This is a pretty jumbled mess for the Lakers on the backend of a back-to-back, but we should have clarity on this situation with this game just 30 minutes after lock. With Monk out, this should mean more playing time for Talen Horton-Tucker and Austin Reaves. If one or multiple of the James/Davis/Westbrook trio sit, the remaining would be elite options as their usage rates skyrocket. This is a spot we’ll just need to wait on because if all three end up playing, it’s a tougher sell.

If Wood can’t suit up, this likely will push Daniel Theis into the rotation and potentially a spot-start with the Rockets facing big-man Jusuf Nurkic on the other side. If Porter Jr. can’t go, Armoni Brooks is a candidate to spot start. Christopher’s potential absence could mean more Brooks in the second unit (if Porter Jr. plays) or more Garrison Mathews. This is a spot we’ll need to monitor closely.

Patrick Beverley (ankle) has been ruled out Thursday against the Golden State Warriors, while Jaylen Nowell (back) will be available to play. Jaden McDaniels will likely remain in the starting lineup for the Timberwolves with D’Angelo Russell likely to take over running point. Jaylen Nowell should handle the backup point guard duties.

It’s unclear who will join the starting lineup in his place but our projections team is currently putting Dwight Howard as the placeholder in the starting lineup.

This mid-day downgrade is obviously a concern, especially with Anthony Davis also likely still somewhat limited playing just 25 minutes in his first game back last game. Should James miss this game, Russell Westbrook and Davis would see significant usage bumps, while Talen Horton-Tucker would be a candidate to replace James in the starting lineup. CourtIQ shows that when James has been off the court this season, both Westbrook and Davis have averaged over 1.3 fantasy points per minute.

His return should push Matisse Thybulle back to the bench.

Dennis Smith Jr. (ankle) has been ruled out for Wednesday’s game against the Dallas Mavericks. With Smith Jr. out, Ben McLemore and CJ Elleby should split his bench guard minutes with any remaining minutes being spread out across the other rotational pieces slightly increasing the expected production of each player. Ultimately, Smith Jr.‘s absence should have very little ramifications in DFS contests.

The only surprising info here is that Tony Snell will get the start Wednesday against the Dallas Mavericks. Snell is a notoriously awful FPM producer so even with increased minutes he does not figure to be DFS relevant.
