DFS Tournament Report: NFL Week 9
Normally it’s the lack of production at running back that people talk about on a weekly basis, but this week was the week of the RB as Melvin Gordon, Mark Ingram, and Latavius Murray all topped 34 DraftKings fpts. Add in solid outings from the likes of Ezekiel Elliott, Frank Gore, Jay Ajayi, and DuJuan Harris among others and it was the WR’s who were struggling to put up big points. The first three would be key cogs in the majority of the winning lineups.
Here’s a quick review of the standings from the three biggest GPPs on DraftKings and FanDuel along with the winning lineups.
DraftKings NFL $4M Fantasy Football Millionaire [$1M to 1st]
Heading into the Sunday Night game down by more than 30 and having Latavius Murray, ph1982 had to feel good about moving up the pay ladder in the DraftKings Millionaire but he likely wasn’t even thinking about winning it all. Three TD’s and 34.7 fpts later, ph1982 was waking up to the best dream ever as he came out of nowhere to take down the seven figure payday. In addition to Murray he had 60 combined points from Ajayi and Gordon and coupled the three backs with a naked Marcus Mariota (31.92 fpts) and dad runner Jason Witten (30.4 fpts) to give him five players with over 25 fpts.
DraftKings NFL $1.4M Wildcat Special
Cubasugar1 would use the same lineup to take the top two spots of the Wildcat garnering himself a $350,000 payday by doing so. He would have the Ingram/Gordon combo at RB and a Saints stack of Drew Brees, Brandin Cooks, and Michael Thomas coupled with strong games from Golden Tate (25 fpts at 1.9% ownership) and Frank Gore (21.1 fpts at .9% ownership) to put up a score of 204.72.
DraftKings NFL $1.2M Play-Action
Unshavenspyder would put up one of the biggest scores of the day with a lineup that topped 230 points. He would have the magical trio of RB’s in Gordon/Ingram/Murray along with an Aaron Rodgers and Nelson stack. Add in 40 points from the two Antonios (Gates and Brown) and the 25 points from Tate and it’s easy to see how he put up this monster score on his way to winning the Play-Action.
FanDuel $1.25M Sunday Million ($300K to 1st)
The Sunday Million would be a thriller with guymuntag edging out jackatmag by the slimmest of margins (.36 fpts). Jackatmag would have quite the contrarian lineup with Marcus Mariota (27.92 fpts at 2.3% ownership), Rishard Matthews (21.3 fpts at .4% ownership), and an under-owned Odell Beckham Jr. (18.6 fpts at 14.2% ownership) to go along with the likes of Gordon, Elliott, and Gates. It wouldn’t be enough however as guymantag would utilize a Packers stack of Rodgers/Adams/Nelson along with Gordon/Ingram/Witten to take the top spot.
FanDuel $1M Sling TV Rush ($100K to 1st)
Fduca86 crushed the competition with a final score of 188.72 to collect a massive six-figure payday. Mariota and Gordon would headline the team that he surrounded with key pieces like Witten, Ajayi, Rishard Matthews, and Jordy Nelson.
FanDuel $600K Monster ($100K to 1st)
The great day from Melvin Gordon again made his appearance in a winning lineup as he helped bignick79 win the Monster yesterday with a score of 166.62. A Saints stack of Brees/Cooks/Thomas along with Ajayi and a big game from Mike Wallace (20.4 fpts) would round out his great team.
