A Low Owned QB in a Great Spot
Per the FanShare Buzz Score tool on LHQ, Phillip Rivers is one of the least discussed QBs this week around the DFS industry despite a home matchup against the Raiders and a 28.5 Vegas-implied team total. This is partially because two of the most buzzed-about QBs are in his same price range, with Matt Ryan and Ben Roethlisberger squaring off in what will in all probability be a high scoring shootout. However, if you’re looking to differentiate from the field in GPPs, Rivers is a high upside target that will carry a fraction of the ownership of Ryan and Big Ben. Consider utilizing Rivers to take a more contrarian approach to your lineup and still catch solid upside at the position.
Ameer Abdullah active for first time this year
Ameer Abdullah will be active for first time this year today against the Packers. This is an interesting response from the Lions to the calls for more Kerryon Johnson, and now makes a convoluted backfield even messier. Obviously, Abdullah himself is not a viable play with an unknown expected workload.
Marvin Jones (ankle) active Week 5, as expected
Per the earlier report, Marvin Jones will be active Week 5, as expected.
Charles Clay (hip, shoulder) active Sunday
Charles Clay will be active Sunday despite hip and shoulder injuries. As has been the case most weeks this season, no part of this Buffalo offense makes for a viable DFS play however due to the inconsistency of Josh Allen and the rest of their offensive weapons.
DeVante Parker (quad) OUT Sunday
DeVante Parker is inactive Sunday due to a lingering quad injury. Look for Kenny Stills, Danny Amendola and Albert Wilson to be the lead receivers for the Dolphins, although none of them are particularly appealing plays on the road against the Bengals.
Davante Adams (calf) active Sunday, as expected.
Per the earlier report, Davante Adams is active Sunday, as expected.
Sammy Watkins (hamstring) active Sunday
Per the earlier report Sammy Watkins will be active Sunday, as expected.
Marquise Goodwin (quad) OUT Sunday
Marquise Goodwin has been ruled out Sunday due to his quad injury. Look for George Kittle to lead the team in targets, with Pierre Garcon getting a bump in looks as well in Goodwin’s absence. Kittle may be the only piece of this offense that can be trusted at the moment, however, with CJ Beathard under center.
Geronimo Allison OUT Sunday
Geronimo Allison inactive Sunday due to his concussion and hamstring injury. This opens up work for Marquez Valdes-Scantling, and ensures high target volume for Davante Adams and Jimmy Graham.
Report: Greg Olsen on track to return Week 6
The Panthers believe Greg Olsen is on track to return Week 6 after a foot injury has kept him out of action since week 1. Olsen’s return will be great news for Cam Newton, who is very much in need of reliable receiving options. Olsen will take over lead TE duties from Ian Thomas, and will immediately be fantasy-relevant assuming he can take on a full workload.
Marvin Jones (ankle) expected to play Sunday
Despite being a late-week injury report add after popping up on the report Friday with an ankle injury, it appears Marvin Jones is not in danger of missing today’s game against the Packers. Look for him, Golden Tate and Kenny Golladay to receive the majority of the Lions passing targets, per usual. At just 4.7 K on DraftKings, Jones will likely be a popular value play on this week 5 slate.
Davante Adams (calf) expected play Sunday
Davante Adams is expected to play Sunday. Adams missed some practice time this week due to a calf injury, but as it appears he may be the only normal Packers starting WR that is active this week, it is not surprising they’re pushing for him to take the field. Assuming he is a full go, look for Adams to be targeted heavily, as he is already Aaron Rodgers’ #1 target and today the Packers don’t have Randall Cobb, and likely will be missing Geronimo Allison as well.
Matt Breida (shoulder) is expected to play Sunday
Matt Breida is expected to play Sunday despite his shoulder injury. Look for him to lead the charge out of the 49ers backfield, with Alfred Morris intermittently picking up some touches as well. Breida didn’t log a particularly strong performance in Christian Beathard’s first game under center, but he will try to get back on track in today’s matchup against Arizona.
Will Fuller (hamstring) expected to play, Lamar Miller (ribs) and Keke Coutee (hamstring) game-time decisions for the Texans
The Texans are banged up going into their Sunday night showdown with the Cowboys, however reports indicate that Will Fuller is expected to play despite his hamstring issue that forced an early exit from their week 4 matchup. Lamar Miller (ribs) and Keke Coutee (hamstring) appear to be true game-time decisions, however, and are in danger of missing the contest. If Miller can’t go, Alfred Blue will step into the primary RB duties. Coutee’s absence would only further ensure that Deandre Hopkins and Will Fuller dominate the share of passing targets, as they have in each of the Texans games thus far when they’ve both been active.
Other tagged players: Lamar Miller, Keke CouteeChiefs optimistic Sammy Watkins (hamstring) will suit up Sunday
It appears Sammy Watkins will be able to suit up Sunday against the Jags despite the hamstring injury that forced him into an early exit from the Chiefs week 4 contest. However, when you combine the fact that he is coming off of injury and the matchup against the Jacksonville defense, probably better to look elsewhere on this slate. That said, Watkins being active will take a few targets from both Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce, although all still figure to see plenty of chances in this pass heavy Chiefs offense.
