Sports Info Solutions: MLB DFS Advice for Friday, August 17th

America’s pastime and daily fantasy sports are a perfect fit with an overload of data and statistics to analyze before making your lineup selections.
Because of the amount of information available to the DFS player, it can be a bit overwhelming, so I’ve tried to help you out by recommending a number of well-priced options by using Sports Info Solutions’ “SIS Model 3”.
SIS Model 3 gives DFS players an edge when setting their lineups as it uses the most expansive and accurate wealth of baseball data to create a tested DFS algorithm. You can learn more about the development of the algorithm in the RotoGrinders Marketplace.
Pitching Option
Robbie Ray, Arizona Diamondbacks (FD Price $8,300)

Ray is a strikeout machine (11.91 K/9) and faces a Padres lineup known to swing and miss. San Diego owns a next-to-last strikeout percentage (25.2 K %) and wOBA (.302). Ray is reasonably priced and could be a high-ceiling guy if he can get into the seventh inning or later.
Hitting Options
C/1B) Yonder Alonso, Cleveland Indians (FD Price $3,700)
Alonso has hit 16 of his 20 home run against RHP and fill face the Orioles’ David Hess, who is allowing opposing LHB a .371 wOBA which gets worse on the road (.379 wOBA).
2B) Daniel Murphy, Washington Nationals (FD Price $3,300)
The lefty’s bat has come to life, batting .359 since the All-Star break (.407 wOBA). Murphy owns a .373 wOBA at home against RHP, while opposing starter Dan Straily is allowing a .355 wOBA to LHB.
3B) Jurickson Profar, Texas Rangers (FD Price $3,400)
Profar likes home cookin’. He owns a .396 wOBA against RHP in Arlington.
SS) Andrelton Simmons, Los Angeles Angels (FD Price $2,800)
Simmons is a “road warrior” batting .332 away from Anaheim (.363 wOBA). He’ll face a struggling Drew Hutchison (1-2, 6.07 ERA, .467 wOBA allowed in August).
OF) Justin Upton, Los Angeles Angels (FD Price $4,200)
Upton has produced a .398 wOBA in August and for the season has done most of his damage against RHP (.380 wOBA and 22 of 26 home runs). He’s also facing Hutchison, who owns a .389 wOBA against RHB.
OF) Kole Calhoun, Los Angeles Angels (FD Price $3,600)
Hutchinson also allows LHB a .408 wOBA, so the hot-hitting Calhoun is a perfect addition to our lineup. He’s posted a .422 wOBA in August after a .462 wOBA July.
OF) Eric Young Jr, Los Angeles Angels (FD Price $2,700)
Since being called up in late July, the switch-hitting Young has done a respectable job, batting .250, but he’s batting .316 on the road against RHP (.404 wOBA) so should be in the lineup. He faces Hutchison, who has allowed opposing LHB a .408 wOBA.88
UTIL) Joey Gallo, Texas Rangers (FD Price $3,000)
The slugger, known for his low batting average and high strikeout total is actually batting .314 in August with a .466 wOBA. He will go up against Odrisamer Despaigne in his first game since May 31 and first start since March 31. The pitcher is going to be rusty and vulnerable.
Stacking Option
When it comes time to draft a fantasy baseball team in DFS, stacking is a widely accepted strategy. There’s a reason: it works. If you want to win big, you will need a gigantic score, and stacking makes it easier to rack up the points because the scoring of batters in a given lineup is interrelated. Batters reaching base allows the hitters down the line to drive them in, creating something of a snowball effect.
Los Angeles Angels
Even without MVP Mike Trout, the Angels should put up points today. Upton and Calhoun are on fire, and add Simmons and Young Jr. in favorable matchups.
