus will be available to back him up. Kendrick Nunn would be the biggest winner if Dragic were to miss as to go along with increased minutes he enjoys a nice FPM bump of .05 with Herro and Dragic off the floor. We might also see Duncan Robinson and Jimmy Butler get a few more minutes if Dragic joins Herro as out tonight.

Kristaps Porzingis

Golden State Warriors
5/02/21, 2:02 PM ET

Kristaps Porzingis (knee) and Tim Hardaway Jr. (ankle) ruled out Sunday

Kristaps Porzingis as expected and Tim Hardaway Jr. were ruled out ahead of Sunday’s contest with the Sacramento Kings. In Porzingis’s absence last night Kleber and Dwight Powell started in the front court with Willie Cauley-Stein and Nicolo Melli seeing extended run off the bench. The addition of Tim Hardaway Jr. to the inactives for tonight will likely mean more minutes for Trey Burke and the returning JJ Redick. With both Porzingis and Hardaway out Luka is an elite play while Kleber and Jalen Brunson will see an FPM boost (.10 and .12), Willie Cauley-Stein should see the biggest minutes bump for as long as Porzingis remains out.

Avery Bradley

Los Angeles Lakers
5/02/21, 1:27 PM ET

Avery Bradley (leg) not on injury report Sunday

Avery Bradley (leg) is not on injury report Sunday after missing the last two games ahead of the Rockets matchup with the New York Knicks. It remains to be seen if Bradley will join the starting lineup but the injury plagued Rockets will be glad to add another available body to the rotation. With Bradley back Armoni Brooks will likely see his minutes cut into as well as DaQuan Jefferies, and Anthony Lamb could find himself out of the rotation. The Rockets that should be targeted remain Kevin Porter Jr., Christian Wood, and Kelly Olynyk with Bradley’s return limiting the upside of Houston’s value options.
