DFS Tournament Report: August 4th
There were three live finals qualifiers last night with a seat being given away at FanDuel and DraftKings, and FantasyAces awarding two seats to their live finals. Here’s a look at those three tournaments and how they played out and a quick look at the rest of the nights big winners:
DraftKings $4 Million FBWC Qualifier ($20 entry)
Things started off with Josh Donaldson and Troy Tulowitzki home runs propelling teams to the top of the standings and an hour in it was LSphila with those two, a Cubs stack, and Jake Arrieta sitting in first. A while later, Nahunta (#1,630 in RG’s TPOY race), on the basis of a Yankees stack that included strong performances from Chris Young and Brian McCann, moved into the lead with sillymonkey and MotownMauler (#73 in RG’s TPOY race) rounding out the top three.
With play winding down for the evening, banders234 (#38 in RG’s TPOY race) would take the top spot with a Yankees stack, a couple of Mariners, and Marco Estrada headlining his roster. Lurking down in the standings with Chris Bassitt still on the mound was dandydon who had won a seat a week ago. A strong outing from Bassitt (29.55 fpts) would catapult dandydon and his team made up of Yankees, Tulo, and Robinson Cano into the lead by .25 points. When the Athletics held on for the win the additional four points would make the final difference 4.25 points over banders234.

FanDuel $4 Million WFBC Qualifier ($200 Entry)
Comox_warrior got off to a strong start thanks to home runs from Salvador Perez and Yunel Escobar to take the early lead. He would hold that lead for the first couple of hours until a cortd1313 team with Perez, Maikel Franco, Jimmy Nelson, and Chris Young surged to the top.
Jaheck85 would use a team comprised of Mariners and Yankees plus a strong outing from Matt Shoemaker to take the lead with just the two late games remaining to be completed. Csuram88 (#27 in RG’s TPOY race) sat in second place but had no players remaining. The only player lurking that could pass jaheck85 was cortd1313 who had just Mike Trout remaining. Trout was unable to connect though and jaheck85 would win the seat to the $4 Million WFBC!

FantasyAces $250K FAWBC Qualifier ($109 Entry)
FantasyAces held a qualifier to award the last two seats to their live final and early on it was brich11 (#1,503 in RG’s TPOY race) taking the lead with a Troy Tulowitzki, Josh Donaldson, Chris Young, and Jake Peavy led team. Then the Yankees offense struck and that moved the likes of blitz1016 (#266 in RG’s TPOY race), tipandpick (#1,460 in RG’s TPOY race), and tommyg (#54 in RG’s TPOY race) into the top three.
Tommyg would move into the top spot on the basis of Shoemaker’s outing and only rocket504, who had Chris Bassitt remaining, had a player left that could disturb the current top two of tommyg and blitz1016. Bassitt would get rocket504 close but he would end up finishing one point behind blitz1016.
