Christian Wood

Los Angeles Lakers
5/07/21, 7:23 PM ET

Christian Wood (ankle) and Jae'Sean Tate ruled out Friday; Kelly Olynyk, DJ Augustin, Khyri Thomas, and Danuel House Jr. all available

The Rockets will have the minimum eight available players on Friday when they play the Milwaukee Bucks which means every player should see considerable minutes. We expect Kelly Olynyk, Armoni Brooks, KJ Martin, Anthony Lamb, and DaQuan Jefferies to start and play somewhere in the mid to upper 30’s with the bench players seeing around 20 minutes or so a piece. Most of the offense should run through Olynyk, Brooks, and Lamb but every Rockets player that is available could be considered somewhat of a value play tonight due to the sheer amount of minutes they should be forced to play.

Lineup Update: Pelicans will start Ball, Bledsoe, Marshall, Johnson, Hernangomez on Friday

5/07/21, 7:11 PM ET

Hernangomez will draw the start for Steven Adams and have Jaxson Hayes back him up off the bench, Marshall will enter the starting lineup for Zion, and Johnson will get the start for Ingram. These were the expected replacements after all the injury news broke for the Pelicans.

Joel Embiid

Philadelphia 76ers
5/07/21, 7:06 PM ET

Joel Embiid (injury recovery) will play Friday

Joel Embiid will be available to play Friday despite being a late addition to the injury report earlier in the day. He is expected to start and see his normal workload which will limit the playing time that Mike Scott and Dwight Howard could have seen if Embiid were to miss. Ben Simmons and Tobias Harris who stood the most to gain from a usage and FPM increase perspective with no Embiid should see their normal rates. With the Pelicans losing so many players to injury there is a potential this game turns into a blowout so be wary of playing the sixers in this matchup however it is possible for the sixers stars to reach value in limited minutes.

Romeo Langford

Philadelphia 76ers

Romeo Langford (concussion) available to play Friday

Romeo Langford who was listed as questionable all day is available to play Friday. We do not expect to see him garner much playing time and at this point he is not DFS relevant with the depth at the guard positions the Celtics have.

Status Update: Giannis Antetokounmpo (illness) a game-time decision Friday

Giannis Antetokounmpo is a game-time decision Friday. If Giannis is downgraded further to out it will be similar to what we have seen in the past with Khris Middleton and Jrue Holiday seeing massive FPM bumps and becoming top plays on the slate. Tucker’s availability means he will backup Giannis with Bobby Portis if Giannis can play and if he is out one of Portis or Tucker will likely slide into the starting lineup and both will see increased minutes with Portis being the better DFS play.

Jimmy Butler

Golden State Warriors
5/07/21, 6:32 PM ET

Jimmy Butler (illness) and Tyler Herro (foot) will play Friday

Jimmy Butler and Tyler Herro will both be available to play Friday when the Heat take on the Minnesota Timberwolves. They will most likely see their normal roles and minutes with Butler starting and Herro being the top bench guard. This will limit the upside that Igoudala, Dtagic, and Strus could have seen if they were to miss. All Heat players will most likely see their normal minutes with the offense running primarily through Butler, Adebayo, and Duncan Robinson.

Tristan Thompson

Cleveland Cavaliers
5/07/21, 6:22 PM ET

Tristan Thompson (chest) will play Friday without a minutes limit

Tristan Thompson will be available to play Friday without a minutes limit. With Robert Williams having just been ruled out ahead of Friday’s game against the Chicago Bulls, Thompson will likely start and play the bulk of the center minutes with Luke Kornet and Tacko Fall backing him up. Coach Brad Stevens also mentioned that Grant Williams will play some small ball five during this game. Thompson should be considered a strong play at his price point due to the amount of minutes that he should see with no Robert Williams.

Robert Williams III

Portland Trail Blazers
5/07/21, 6:19 PM ET

Robert Williams (toe) ruled out Friday

Robert Williams has been ruled out ahead of Friday’s game against the Chicago Bulls. Tristan Thompson (who was ruled in) will likely start and play the bulk of the center minutes with Luke Kornet and Tacko Fall backing him up. Coach Brad Stevens also mentioned that Grant Williams will play some small ball five during this game. Thompson should be considered a strong play at his price point due to the amount of minutes that he should see with no Robert Williams.

Steven Adams

Houston Rockets
5/07/21, 6:11 PM ET

Steven Adams (toe) and Nickeil Alexander-Walker (ankle) ruled out Friday

As expected with a doubtful tag coming in to the day Steven Adams will not be available Friday when the Pelicans take on the Philadelphia 76ers. One of Willy Hernangomez or Jaxson Hayes will most likely draw the start in his stead with Willy being the more likely option and better FPM producer. When running CourtIQ with Adams off the floor the biggest benefactor from an FPM increase perspective is Lonzo Ball (.11). With Alexander-Walker still out Kira Lewis will remain as the only true backup point guard and should see some considerable run. With Adams, Ingram, and Zion out tonight Lonzo and becomes a much stronger play although he has a tough matchup with a good 76ers defense and Willy Hernangomez is a good value play though his price has risen somewhat.

Kevin Love

Utah Jazz
5/07/21, 5:59 PM ET

Kevin Love (knee) listed questionable Friday

Kevin Love is a late addition to the injury report and is listed questionable for Friday when Cleveland takes on the Dallas Mavericks. If Love were to miss Dean Wade could make his way into the starting lineup and Anderson Varejao could see some more minutes off the bench. With Kevin Love off the court the biggest benefactors from an FPM increase standpoint are Jarrett Allen and Damyean Dotson who both see an increase of .03. If Love were to miss the Cavs players to consider are Allen due to an FPM increase and Wade and other Cavs depth as value plays due to increased playing time from Love’s vacated minutes.

Giannis Antetokounmpo (illness) listed probable Friday; PJ Tucker available

Giannis Antetokounmpo is listed as probable ahead of Friday’s matchup with the Houston Rockets while PJ Tucker has been upgraded to available.

Joel Embiid

Philadelphia 76ers
5/07/21, 7:27 PM ET

Status Update: Joel Embiid (injury recovery) a game-time decision Friday

Joel Embiid is a game-time decision Friday. If Embiid were to miss Mike Scott or Dwight Howard would likely draw the start at center and split time with the other. When looking at CourtIQ with Embiid off the floor the big winners are Tobias Harris (4% usage rate increase, .12 FPM increase) and Ben Simmons (3.2% and .04) while Shake Milton, George Hill, Matisse Thybulle, and Tyrese Maxey all see boosts as well. Tobias Harris and Ben Simmons would become much better plays from a production standpoint if Embiid were to miss while Howard and Scott would see a large increase in minutes and could offer some value.
