Fantasy Football Millionaire Review: Week 7

The Millionaire review series will provide the reader with a breakdown of the exposures of “top of the leaderboard” players, the top single-entry lineup, and a comparison between all single entry lineups and professionals for the weekly DraftKings Millionaire Maker GPP.

This week, we looked at the $4.25M Fantasy Football Millionaire [$1M to 1st!] on DraftKings with a buy-in of $20 and maximum entry limit of 150 lineups per person.

Multi-Entry Grinders of the Game

BobbyFi took a typical route for GPPS in flexing wide receivers 80% of the time due to their increased upside and volatility. He followed it up by spreading the love over a handful of low-owned quarterbacks while fading the top chalk in Matt Ryan. With his running backs, he made a few chalk picks but picked up Le’Veon Bell and Devonta Freeman at high ownership due to their constant high potential in even non-sexy matchups (combined with being relatively low-owned). His wide receiver picks featured the who’s who of top scoring receivers on the weekend: A.J. Green, Mike Evans, Jamison Crowder, Tyrell Williams, etc. On only 20 lineups, he managed a 64th place finish that featured most of his highly owned plays alongside Jay Ajayi and scored 224.06 points.

Shawnzhan took an unconventional route of flexing a running back through nearly one of his 150 lineups. However, you couldn’t argue too much with that strategy this week given the matchup and workload Demarco Murray would see combined with such value plays in Spencer Ware (Home vs NO), Jacquizz Rodgers, and Zach Zenner. Once again, he hit on many of the top WR options and featured a workload-heavy Jack Doyle as a main option in the famished Colts receiving core. Unlike BobbyFi’s one lineup score, Shawnzhan featured 16 lineups over 200 points, good for a 78.7% cash rate.

Youdacao focused on QB matchups as he leaned on Andy Dalton versus the Browns, Matt Ryan at home against a beat up Chargers secondary, and Philip Rivers playing catch-up in the Georgia Dome. Like the other pros, he took a heavy-handed approach to running back ownerships due to the obvious options and value to be had. The same could be said for his receiving core as we have seen the same names come up from each highlighted player. However, Youdacao took an interest in Golden Tate who had a breakout game last week and would be certainly in play this week due to arguably the best current cornerback in football shadowing Marvin Jones. He wasn’t able to put it all together too often as Youdacao just had 1 lineup in the top-2500 positions, but did play enough above-average plays to land a 64.7% cash rate.

Single-Entry Winner of the Game

Mrhsport3 differentiated himself from field by taking a number of studs in tough matchups. Nobody expected Andrew Luck to put up 30+ points on the road against a formidable Titans defense who matched up extremely well against the Colts wet-paper-bag O-line. However, if he did have a good game, it would unexpectedly come through T.Y. Hilton and Jack Doyle who were what were left of the Colts offensive weapons. When everyone saw Jay Ajayi output last week, it probably flashed back memories of a 2014 Jonas Gray ‘fluke’ game. However, Ajayi backed that up with another 200+ yard performance against a reformed Bills defense. While we have already discussed a few plays that defied expectation, we follow that up with David Johnson smack dab in a faltering offense going up against one of the leagues best overall defenses. This didn’t even phase DJ, as even without finding paydirt, he was central to the Cardinals attack by catching 8 passes and rushing for over 100 yards in a lackluster offensive battle. Mrhsport3’s performance wouldn’t be complete without mentioning Jeremy Hill who would in a great position versus the Cleveland Browns. As the first and second down back, he was certain to see much late game action in what would be considered a blowout. With just 9 rushes due to a late-game injury, Hill exploded for 168 rushing yards and 1 TD.
