Sports Info Solutions: MLB DFS Advice for Wednesday, August 29th

SIS

America’s pastime and daily fantasy sports are a perfect fit with an overload of data and statistics to analyze before making your lineup selections.

Because of the amount of information available to the DFS player, it can be a bit overwhelming, so I’ve tried to help you out by recommending a number of well-priced options by using Sports Info Solutions’ “SIS Model 3”.

SIS Model 3 gives DFS players an edge when setting their lineups as it uses the most expansive and accurate wealth of baseball data to create a tested DFS algorithm. You can learn more about the development of the algorithm in the RotoGrinders Marketplace.

Pitching Option

C.C. Sabathia, New York Yankees (FD Price $7,900)

The veteran left-hander has pitched well in August and has not allowed more than two runs in any of his four starts. He’s also produced a 12.63 K/9 over those 20.2 IP. The Chicago White Sox struggle against LHP, producing just a .305 wOBA with a major-league worst 26.5 K %.

Hitting Options

C/1B) Joe Mauer, Minnesota Twins (FD Price $2,600)

This isn’t about Mauer, who owns just a .310 wOBA against RHP, this is a vote against Cleveland’s Adam Plutko, as the right-hander has allowed a .452 wOBA to LHB and a .462 wOBA to LHB at Progressive Field.

2B) Scooter Gennett, Cincinnati Reds (FD Price $3,500)

Gennett has dominated RHP this season (.373 wOBA) and has been even better at home (.406 wOBA). Opposing starter Freddy Peralta has had difficulty with LHB on the road (.408 wOBA).

3B) Justin Turner, Los Angeles Dodgers (FD Price $4,100)

Now is not the time to get off the Turner bandwagon. He has posted four consecutive multi-hit games to bring his August batting average to .404 (.502 wOBA).

SS) Jorge Polanco, Minnesota Twins (FD Price $3,000)

Here is another left-handed bat to match up against Plutko. It doesn’t hurt that the switch-hitting Polanco has produced a .373 wOBA against RHP which rises to a .431 wOBA on the road.

OF) Aaron Hicks, New York Yankees (FD Price $3,900)

The switch-hitting Hicks is a better hitter as a LHB against a RHP (.369 wOBA). He faces Reynaldo Lopez who has allowed LHB a .359 wOBA on the road.

OF) Christian Yelich, Milwaukee Brewers (FD Price $4,000)

Yelich owns a .386 wOBA against RHP and has been hot since the All-Star break (.465 wOBA).

OF) Eddie Rosario, Minnesota Twins (FD Price $3,400)

It’s been another solid season for Rosario (.288, 22 HR, 73 RBI). He does most of his damage against RHP (.358 wOBA). Rosario will face Plutko, who we have already demonstrated can’t get out lefties.

UTIL) Luke Voit, New York Yankees (FD Price $2,600)

Voit only has 53 plate appearances this season, so opposing teams haven’t figured him out yet. He’s batting .313 with a .401 wOBA to date and .375 with a .497 wOBA against RHP. Ride the wave until opposing pitchers make the adjustment.

Stacking Option

When it comes time to draft a fantasy baseball team in DFS, stacking is a widely accepted strategy. There’s a reason: it works. If you want to win big, you will need a gigantic score, and stacking makes it easier to rack up the points because the scoring of batters in a given lineup is interrelated. Batters reaching base allows the hitters down the line to drive them in, creating something of a snowball effect.

Minnesota Twins – Installing as many Twins lefties in your lineup against Adam Plutko is a solid stack option. We already have Mauer, Polanco and Rosario in the lineup and Max Kepler could be a fourth option.
