Jeff Samardzija : FD: $8,700 — DK: $9,000
Pitching Stats:
2014 – 2015: IP: 352.0 — SIERA: 3.34 — ERA: 3.40 — K%: 21.5% — BB%: 4.8% — HR/9: 0.9

Cleveland Indians Offense (2015)
vs. RH Pitching: wOBA: 0.305 (Rank: 21) — Strikeout Rate: 18.6% (Rank: 7)
Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.303 (Rank: 18) — Strikeout Rate: 17.8% (Rank: 6)
Pitchers per PA: 3.92 (Rank: 3)
Analysis: Samardzija has been terrific over the last month of play, posting a 2.61 ERA. His indicators haven’t been quite as solid, but at least he is pitching better than he did to start the season. He draws a fairly difficult matchup tonight against the Indians, who have a lineup full of left-handed hitters to throw at him. He may pitch well here, but his strikeout potential is limited. Cleveland has the seventh-lowest strikeout rate against right-handed pitching and they average the third-most pitches per plate appearance this season.
Pitcher Rating:58.3
Trevor Bauer : FD: $8,400 — DK: $8,700
Pitching Stats:
2014 – 2015: IP: 262.1 — SIERA: 3.94 — ERA: 4.12 — K%: 22.3% — BB%: 9.4% — HR/9: 1.0

Chicago White Sox Offense (2015)

Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.292 (Rank: 24) — Strikeout Rate: 22.3% (Rank: 24)
Pitchers per PA: 3.76 (Rank: 22)
Analysis: Bauer has had some bad luck recently. Over the last month of play, there has been nearly a two and a half run difference between his SIERA and his ERA. Some positive regression should be coming his way soon enough. That could start as early as tonight against the White Sox, who are ranked 25th in wOBA and 15th in strikeout rate against right-handed pitching. Clayton Kerhsaw is the obvious route in cash games, but Bauer is a nice contrarian option for tournaments.
Pitcher Rating:72.3

Chicago White Sox
The White Sox draw an average matchup against Trevor Bauer tonight in Cleveland. Bauer is a reverse-splits pitcher, so if you are targeting any hitters from this lineup, give the advantage to the ones that can hit from the right side of the plate. A discounted Jose Abreu makes a great play tonight, while Tyler Saladino offers good value on DraftKings.

Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.313 (Rank: 16) — Strikeout Rate: 18.9% (Rank: 11)
Pitchers per PA: 3.86 (Rank: 8)
Analysis: Use Kershaw in your cash game lineups tonight. Just do it and thank me later. His price is expensive, which will hopefully scare some people off of him tonight. Even at his salary, I still expect him to return value. He draws the best matchup on the board, as he gets to face a Mets’ offense that is ranked 27th in wOBA and 27th in strikeout rate against left-handed pitching this season. Kershaw has been absolutely dominant in his recent starts and I expect that trend to continue tonight.
Pitcher Rating:99.5

Pitchers per PA: 3.88 (Rank: 5)
Analysis: Colon is one of those pitchers that is rarely on my radar in daily fantasy. He has an average SIERA with a slightly-below average strikeout rate and he plays for a team that has one of the worst offenses in baseball. I expect the Mets to put up no fight tonight against Clayton Kershaw, which means Colon may not even get the win if he holds the Dodgers scoreless. I’m pulling an all out fade of the Mets tonight.

LA Dodgers
Even though Citi Field may not be the best ballpark for offensive production, the Dodgers’ offense is in a good spot tonight against Bartolo Colon, who throws fastballs for around 90% of his pitches. The Dodgers are one of the best hitting teams against right-handed pitching and hitters from both sides of the plate are in play tonight.

Analysis: Young is one of the easiest pitchers to avoid in all of daily fantasy baseball. He has an above-average SIERA with a below-average strikeout rate. He has not been sharp in his recent starts and he draws a difficult matchup against the Cardinals, who are ranked tenth in wOBA and ninth in strikeout rate against right-handed pitching this season.

Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.360 (Rank: 2) — Strikeout Rate: 14.0% (Rank: 1)
Pitchers per PA: 3.66 (Rank: 30)
Analysis: Lackey has had a 1.51 ERA over the last month of play, but we can’t expect him to keep that up for much longer. His SIERA during that stretch was at 4.34, which is actually higher than his SIERA over the last two seasons combined. We never like targeting pitchers against the Royals and that’s not going to change tonight. They have the fewest strikeouts of any team in baseball and it’s not even close.

The Royals are one of those teams that gets production from up and down their lineup. They don’t rely on one or two players to do the heavy lifting, which can make it difficult to predict who is going to perform well on a nightly basis. Analysis: Miley is an easy pitcher to avoid on most nights, especially when he is facing a talented offense like that of the Astros. On the season, Houston is ranked seventh in wOBA against left-handed pitching. They also lead the majors in home runs. Miley should be avoided in all league formats tonight, as the risk greatly outweighs the potential reward.

Pitchers per PA: 3.97 (Rank: 2)
Analysis: McCullers has really pitched well this season, posting a 3.27 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 27.1%. He is the real deal. His command is still somewhat of an issue, but the strikeout potential more than makes up for it. Tonight he faces a Red Sox offense that is ranked dead last in team wOBA over the last 14 days of play. He’s not the best cash game option tonight, but he makes a great tournament play, especially on FanDuel ($6,700).

Arizona
The Diamondbacks draw a favorable matchup against Mike Fiers, who has given up a .313+ wOBA to left and right-handed hitters this season. A stack is not out of the question here and I don’t mind targeting a couple of Diamondbacks hitters in cash games as well.
