Daily Batter Breakdown: Saturday, July 25th
Welcome to the Daily Batter Breakdown. Whenever there are at least eight games on the night slate, I’ll break down some of the best top tier hitters to target based on matchup.
The biggest split taken into account will be left/right, but each player card will also show park factors, player salaries on FanDuel and DraftKings among other sites, and then a description of why I’ll be targeting him.

A.J. Pierzynski
The catcher pool for these night games is putrid, making Pierzynski one of the best plays of the day. If there is a value catcher at minimum salary playing, I might actually choose him because I am so unenamored with the catcher matchups with the solid pitchers pitching. A.J. looks like an interesting option despite hitting against Carlos Martinez with his cheap price and his .330 wOBA against right-handed pitching. Martinez has been great but he has also allowed a similar .330 wOBA to lefties.

Adam Lind
Lind is one of the top hitters at first base tonight against Rubby De La Rosa. With De La Rosa sporting a .413 wOBA against versus lefties, and Lind’s consistent .400 wOBA against righties in the last four years, this seems like a no-brainer. His price is reasonable on both sites and despite not being one of the hottest hitters, the park, the history and the lefty is there to absolutely destroy for Lind.

Brian Dozier
There are not a lot of great options out there today but for this game, there are two below average pitchers and the over/under is nice compared to some of the other games. Oh, did I mention that CC Sabathia has been terrible against righties so far this year? His .393 wOBA allowed is similar to his .401 wOBA allowed last year after his velocity had dropped and it does not look like it is getting better. Dozier has a .377 wOBA against lefties and Sabathia has allowed 18 homers to right-handed batters.

1.071 | 0.000 | $3,500 | $9,700 | $4,600 | $76,400 |
Alex Rodriguez
On the other side of the coin, A-Rod has a solid .379 wOBA against lefties this year and Tommy Milone takes the hill for the Twins who has not been good against righties either with a 4.47 xFIP and a .363 wOBA. The good thing for Milone is that a lot of the good hitters on the Yankees are lefties. A-Rod? Not so much and he will try to regain old form and take Milone deep a couple of times.

Carlos Correa
Again, one of the top SS options on the board today, Correa gets to face Danny Duffy in Kansas City. If you have the money to spend, he is definitely the guy you want to spend it on with his .421 wOBA against lefties and Duffy allowing a lot more hits and power against right handers than left.
Gerardo Parra | |||||||

1.102 | 0.000 | $3,600 | $8,100 | $4,100 | $68,000 |
Gerardo Parra
Parra isn’t the super cheap guy he was a month ago, but he still is a great option on both sites here. He does not have the numbers that Lind does against righties, but his .373 wOBA against is respectable considering how terrible Rubby De La Rosa has been against lefties. Parra has the stolen base upside and should be hitting at the top of the lineup tonight.
Andrew McCutchen | |||||||

0.890 | 0.000 | $4,800 | $10,350 | $4,300 | $83,200 |
Andrew McCutchen
McCutchen has not been having the greatest season of his career against lefties, but the fact is that he has proven time in and time out that he is one of the best hitters against lefties in the game. His price at $4,300 on DraftKings is an absolute steal, and with some of the other value here you should be able to fit him in. He had been struggling a bit, but the numbers previously speak for themselves and against Gio Gonzalez today who has a .340 wOBA against right handers and the Pirates at a 4 over/under, McCutchen looks primed for a dinger today.

Chris Young
Chris Young may not start with the return of Beltran, but if he is in the lineup I would definitely look at him as an option. The Yankees would be absolutely nuts not to look to him as an option today as he has 6 homers has a .470 wOBA against righties this year. If he hits in the middle of the lineup at his price on both sites against Milone, it would be absolute bonkers to not include him in your lineup. I noted above how poor Milone has been against righties this year and the fact that he has given up 9 homers in a short amount of at bats makes Young incredibly desireable.

Miguel Sano
Sabathia has been brutal against right handers so far this year as I noted above giving up 18 homers and a .393 wOBA allowed. Sano has been horrible against lefties, but he has only had 17 at bats against them which I am chalking up to small sample size. I like his price, and his potential as one of the top prospects in the game and with the park, over/under and pitcher on the mound, I think Sano makes a great gamble.
