Status update: Moe Wagner available to make Magic debut Wednesday
Wagner is available to make his Magic debut against the Cleveland Cavaliers, and he’s likely to play limited minutes. He most likely will chip in at center, but there’s a chance he could play a few minutes at the four alongside Wendell Carter or Mo Bamba. Carter and Bamba have some more volatility behind their minutes now that Wagner is around.
As reported by: Roy Parry via TwitterStatus update: James Ennis will start Wednesday; will have a minutes limit
Ennis will return to the starting lineup as the Magic prepare to play the Cleveland Cavaliers. Dwayne Bacon will move to the bench as a result, and will likely lose the most minutes as a result. Coach Corbin mentioned that Ennis would be on a minutes limit; it’s unlikely he ends up playing enough to be DFS worthy, as he usually doesn’t produce well per minute.
As reported by: Roy Parry via TwitterMarcus Smart (suspension) ruled out Wednesday
In a big surprise, Smart was suspended due to threatening language towards an official last night, and will miss the game against the Charlotte Hornets. The Celtics will also be without Kemba Walker, so the Celtics will be severely shorthanded for their backcourt. Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown were already good plays without Kemba, but now may play more minutes and have more usage as a result. Payton Pritchard is certainly the biggest winner, as the Celtics will need him to run point and could end up getting more minutes. Evan Fournier also may be in line for minutes; he played 35 last night after being on a restriction earlier in the week. If Pritchard or Fournier ends up starting, they’ll be even better plays, but this should be the Tatum and Brown show.
As reported by: Shams Charania via TwitterKevin Huerter (shoulder) ruled out Wednesday; Kris Dunn will have minutes restriction increaed
Huerter was listed as doubtful, and was ultimately ruled out due to a shoulder injury and will miss the game against the Philadelphia 76ers. Bogdan Bogdanovic and Brandon Goodwin will both be game-time decisions, so the Hawks could be severely shorthanded in the backcourt. Coach McMillan mentioned that Kris Dunn will have his minutes limit increased, so he’s certainly one winner. Lou Williams will also play more minutes for sure, even if he doesn’t start. McMillan also said that Nathan Knight could play at small forward, so there Hawks may end up playing some huge lineups. Goodwin and Bogdanovic would both be elite plays if they play, and if they both sit it will be as many minutes as Lou, Skylar Mays, and Dunn can handle.
As reported by: Mike Conti via Twitter Other tagged players: Kris DunnDuncan Robinson (illness) now questionable Wednesday
Robinson was added to the injury report with an illness, and is now questionable to play against the San Antonio Spurs. This is on top of having Kendrick Nunn and Tyler Herro questionable as well. If Robinson sits, it’s likely more minutes for Goran Dragic and Andre Iguodoala, with Gabe Vincent possibly re-entering the rotation as well. If Herro and Nunn both sit, it’ll be even more minutes for Dragic and Vincent, as the Heat would be severely shorthanded in the backcourt. Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo would certainly gain some usage, while there would be some viable punts as well for the team.
As reported by: the Official NBA Injury ReportHarrison Barnes (adductor) ruled out Wednesday; Marvin Bagley (hand) listed doubtful
The injuries continue to pile on for the Kings as they prepare to play the Utah Jazz. Barnes was ruled out due to an adductor injury he suffered last game, while Bagley was listed as doubtful due to a hand injury. It’s an upgrade for Bagley, who’s been out for six weeks since he broke his hand, but he’s still likely to sit. The Kings remain without De’Aaron Fox due to the health and safety protocols, so they will be super shorthanded from a production standpoint, as Fox and Barnes play the most minutes on the team. The Kings will likely start Terrence Davis in place of Barnes, but they could go with Delon Wright as well. Whoever starts could be a good value piece, but the majority of the production should come from Tyrese Haliburton, Richaun Holmes, and Buddy Hield.
As reported by: the Official NBA Injury Report Other tagged players: Marvin BagleyAlec Burks (protocols) listed available to play Wednesday
After missing six games due to the health and safety protocols, Burks is listed as available to return tonight against the Chicago Bulls. Burks had been playing off the bench and subbing in for Reggie Bullock, who is certainly the biggest loser of this news. Bullock has averaged 37 minutes a game since Burks went out; he’ll lose the most with Burks coming back. There’s a chance that Burks gets eased into action, as we’ve seen many players not get full run after being out for so long in the protocols, but coach Thibodeau is known for playing his regulars heavy minutes, so it’ll be interesting to see how Burks gets deployed.
As reported by: the Official NBA Injury ReportJames Ennis (calf) listed available Wednesday; Terrence Ross (back) listed out
The Magic will be getting one of their wings back as they prepare to play the Cleveland Cavaliers. Ennis was upgraded from questionable with a calf injury to available, and will return from a five game absence. Ross was downgraded from doubtful with a back injury to out, and will miss his sixth straight game as a result. Ennis will likely take his starting lineup spot back from Dwayne Bacon, although there’s a chance Bacon stays in the starting lineup. The Magic will now have 11 healthy bodies, although four of those primarily play center. Heavy minutes should continue for Cole Anthony, but Bacon and Gary Harris may lose a few now that Ennis is back.
