Markieff Morris (illness) out Wednesday
Morris has officially been downgraded from questionable and won’t play in Wednesday’s matchup against the Phoenix Suns due to an illness that has now forced him to miss three games, while Derrick Rose was already ruled out with a strained left adductor he sustained towards the end of the second quarter of Sunday’s win. In Rose’s absence, Reggie Jackson ended up receiving the start at point guard, but he was rather disappointing from a fantasy perspective in just 24 minutes of action, whereas, Bruce Brown and Langston Galloway were much more effective and each logged more than 36 minutes, respectively.

Rondae Hollis-Jefferson (ankle) will play Wednesday
Hollis-Jefferson has officially been upgraded from questionable and will play in Wednesday’s matchup against the Indiana Pacers after missing four games due to a sprained right ankle, while Norman Powell and Marc Gasol remain sidelined with their respective ailments and are still without a firm timetable for their returns. There haven’t been any reports of a potential minute restriction for Hollis-Jefferson, but his role in the rotation moving forward remains unclear and he’ll most likely compete for playing time with Matt Thomas and Chris Boucher, to some extent, in smaller second unit lineup variations. However, head coach Nick Nurse still continues to play his starters extended minutes, and Thomas was allotted just six minutes prior to garbage time in Sunday’s blowout win.

In Curry’s absence, Delon Wright and Ryan Broekhoff ended up receiving the majority of the backup guard minutes with the second unit, and Wright amassed a total of 25 minutes of action en route to solid fantasy performance. Wright is priced up a bit on daily fantasy sites for tonight’s nine-game slate, but he’ll still remain in consideration for tournament formats since he has a 29.1% assist rate and is averaging 1.17 DraftKings and 1.14 FanDuel points per minute with Curry, Barea, Doncic, and Dwight Powell off the court this season.

Hunter and Fernando have officially been upgraded from questionable to probable for Wednesday’s matchup against the Minnesota Timberwolves after missing the previous two games, while Trae Young and Kevin Huerter were removed from the Hawks’ injury report and will be available to play in tonight’s contest. There haven’t been any reports of a potential minute restriction for Hunter, so he should be able to reclaim his spot in the starting lineup from Jeff Teague, who was phenomenal for fantasy purposes in just over 36 minutes of action in Wednesday’s loss. Atlanta was involved in the massive four-team trade late last night that saw over a dozen players change teams, but the only player they sent away in the deal was Evan Turner, who has been firmly out of the rotation for most of the season, and Clint Capela won’t be available to make his Hawks debut until the trade is finalized by the league offices. This should allow Fernando and Damian Jones and to continuing having meaningful roles in head coach Lloyd Pierce’s frontcourt rotation for at least one additional game.

Barton and Grant have officially been listed as questionable on the Nuggets’ injury report for Wednesday’s matchup against the Utah Jazz, while Porter Jr. is doubtful with a right ankle injury that has already forced him to miss two games. Denver was involved in the massive four-team trade late last night that saw over a dozen players change teams, so they could potentially be extremely shorthanded if one or both of Barton and Grant are unable to suit up this evening. However, even in a best-case scenario, they would only have nine players available, one of which would be Vlatko Cancar, who has only amassed 21.4 minutes at the NBA level so far this season. Obviously, there isn’t really any actionable data with all the injured and former Nuggets off the court, but Nikola Jokic still leads the way with a 30.9% usage rate, a 39.4% assist rate, a 17.2% rebound rate, and is averaging 1.44 DraftKings and 1.40 FanDuel points per minute in a 462.8 minutes sample size.

Somewhat surprisingly, Collin Sexton has benefitted the most with Thompson and Zizic off the court this season, as he owns a 29.2% usage rate and is averaging 1.07 DraftKings and 1.03 FanDuel points per minute in a 337.7 minutes sample size.

Reggie Jackson has been back from injury for five full games now. He has scored 16+ real life points in three of those matchups, and the team has been on the short end of two blowouts in that span also. Jackson’s usage rate has not dipped below 23.5% in any of his games since the return and now Detroit has a solid matchup against Phoenix tonight. This price tag sits at a very affordable number across the industry for Jackson, so he’s on my radar.
Save Some Salary in Dallas
Luka Doncic will sit again tonight and Delon Wright is still priced low across the industry. The Mavericks have played seven full games this season without Doncic and Wright has seen his minutes, points, rebounds, and assists all see a tick up in those matchups compared to the 41 he has played without the team’s star.
Jamal Murray (ankle) and Jerami Grant (back) will start Tuesday
Murray has officially been upgraded from questionable and will start in Tuesday’s matchup against the Portland Trail Blazers after missing 10 games due to a sprained left ankle, while Grant will also be available following his brief downgrade to questionable with thoracic tightness. There haven’t been any reports of a potential minute restriction for either Grant or Murray, but the fact that they were given the starting nod from head coach Mike Malone and the Nuggets medical staff makes it less likely that they will have a strict cap on their playing time this evening. Murray is priced down a bit on daily fantasy sites for tonight’s four-game slate, and if he’s able to see anywhere close to a normal minute workload, he’d be an intriguing tournament target since he has a 25.4% usage rate, a 21.8% assist rate, and is averaging 1.01 DraftKings and 0.99 FanDuel points per minute on the season thus far.
