Lineup update: Bucks will start Holiday, Forbes, Middleton, Portis, and Lopez on Friday
As expected, Forbes and Portis both get the start in place of DiVicenzo and Giannis Friday. Portis produces around 1.16 FPM with Giannis off the floor and is an elite play, while Forbes will play minutes in the mid 20s and is a great salary saver on the slate.
As reported by: Eric Nehm via Twitter Other tagged players: Bobby PortisLauri Markkanen (illness) listed out Friday; Nicola Vucevic (adductor) listed available to play
Markkanen was a surprise inactive for the Bulls as they prepare to play the Milwaukee Bucks. Lauri came down with an illness, and will miss the game as a result. Lauri had only been playing minutes in the low 20’s, but it’s likely his minutes get replaced by Thad Young and Daniel Theis. Denzel Valentine may play a few more minutes as a result as well, but Young and Theis are both good punts at the power forward position now that they’ll get more minutes with no Lauri. Vucevic was originally probable, but was upgraded to available and will be the clear top option for the Bulls.
As reported by: the Official NBA Injury Report Other tagged players: Nikola VucevicRoyce O'Neale (wrist) available to play Friday
O’Neale was listed as questionable due to a wrist injury, but was upgraded to available and will play against the Phoenix Suns. O’Neale usually averages 34 minutes or so, and should play the same again today. With no Mitchell or Conley in the lineup, O’Neale may be in line for a few more shots, but it’s most likely they go to Joe Ingles and Jordan Clarkson instead.
As reported by: Eric Walden via TwitterJae Crowder (ankle) ruled out Friday; Dario Saric (ankle) likely will play
Monty Williams mentioned pregame that Crowder wouldn’t play; he was downgraded from questionable to out, and will miss his fifth straight game against the Utah Jazz. Coach Williams mentioned that it’s likely that Dario Saric plays. With no Crowder, it’s likely that Torrey Craig continues to start, while Cam Johnson plays heavy minutes off the bench and likely closes for the team. Both players are tough plays in a difficult matchup with the Jazz, but they will now have more minutes. Saric should get his role as backup center if he does end up playing as expected.
As reported by: Kellan Olson via Twitter Other tagged players: Dario SaricLineup update: Desmond Bane will start for Grayson Allen Friday
As expected, Bane will get the start Friday in place of Allen. He should be in line to play minutes in the mid 20’s, but the Grizzlies do run a deep rotation, so his minutes ceiling is not as high, but he’s certainly a viable punt.
As reported by: Rob Fischer via TwitterLineup update: Nets will start Irving, Shamet, Harris, Green and Griffin Friday
Despite facing the bigger Blazers frontcourt, Griffin will matchup against Nurkic and will start at center. This makes Deandre Jordan incredibly risky, and possibly out of play. Alize Johnson should play again off the bench and is one of the top value plays on the slate.
As reported by: Alex Schiffer via TwitterTerrence Ross (back) ruled out Friday
Ross was downgraded from doubtful to out, and will miss his seventh straight game against the Memphis Grizzlies. It should continue to be more minutes for Dwayne Bacon and Gary Harris as a result.
As reported by: Roy Parry via TwitterLineup update: Robert Williams and Evan Fournier will start Friday
Williams will get the start in place of Tristan Thompson; they both split the minutes, but this gives Williams upside to get a few more minutes; he’s projected at 26 now as opposed to 21 minutes from before. This makes it tough to get to Thompson now. Fournier will continue to start in place of Kemba Walker; he has upside for more minutes now, but will be not as good of a play as Tatum and Jaylen Brown.
As reported by: Keith Smith via Twitter Other tagged players: Evan FournierGrayson Allen (hand) ruled out Friday
Despite being a game-time decision, Allen ends up sitting and will miss the game with a hand injury against the Orlando Magic. Desmond Bane should get the start, while De’Anthony Melton should play more minutes as well. Both are viable as cheap value on tonight’s slate.
As reported by: the Memphis Grizzlies via TwitterLineup update: Moe Wagner will start in place of Chuma Okeke Friday
In just his second game with the team, Wagner will get the start in place of Okeke, and will play at power forward according to coach Corbin. James Ennis will remain in the starting lineup, but Dwayne Bacon will play off the bench. Wagner is at the minimum price across all the industry, and may be a viable punt, but there’s a lot of volatility behind his minutes for sure.
As reported by: Jake Chapman via TwitterLineup update: Hawks will start Young, Snell, Hill, Collins, and Capela Friday
Tony Snell gets the start in his first game back, alongside Trae Young making his return as well. Hill stays in the starting lineup as well. This is a boost for Snell, but he usually doesn’t produce enough minutes in order to be viable, and today seems no different.
As reported by: Kevin Chouinard via Twitter Other tagged players: Solomon HillGrayson Allen (hand) a game-time decision Friday
Despite being tagged as doubtful with a hand injury, Allen is now a game-time decision as the Grizzlies prepare to play the Orlando Magic. Allen suffered a cut on his hand, and coach Taylor Jenkins said that his status would be determined closer to when the game starts. We are currently projecting him to sit as that seems most likely, but there’s certainly a chance he could come back. If he sits, it’ll be more minutes for Desmond Bane and De’Anthony Melton likely, as well a few more for Dillon Brooks. If he plays, he would likely not have minutes issues as it’s a hand injury.
As reported by: Evan Barnes via TwitterTrae Young (ankle) will play Friday; Bogdan Bogdanovic (hamstring) ruled out
After missing four games with an ankle injury, Trae Young was upgraded from questionable to available and will play against the Philadelphia 76ers. Bogdanovic was ruled out, and will miss his second straight game with a hamstring injury. This is along with Clint Capela and Tony Snell upgraded to available earlier in the evening. Young is in a difficult matchup, and in his first game back, it’s tough to prioritize him as a good play. Snell’s return also caps the upside of the other guards, as Lou Williams and Brandon Goodwin are unlikely to get enough minutes with Trae back. The Hawks are much healthier than they were last game, and although Trae will make the offense better overall, it’s tough to prioritize any of them.
As reported by: Brad Rowland via Twitter Other tagged players: Bogdan BogdanovicStatus update: Rui Hachimura will have an increased minutes limit Friday
In his pregame news conference, Scott Brooks mentioned that there would be increased minute limits for “the minutes restriction guys” as the Wizards prepare to play the Cleveland Cavaliers. Hachimura has played 31 and 29 minutes the last two games after a four game absence. There’s room for him to get into the mid thirties and possibly more, but it’s most likely that he stays in the low to mid thirties; this simply means he has upside for more.
As reported by: Fred Katz via TwitterCollin Sexton (concussion) available to play Friday
Sexton was upgraded from questionable with the concussion protocols to available, and will return from a three game absence against the Washington Wizards. Sexton doesn’t appear to be on any minutes limit, and should reclaim his spot in the starting lineup; Cedi Osman should move to the bench as a result. With Sexton back and a high paced matchup set for tonight, he should be a good play assuming he gets full run. The rest of the team has had their prices elevate with his absence, but now that he’s back, Darius Garland, Kevin Love, and Jarrett Allen will all lose some usage, and be tougher to prioritize as a result.