As reported by: the Official NBA Injury Report Other tagged players: Terrence RossBogdan Bogdanovic (hamstring) now questionable Wednesday
The Hawks added Bogdanovic to their already lengthy injury report ahead of their game against the Philadelphia 76ers. Bogdanovic was listed as questionable due to a hamstring injury; if he sits, the Hawks backcourt could be in perilous position. Already without Trae Young, Kevin Huerter is doubtful with a shoulder injury, while Brandon Goodwin is questionable with an ankle injury. If Goodwin and Bogdanovic both sat, the backcourt would have to rely solely on Lou Williams and Skylar Mays. If either ends up playing, they’ll both be great plays as they will be in line for heavy minutes with so many Hawks missing. John Collins and Clint Capela would also have higher usage as a result. The Hawks game is at the same time as lock, so at least we will get the news before hand; it’s arguably the biggest news on the slate.
As reported by: the Official NBA Injury ReportRobert Williams (knee) and Jayson Tatum (ankle) not listed on injury report Wednesday
The Celtics will be getting two of their starters back as they prepare to play the Charlotte Hornets. Tatum will return after missing last night’s game with an ankle injury, while Williams will return from a seven game absence due to a knee injury. Kemba Walker will miss his second straight game due to a side strain, but he should be the only player missing from the team. It’ll be interesting to see if Williams get his spot back in the starting lineup, or if coach Stevens wants to ease him into shape, and keep Tristan Thompson in the starting lineup. Fortunately, we should get the news before lock as the Celtics game is earlier in the slate. With no Kemba, Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown each see bumps per CourtIQ; Brown averages 1.27 FPM, up from his average of 1.19, while Tatum averages 1.32, up from his 1.25 average. Both players will lead the way for the Celtics as they look to bounce back from a 3 game losing streak.
As reported by: Tim Bontemps via Twitter Other tagged players: Jayson TatumLineup update: Mavs will start Doncic, Burke, Finney-Smith, Kleber, and Powell on Tuesday
In a surprise, the Mavs will start Trey Burke in place of Josh Richardson Tuesday. Burke played 28 minutes yesterday after being out of the rotation for six games. Tim Hardaway Jr. was expected to start as he did yesterday, but this likely means Burke gets a good bump in minutes, while THJ and Jalen Brunson’s ceilings are both lowered.
As reported by: the Dallas Mavericks via Twitter Other tagged players: Tim Hardaway Jr.Lineup update: Rockets will start Porter Jr., House, Tate, Olynyk, and Wood on Tuesday
The Rockets had four spots in their starting lineup set, while their fifth one was open. Instead of starting Armoni Brooks or Avery Bradley, the Rockets will start Danuel House at the shooting guard position. House will likely have the lowest usage of the starters, but he does have an avenue to play a few more minutes. This also makes it much tougher for Brooks or Bradley to make value.
As reported by: Adam Wexler via Twitter Other tagged players: Armoni BrooksLuka Doncic (elbow), Dorian Finney-Smith (leg), JJ Redick (heel), and Maxi Kleber (back) all available to play Tuesday; Kristaps Porzingis (ankle) and Josh Richardson (hamstring) ruled out
The Mavs had four players questionable, and two players doubtful earlier on the injury report as they prepare to play the Golden State Warriors. All of the questionable players were upgraded to available, while Porzingis and Richardson were downgraded from doubtful to out and both will miss their third straight game. With no KP and Richardson, it’s likely the Mavs run the same starting lineup; Tim Hardaway Jr. will likely slot in at the shooting guard position, while Dwight Powell should continue to start at center alongside Kleber. Luka shows slight bumps up, but not major splits with no KP or Richardson. The biggest winner is THJ; he averages 0.9 FPM, up form his average of 0.79 per CourtIQ. He’ll also get more minutes as a result. Finney-Smith, Jalen Brunson, and Burke will all play a few more minutes in the backcourt. In the frontcourt, Powell and Willie Cauley-Stein will likely split the center minutes, and both will have a chance to make value, but they haven’t shown the minutes upside that you’d hope for at the center position. Overall, Luka will be the top play, but THJ will be one of the best values on the slate.
As reported by: Tim McMahon via Twitter Other tagged players: Kristaps Porzingis, Dorian Finney-Smith, J.J. Redick, Josh Richardson, Maxi KleberLineup update: Nets will start Irving, Shamet, Harris, Durant and Green Tuesday
The Nets will be going small as they prepare to play the Raptors. Durant will start as expected, but Jeff Green will start at center, a mild surprise as it was expected that DeAndre Jordan or Blake Griffin would start at center. There’s a chance that Jordan gets phased out of this game, as Blake Griffin can play the backup center minutes, but this is a boost for both Green and for Shamet, who stays in the starting lineup.
As reported by: Alex Schiffer via Twitter Other tagged players: Jeff GreenLineup update: Pacers will start Brogdon, Sumner, LeVert, Brissett, and Sampson on Tuesday
As expected, the Pacers will have the same frontcourt; Brissett and Sampson will start again. Both players have a chance for high minutes and high upside as has been the case with no Goga.
