Week 2 Quarterback Rankings

There are 32 quarterbacks playing in Week 2, with each team in the NFL playing their second game. Without further ado, the Week 2 fantasy football QB rankings:

1. Jalen Hurts – He somewhat struggled against a tough Patriots defense but gets a much easier matchup in Week 2 vs. the Vikings, as the Eagles sport one of the highest totals of the week.

2. Patrick Mahomes – He’s likely to get Kelce back in a great matchup vs. the Jaguars. The game features a close spread and even if Kelce were limited or out for this one, the Chiefs receivers can’t possibly play worse than they did in Week 1.

3. Josh Allen – The Bills have the highest total on the board and will be looking to rebound after a terrible Week 1. Allen has always struggled against the Jets and should have a much easier time against the weak defense of the Raiders.

4. Lamar Jackson – A tough divisional matchup against the Bengals that will likely need a lot of points scored to win. Jackson should hopefully have Mark Andrews back in Week 2, and even if not, JK Dobbins missing from their offense gives the potential for a lot more time with the ball in the hands of Lamar Jackson.

5. Trevor Lawrence – He’s going to have to have a great game to keep up with the Chiefs and Vegas currently thinks it’ll happen with the Jaguars only 3-point underdogs at home. Lawrence has a plethora of weapons and showed great chemistry with new receiver Calvin Ridley in Week 1.

6. Joe Burrow – He was awful in Week 1 after a fat new contract, but Burrow has always struggled against the Browns. Expect a bounce back in Week 2.

7. Justin Herbert – The Titans have an incredibly tough run defense, and the Chargers are going to have to be throwing the ball a lot to get ahead in this one.

8. Justin Fields – He struggled immensely in Week 1, but I still trust his upside this year. His rushing abilities make him too good to ignore, or fall much lower than this on the list.

9. Anthony Richardson – He showed strong rushing upside in Week 1 and got tackled on the 1-yard line just short of a second rushing touchdown. Richardson will be a viable starter for fantasy purposes and DFS darling all year long.

10. Tua Tagovailoa – The matchup isn’t super easy on the road against the Patriots, but Jalen Waddle and Tyreke Hill do a great job of racking up the fantasy points on Tua’s behalf.

11. Geno Smith – Mix and match Smith and Goff here; this is a great game environment that should have a lot of scoring.

12. Jared Goff – Mix and match Smith and Goff here; this is a great game environment that should have a lot of scoring.

13. Brock Purdy – The 49ers QB showed no signs of rust or struggle from his injury last year and looks poised for a big season with elite options in the passing game.

14. Kirk Cousins – It’s a tough matchup, but he will likely be playing from behind in this one and will have to keep forcing it to Jefferson and Hockenson to keep it close.

15. Jordan Love – I’m not quite ready to admit I was wrong about Love and Green Bay after one win against the Bears, but he might be for real.

16. Ryan Tannehill – He showed strong chemistry with DeAndre Hopkins right off the bat and gets a strong matchup vs. the Chargers.

17. Daniel Jones – The Cardinals’ defense is a much easier matchup than the Cowboys, he should rebound this week.

18. Dak Prescott – Tough matchup vs. the Jets, but the Cowboys are a good team who should be able to persevere through to a decent performance.

19. Derek CarrChris Olave and Michael Thomas are both healthy and looking dangerous for the Saints. I still don’t trust Carr, but he really just needs to be semi-decent to perform well from a fantasy perspective in this offense.

20. Mac Jones – He gets a great matchup against Miami and the Patriots are playing much faster this year with Bill O’Brien as offensive coordinator. Hopefully, Davante Parker is back.

21. CJ Stroud – The Colts are terrible and Stroud through 44 passes in Week 1, I think he’s viable to start this week if it’s necessary.

22. Russell Wilson – Sean Payton may not be enough to save his career, but he should be able to muster a better Week 2.

23. Jimmy Garoppolo – Jimmy G looked decent in Week 1 and will likely be playing from behind most of the game vs. the Bills.

24. Matthew Stafford – The matchup is terrible against the 49ers, who looked great in Week 1. However, apparently Stafford is still going to be allowed to sling it like crazy, even without Kupp.

25. Deshaun Watson – Tough matchup vs. the Steelers, and I still don’t think Watson will be great this year.

26. Sam Howell – He’s going to be allowed to throw the ball a lot all season, and he has the weapons to put up some decent performances.

27. Baker Mayfield – Baker didn’t look so bad in Week 1 and even managed to lead his team to victory. Cool, I still don’t really want to play him.

27. Kenny Pickett – The Browns proved to be a tough defense in the first week against the Bengals. Pickett has some rushing upside, but he’s still near the bottom of the list.

29. Desmond Ridder – The Packers’ defense ate up Justin Fields this week and I don’t trust Ridder’s chances against them.

30. Bryce Young – New Orleans has a strong defense, and I’m not interested in playing Young in any format at this point in the year.

31. Joshua Dobbs – They almost won in Week 1…Cool! Next.

32. Zach Wilson – Poor Jets fans.

Fantasy Football QB Notes

Most of the top options are looking to bounce back after a tough Week 1. The top 4 is the same once again and Jalen Hurts very narrowly tops Patrick Mahomes as the #1 Week 2 fantasy football QB. Those who recently lost Aaron Rodgers will likely be looking for a replacement and in 10-12 team leagues will have to target someone like Anthony Richardson, Brock Purdy or Jordan Love, but hopefully no lower than CJ Stroud.

The Chiefs and Jaguars game is the closest spread of the high total games and should be a shootout. Travis Kelce is likely to return and both offenses should be scoring a lot of points in this matchup. It’s undoubtedly my favorite for DFS game stacking this week. Jared Goff and Geno Smith stand out as the other matchup with high fantasy upside in Week 2. Trevor Lawrence and Patrick Mahomes aren’t always the easiest to acquire in season-long fantasy so Goff and Smith provide nice potential as fill-in starters for those already struggling to find a steady hand early in the season.

These fantasy football quarterback rankings will be back each and every week to make sure you have the best chance at winning your matchups!
