Ready to Thrive in an Up Tempo Series
I love his potential in games like these, where a high-scoring, up and down tempo caters to his ability to contribute across all areas of the stat sheet. In three regular season meetings against the Rockets, Green averages 16 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists per game. Similar lines can be expected here, with the upside for even more, and he comes a bit cheaper than the likes of Curry and Harden.
Jaylen Brown no longer on a minutes limit Sunday
According to Brad Stevens, Jaylen Brown won’t be on a minutes limit anymore. Brown has been dealing with a hamstring injury, and played limited minutes in the last series. However, Brown re-entered the startling lineup and played 31 minutes the last game of the 76ers series. Look for him to play the 30 minute mark again today, and don’t be afraid to play him in all formats.
As reported by: Adam Himmelsbach via TwitterMarcus Morris will start for Aron Baynes
Marcus Morris will get his first start of the 2018 playoffs today for game one versus Cleveland. With Morris starting, Aron Baynes will head to the bench. Look for Morris to see in the 30s today in terms of minutes. His minutes have been inconsistent these playoffs, but with starting they’re a little more secure. The main assignment for Morris this series will be guarding LeBron James.
As reported by: Sean Grande via twitterInteresting Value Play With a Ton of Upside
George Hill is the safest play for cash that most people talk about but hear me out on Jeff Green. On FanDuel he’s only $500 cheaper but on DraftKings there is a $1600 discount and honestly you can play both. I think Green’s production off the bench is important for the Cavs and believe he could be used a ton based on matchups. If the game goes small they could use him a ton and I just think it’s an interesting value play that has crazy high upside which is what we are looking for when trying to take down these big show down slates.
Best Celtics Value
I think there is a lot of value in Jaylen Brown today. He is coming off an injury which has his price down and could keep his ownership down. People may still worry about it but I have no concerns. He has also had some big games against LeBron in his career and will be used a ton to guard him. Brown seems safe and secure to play a ton of minutes and has a nice floor and ceiling in this matchup.
Take The Free Square
LeBron should be 100% owned on this slate. Don’t be the guy who doesn’t play LeBron James because he’s “not clutch” or not named Michael Jordan. He’s going to be the highest scoring player on the slate and you will need him in your lineups.
A Spot for Value
We need value on this one game slate, especially if we are playing LeBron James, so enter George Hill. The guards should get more run in this series, as I expect these games to go small more often than the games did for the Cavs against the Raptors. Hill went cold often in that series, but with Boston’s elite perimeter defenders attempting to lock down James, there could be more open looks here, making Hill an interesting value pick. At the very least, the floor is reasonable because we know the minutes will be there.
A Very Strong Mid-Range Option on the Rise
DFS players have been somewhat slow to come around on Brown since his return from injury, but this is the time to buy in. His minutes have slowly been increasing, and he entered the starting lineup for the final game of the series against the Sixers, where he played 31 minutes and scored 24 actual points. He’s ready to rock and is one of the best plays on the board today.
The Top Overall Play... Again
It’s rinse, lather, and repeat with the playoff machine. I don’t see any way you fade him on a one game slate, because his points projection is miles ahead of anyone else on the slate. Start your lineup with James, and figure out the best value pieces from there.
All Rise!
Not that you need me to tell you LeBron is great, but on showdown slates it is near-impossible to win without the highest raw point scoring player, and that in this game is all but certain to be LeBron.
More Minutes This Series?
With no Joel Embiid like presence on the Cavs, Aaron Baynes won’t be called on to play significant (if any) minutes which means the Celtics have room in the rotation for another wing. Semi Ojeleye is not going to wow you with his stat line ever but he can get a couple points, rebounds and steals and for his de-facto free tag around the industry he can be the GPP differentiation play you need to win by yourself.
Can Boston Force George Hill to Shoot More?
Cleveland was able to sweep the Raptors with the Raptors never forcing George Hill to be the guy that beat them. Throughout the playoffs we’ve seen Lebron (of course), Korver, Love, and JR Smith beat teams with their perimeter shooting. George Hill, no so much. Look for the Celtics to make Hill a shooter early in Game 1. While shooting a poor percentage would hurt Cleveland as a team the extra attempts won’t hurt his fantasy point bottom line which is all we care about.
Jaylen Brown Could Be Focal Point
In Showdown slates, maximizing matchups to beat expected point values is king and for the Boston Celtics the guy that is constantly posting up Kyle Korver will be that guy in Game 1. Given Tatum’s success last round I think Lebron starts guarding him hoping Brown won’t be aggressive. Brad Stevens will attack your weakness so I think Brown puts up a monster game 1 and forces Cleveland to adjust.
Jaylen Brown will start, Marcus Smart to the bench
Brad Stevens hinted at a lineup change earlier during his presser before the game. Now, it’s official Jaylen Brown will start for Marcus Smart on Wednesday.
As reported by: Brian Robb via twitterCeltics considering changing starting lineup Wednesday
During his pregame chat with the media Head Coach Brad Stevens said he’s considering making a change for tonight’s starting lineup. With the injury to Shane Larkin, it would benefit the Celtics, if Marcus Smart could handle the point guard duties with the second unit. Jaylen Brown would enter the starting lineup, but it sounds like he’s still not full-go. This really doesn’t change anything, Smart is going to get a ton of minutes tonight even if he doesn’t start. We should find out who the Celtics will start tonight before tip-off.
