Sports Info Solutions: MLB DFS Advice for Tuesday, July 3rd
America’s pastime and daily fantasy sports are a perfect fit with an overload of data and statistics to analyze before making your lineup selections.
Because of the amount of information available to the DFS player, it can be a bit overwhelming, so I’ve tried to help you out by recommending a number of well-priced options by using Sports Info Solutions’ “SIS Model 3”.
SIS Model 3 gives DFS players an edge when setting their lineups as it uses the most expansive and accurate wealth of baseball data to create a tested DFS algorithm. You can learn more about the development of the algorithm in the RotoGrinders Marketplace.
Pitching Option
Anthony DeSclafani, Cincinnati (FD Price $6,800)
DeSclafani pitched well last time out and faces a weak-hitting (.304 wOBA), high-strikeout prone (25.4 K %) Chicago White Sox offense. He’s just rounding into form after missing the first two months with an oblique injury.
Hitting Options
C/1B) Carlos Santana, Philadelphia (FD Price $3,300)
Santana has done his best work at Citizen’s Bank Park against RHP (.240 ISO, .373 wOBA). He ranks third overall in BB% behind only Mike Trout and Bryce Harper. Opposing starter Alex Cobb has struggled against LHB (.408 wOBA).
2B) Scooter Gennett, Cincinnati (FD Price $3,600)
You might not have thought it possible for Gennett to improve on last season, but he’s doing just that. He’s batting .336 with 13 HR, 54 RBI and a .384 wOBA. RHP Lucas Giolito has not fared well against LHB (.397 wOBA).
3B) Max Muncy, Los Angeles Dodgers (FD Price $4,000)
Muncy is in the midst of career-year production and we should keep using that to our advantage. He’s batting .271 with 18 home runs and a .428 wOBA. His wOBA jumped to .486 in June and July looks like more of the same as he homered Monday night.
SS) Chris Taylor, Los Angeles Dodgers (FD Price $2,900)
He’s a bargain at this price, with a solid .346 wOBA against RHP. Taylor reached base four times in the series opener against the Pirates and should keep producing against Ivan Nova.
OF) Scott Schebler, Cincinnati (FD Price $3,600)
Schebler produced big June numbers (.405 wOBA) and the calendar change hasn’t done anything to slow him down (.607 wOBA in two July games). Giolito struggles against LHB (.397 wOBA).
OF) Jesse Winker, Cincinnati (FD Price $3,200)
Here’s another LHB to go up against Giolito. Winker owns stunning statistics at home against RHP (.341 BA, .524 SLG, .410 wOBA).
OF) Carlos Gonzalez, Colorado (FD Price $3,600)
He isn’t putting up superstar totals anymore, but he’s still extremely dangerous at Coors Field against RHP (.367 BA. .717 SLG, .467 wOBA). Opposing starter Chris Stratton yielded eight hits and five runs over four innings to these same Rockies last week in San Francisco.
UTIL) Gerardo Parra, Colorado (FD Price $3,500)
Parra bats .348 with a .378 wOBA against RHP so should get the start against Stratton.
Stacking Option
When it comes time to draft a fantasy baseball team in DFS, stacking is a widely accepted strategy. There’s a reason: it works. If you want to win big, you will need a gigantic score, and stacking makes it easier to rack up the points because the scoring of batters in a given lineup is interrelated. Batters reaching base allows the hitters down the line to drive them in, creating something of a snowball effect.
Cincinnati Reds
We already have Gennett, Schebler and Winker in the lineup and Joey Votto is just begging to be added to the lineup if you can fit him under the budget.
