The Blue Jackets finish up their four game road trip with a visit to Anaheim to face the 3-3 Ducks tonight. This is their third game in four nights so things could get a little dicey here but with six games on tonight’s slate, it may pay to find a nugget or two. Defenseman Zachary Werenski has burst onto the scene and has recorded five points so far with three of them coming on the power play. He could easily be used as a one-off here especially since Anaheim has given up a power play goal in four of the last five games. Boone Jenner, Brandon Dubinsky and Cam Atkinson play one line while Nick Foligno, Alexander Wennberg and Brandon Saad play on a second line for the Blue Jackets. Foligno and Wennberg lead the team in points with five along with Werenski so maybe taking a pair from the Dubinsky line is an option for GPP as there’s no doubt the Ducks will try to shut down Wennberg and company. Jenner was able to rifle off four shots last game while playing with Atkinson, so that may be the way to go.
Anaheim looked to be in a bit of trouble on Wednesday night as their leading scorer in Ryan Getzlaf had to sit this one out after getting hit in the forearm with a puck. Getzlaf should be in the lineup tonight and take his spot back on the top line with Corey Perry and Nick Ritchie. Oh, what happened without Getzlaf you ask? Well, it just so happens they blew out the Nashville Predators at home by a score of 6-1. Jakob Silfverberg finally got in the goal column as he scored on the power play and while killing a penalty. His line mates in Ryan Kesler and Andrew Cogliano also added goals in that game and although it ‘looks’ like we’d be chasing points here if we rostered them. This line makes for a good GPP play tonight on the short slate as Columbus is playing their third game in four nights on ‘the left coast’. Cam Fowler and Sami Vatanen are the choices on the point as they both play the point on the team’s top power play unit. They both lead the team in power play points with five and four respectively.
