Marcus Smart not expected to play on Friday
Smart is expected to miss another game on Friday, which theoretically sets up Isaiah Thomas with another start. Thomas is an elite option tonight in any format even in a less than ideal match-up with a tough Wizards back-court. He’ll have some trouble defensively with John Wall, which gives Wall a sneaky value boost heading into tonight.

Markieff Morris (illness) will play on Friday
Morris will face off with his twin brother Friday night as the Suns take on the Pistons. It’s a plus match-up for both of the Morris twins, with Markieff likely to face off with Ersan Ilyasova to start. Morris hasn’t been shy about shooting thus far in 2015, and with Tyson Chandler holding down the center spot, he’s the only real offensive threat in the Suns front-court. Morris is always a very risky cash game option, but he has considerable GPP upside tonight.

With Nikola Vucevic out of action, the Magic will turn to Dedmon as the starting center. Orlando doesn’t really have much depth behind him at center or power forward, so Dedmon should see a healthy allotment of minutes in his first start of the season. We’d peg him as a candidate for between 25-30 minutes of court time, with solid rebounding/blocks upside. If you are choosing between Dedmon and Clint Capela, we’ll give the slight edge to Capela in cash games and tournaments.

Henson has been cleared to return to action tonight against the Knicks. He’ll look to reclaim his backup role behind Greg Monroe, and it’s likely that he’ll jump players like Miles Plumlee and Johnny O’Bryant in the rotation. Don’t expect Henson to see more than 20 minutes of court time tonight, and he’s not a viable DFS option right now.

Miles will not suit up for tonight’s game with the Heat. In his absence, look for Rodney Stuckey to see a minutes bump off the bench, with Chase Budinger also a candidate to pick up some extra playing time. Stuckey’s match-up with a slow paced Heat team isn’t great, but he’s a nightly GPP option when his minutes are expected to climb over 25.

With Dwight Howard also out tonight, the Rockets will be relying heavily on guys like Clint Capela and Marcus Thornton. Ty Lawson will also be expected to handle an even bigger portion of the Rockets PG duties. Capela and Thornton are both strong value plays, with Lawson, James Harden, Trevor Ariza and Corey Brewer also in play tonight.

MCW was listed as doubtful yesterday, so this is not a big surprise. Jerryd Bayless will once again start at point guard and should push for 30-34 minutes, making him a valuable asset towards the bottom of the salary chart. While he disappointed in a start on Wednesday night, he’s in a nice spot to bounce back against New York. Greivis Vasquez will also see extra run off the bench. Parker returned to the lineup on Wednesday, but he’s not going to be a DFS option until his minutes limit is lifted. He’s just sieving value from the other Milwaukee forwards in the meantime.

Dwight Howard will sit out tonight, but will rejoin the starting lineup tomorrow. Kevin McHale had said that Howard may begin playing in back-to-back sets, something that clearly won’t start this weekend. With Howard out, look for Clint Capela to draw the start at center, making him a viable punt play in any format with Terrence Jones also out. Marcus Thornton will continue to start for Jones and should see in the neighborhood of 30 minutes, making him a strong tournament play given his ability to score. James Harden gets a bump in value with Howard, Jones and Patrick Beverley out.

The Pelicans big man is listed by the team as questionable for tonight but is also listed as the teams starter. A situation to keep an eye on although Asik doesn’t offer much value in regards to DFS. Alexis Ajinca would get the nod should Asik miss but he has yet to top 21 minutes in a game this year.

Jared Cunningham to potentially start over Richard Jefferson
At the morning shoot around, Jared Cunningham was wearing a starters jersey while Richard Jefferson was wearing a bench practice jersey. This opens up the possibility to Cunningham getting the start. Neither are great DFS targets (Cunningham for example is averaging .57 DK fp/min), even at reduced price points and there’s uncertainty as to how many minutes the two would play. A situation that’s probably best avoided.

Steven Adams left Thursday’s game against the Bulls with a back injury. He has been ruled out for the game and Enes Kanter will pick up the minutes.

Marc Gasol game-time decision Thursday
Marc Gasol went through warmups and said he felt great, but is still a game-time decision. Mike Conley and Zach Randolph will not get the bump to elite DFS consideration now that Gasol is likely playing.

Trail Blazers Coach Terry Stotts did mention that Meyers Leonard will play tonight. The ankle sprain was not as bad as they initially thought, but no word on if he will start.
