Brandon Jennings is a great PG punt option after the trade deadline
While the trade deadline really wasn’t all that eventful, one of the biggest winners after it was all said and done was Brandon Jennings. Since being traded from the Pistons to the Magic Jennings has seen his minutes spike tremendously. When he was playing for the Pistons before the deadline, Jennings played around 18 minutes per game. In the two games he has played with the Magic he has totaled 25 minutes in each contest and he appears to be a much bigger part of the offense than when he was in Detroit. Even though we’re dealing with a small sample size, we can be comfortable with calling him one of the top value GPP options on the board tonight. He gets about as good of a match-up as he could ask for with the Sixers, as they are 24th in DvP vs. PGs. The spread is only 5.5 points in this one (in favor of Orlando), but this is easily one that could get away from the Sixers and give Jennings a couple of extra minutes. While we don’t necessarily want to count on that when constructing our roster, it is just another small positive that comes with rostering Jennings. He is only $3,900 on FD compared to $4,600 on DK but is a great punt option on either site. With a lot of top options in great match-ups on the board, it is important that we identify value guys like Jennings so that we can pay up for some of the other studs.
Alexis Ajinca to start for Omer Asik on Tuesday
Alexis Ajinca will be starting tonight for the Pelicans. Ajinca is not expected to play over 20 minutes but is still a viable punt option. Ajinca is basically a minimum salaried player on both major sites but does not have much upside. Ajinca has only scored over 20 FPs once in his last 10 appearances. With minimal value plays available tonight, Ajinca is an intriguing option.

Omer Asik (ankle) expected to be out for up to 2 weeks
Omer Asik has a badly sprained ankle and will miss up to two weeks with the injury. The Pelicans will start Alexis Ajinca in his place but he is not expected to see over 20 minutes tonight. Anthony Davis and Ryan Anderson will likely be the big men in during crunch time against the Wizards tonight.

Gary Neal will return to the Wizards lineup tonight, but Alan Anderson is still unable to make his season debut. Neal won’t be a big part of the rotation now that Bradley Beal is settling in, but it’s worth noting that the Wizards are in a very rough stretch – they play 5 times in the next 7 days, and also played 3 games in 3 nights coming out of the ASB. That may lead the Wizards to stretch their rotation some, but Neal still isn’t on the DFS radar tonight.

Beno Udrih only played six minutes last night before he had to exit with a foot injury. Udrih was not seeing over 18 minutes so his DFS value was very minimal. With Udrih out, Goran Dragic was forced to play 41 minutes and should see at least 35 on Wednesday. The Heat play the Wizards in a pace up game, making Dragic a mid-range PG with nice upside.

Pau Gasol was listed earlier in the day as questionable but has been upgraded. Gasol faces the Wizards on Wednesday and should be considered an elite option with Jimmy Butler still out. Gasol is a double-double threat every time he takes the floor and has been averaging over 34 minutes since the All-Star break. In his last six games of over 30 minutes, Gasol is averaging 20 points and nine rebounds.

Anderson Varejao was on the active roster on Monday but did not play for the Warriors. He is expected to make his debut on Wednesday against the Heat. Varejao is an extremely risky option for Wednesday but his salary should be near minimum, making him an option to consider. Even if Varejao plays, he will likely not see over 12-15 minutes.

Alan Anderson has yet to make his season debut and should not be considered tonight even if he is upgraded. Gary Neal has missed five consecutive games with a leg injury and also is irrelevant in DFS. Bradley Beal is the SG most likely to benefit due to their absence. Beal has been coming off the bench for the Wizards, averaging 26 minutes in three games since the All-Star break. Beal has not exceeded value in last four games, which will likely make him an under-owned option tonight. Beal is in a nice matchup and should be considered, as the Pelicans are ranked 24th in DvP vs SG on the season.

Kevin Garnett is still out with a knee injury. Nemanja Bjelica has been listed as out with a foot injury and Nikola Pekovic is out with an ankle injury. with all three players being out, expect Gorgui Dieng and Karl-Anthony Towns to play over 35 minutes again. Both Dieng and KAT should be considered as elite options against the Raptors on Wednesday.

Leonard is questionable for Wednesday’s game with the Kings. Sacramento will be on the back-end of a B2B and the Spurs will be big favorites, so this won’t be a great spot to deploy Leonard even if he plays. It’s likely that he’ll have his minutes monitored to some degree and he does suffer from a fantasy perspective when the Spurs blow teams out. We’ll update Leonard’s status after tomorrow’s shootaround – Kyle Anderson will likely start if Leonard is unable to go, although he won’t be a recommended value play on a full slate.

Larry Nance questionable for Wednesday
Larry Nance is officially listed as questionable for Wednesday’s game with the Grizzlies. Nance hasn’t been playing much of a role since his return from an injury, while Julius Randle has been seeing consistent court time as the starter. If Nance is unable to go tomorrow, Randle should be locked into 30+ minutes, but the match-up with the Memphis front-court isn’t a great one despite Marc Gasol’s absence.

Quin Snyder hasn’t said whether or not Mack will start tonight, but he’s the most talented PG on the roster and he impressed in his Jazz debut on Sunday with 16 points and 6 assists in just 24 minutes. Incumbent starter Raul Neto hasn’t scored 16 points in an NBA game in his career. We likely won’t have word on Mack’s status as a starter or reserve before lineup lock on FanDuel, but we’ll keep you updated on the situation as the day moves along.

We don’t have much information to go on at this point, but it appears that Jose Calderon may be bumped from the Knicks starting lineup. If that’s the case, the most likely candidates to replace him are Langston Galloway or Jerian Grant with Galloway being the most sensible option at this stage. We’ll update this situation tomorrow as more news unfolds.

Luol Deng is dealing with a minor finger issue but is fully expected to play tomorrow. He’s taken a massive step forward from a fantasy perspective with Chris Bosh out, as Deng has now recorded double-doubles in his past three games and has exceeded 47 FPs in two of those three contests. If Miami is able to stay in striking distance tomorrow against the Warriors, Deng should play upwards of 35 minutes and would once again have double-double upside.

Hawes has been declared out by the Hornets for their game tomorrow. With the return of Al Jefferson this news has little DFS relevance other than maybe a few more minutes for Frank Kaminsky off the bench.
