Michael Kidd-Gilchrist will play on Friday
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist will return to the court tonight against the Blazers. He’s about a month early on his initial timetable for a return, so it should be interesting to see how much court time he’ll be able to handle. He’ll very likely be on a strict minutes limit, but his presence will eat into the playing time of P.J. Hairston and the other back-up wings. Nicolas Batum’s court time shouldn’t be in any jeopardy.

Gerald Green, Tyler Johnson questionable for Friday
Both Gerald Green and Tyler Johnson have been added to the Heat’s injury report – both are listed as questionable. Tyler Johnson isn’t a DFS option with Dragic and Udrih around, while Green’s value has been shot since he’s been dealing with a nagging injury and isn’t seeing big minutes as he was when the Heat were dealing with numerous injuries; he’s played more than 25 minutes just once over the past seven games.

Melo, Porzingis and Calderon are all questionable for Friday. If Melo and/or Porzingis can’t play, Derrick Williams will remain a nice upside GPP play, but his salary is starting to spike on some sites (DraftKings most notably). Kyle O’Quinn started for Porzingis on Thursday and he’d also be in play as a GPP punt if it turns out Porzingis will miss another game. Lance Thomas figures to start if Melo isn’t able to suit up. If Calderon sits, Langston Galloway would become one of the top punt plays of the evening and would be viable in any format. Arron Afflalo’s usage rate/shot attempts rise with Melo out of the lineup, and he’d be the big winner if Melo sat.

John Henson is considered questionable for tonight’s game with the Heat. Johnny O’Bryant saw 20 minutes of run last night with Henson out and would figure to see similar run if Henson sits again, but JOB isn’t a DFS option. Greg Monroe’s playing time didn’t increase last night, but the game was out of hand early in the 4th which may have played a larger role in his decreased court time.

Bryant will sit out tonight’s game against the Clippers for rest purposes on the second night of a back-to-back. Lou Williams is also questionable leaving the SG position a bit thin for the Lakers tonight. It’s unclear who will get the start for Bryant – in the past Anthony Brown has seen some run (and is not a viable DFS option) but it’s also possible that Jordan Clarkson and D’Angelo Russell see the court at the same time thus increasing their minutes. We’ll update you on any Lakers news we get as soon as it comes in.

Derrick Favors to start tonight for Jazz
After 19 minute and 20 minute stints off the bench in his first two games back from injury, Favors will get the start for the Jazz tonight against the Timberwolves and Trey Lyles will return to the bench. The Timberwolves are decent against PF’s, ranking 9th in DvP, but if Favors can get 30+ minutes he’s in play (especially at DraftKings where his price is $6,600) as he has averaged over a fantasy point a minute in those 39 minutes of play.

Whiteside hasn’t played in over a week and will continue to sit out tonight against the Bucks. Gerald Green is also questionable after missing the team shootaround this morning. While Amare Stoudemire will likely get the start, he doesn’t get enough minutes to be a viable DFS option. Chris Bosh has averaged 35 minutes and about a fantasy point/minute with Whiteside out and is a good option tonight as he faces a Bucks defense that is somewhat vulnerable to bigs (24th in PF DvP and 16th in C DvP).

Both Dragic and McRoberts have missed significant time due to injury but both players are looking as if they will play tonight when the Heat take on the Milwaukee Bucks. McRoberts is nothing more than a role player and not a viable DFS option. Dragic can be targeted at times but coming off an extended absence and going against a Bucks team that is 9th in PG DvP it’s probably best to wait at least one game before giving him a shot on your DFS roster. Dragic coming back relegates Beno Udrih back to fantasy irrelevance.

Garnett and Martin have missed the last two games due to injuries and will miss their third straight game tonight when the Timberwolves take on the Jazz. Neither have had an impact DFS wise this season other than the positive gain it is for Zach LaVine and Gorgui Dieng who both see more playing time when those two sit. It’s an unenviable match up, however, for those two tonight as they take on a Jazz team that is second in the league in fewest fantasy points allowed per game.

After missing the last three games, Pachulia stated that he will play tonight for the Mavericks in their game against the Brooklyn Nets. It’s good timing for Pachulia as he gets to face the inept defense of Brook Lopez (Nets are 26th in center DvP). At $6,200 on FanDuel and $5,800 on DraftKings and assuming he gets his normal minutes, Pachulia is an excellent mid-range option in GPP’s. Devin Harris will not play tonight – not noteworthy for DFS purposes but it will mean a few more minutes for Raymond Felton and J.J. Barea.

Lou Williams has been ruled out with an upper respiratory infection tonight against the Bulls. Lakers Coach Byron Scott does not know who the starter will be yet. Look for an update within the next hour.

Kyle O’Quinn will be starting tonight and is a viable punt play at his minimum salary. O’Quinn should be able to secure 20 minutes with all the injuries the Knicks have. O’Quinn could exceed value easily tonight and should definitely be considered in the late slate. If you can late-swap him in he does present a good amount of upside.

Kyle Lowry will be starting tonight thus killing any upside Cory Joseph had. Kyle Lowry will likely see his normal minutes tonight if the Raptors don’t blow out the Knicks on national TV. Cory Joseph is still a viable play and should be able to hit value due to his low salary.

Jeremy Lin has been ruled out for Friday against the Trail Blazers. Jeremy Lamb is still questionable with his toe injury. Troy Daniels would be an elite DFS play if one or both players miss. Look for an update tomorrow on Lamb.
