Status update: Danuel House Jr will have his minutes watched "extremely close" Saturday, per Coach Silas
In his pregame news conference, coach Silas mentioned that House would have his minutes monitored “extremely close” against the Denver Nuggets. He didn’t mention his starters yet, but if House starts, we know he will get some minutes at least. If he comes off the bench, his floor is significantly lowered. This should still mean plenty of minutes for Armoni Brooks, Kelly Olynyk, and Jae’Sean Tate.
As reported by: Cayleigh Griffin via TwitterLineup update: Mavs will start Doncic, Hardaway, Finney-Smith, Kleber, and Powell Saturday
Rather than start Jalen Brunson, the Mavs are opting to start THJ in place of Josh Richardson. Also, Kleber returns to start at PF, while Powell stays in the lineup at center.
As reported by: Harrison Faigen via TwitterKentavious Caldwell-Pope (ankle) ruled out Saturday; Ben McLemore will start in place
KCP was ruled out due to his ankle sprain and will miss the Lakers game against the Dallas Mavericks. In a slight surprise, McLemore will get the start in his place, after only playing spot minutes the last few game. Still, his spot in the starting lineup should lead him to get minutes at least in the teens, and likely in the 25-28 range.
As reported by: Mike Trudell via Twitter Other tagged players: Ben McLemoreJaylen Nowell (tibia) available to play Saturday; coach Finch mentioned he may not crack the rotation
In his pre-game news conference, coach Finch mentioned that Nowell would be available to play against the Utah Jazz. However, Finch said he’s “pretty comfortable” with where the rotation is at, so it’s not all that likely that he plays. If he does, it’ll be at most a few spot minutes, taking away from Jordan McLaughlin.
As reported by: Dane Moore via TwitterKristaps Porzingis (ankle) and Josh Richardson (hamstring) ruled out Saturday; Maxi Kleber (back) available to play
The Mavs will be without two of their starters as they prepare to play the LA Lakers. Porzingis and Richardson were both questionable with respective ankle and hamstring injuries, but were both downgraded. The Mavs will get Kleber back, as he was cleared to play through his back spasms. With no Porzingis and no Richardson, it’s likely that Jalen Brunson and Kleber join the starting lineup. From a production standpoint, Tim Hardaway Jr. has the biggest bump; his FPM goes 0.85 to 0.99 per CourtIQ. Luka Doncic doesn’t see big bumps with one of them on the floor, but does so when both are off the floor and leads the team with a 1.63 FPM average. Doncic, THJ, and Brunson are the biggest winners ahead of their matchup
As reported by: the Dallas Mavericks via Twitter Other tagged players: Josh Richardson, Maxi KleberKentavious Caldwell-Pope (ankle) a game-time decision Saturday; Marc Gasol (finger) available
KCP will be a game-time decision due to an ankle injury ahead of the game against the Dallas Mavericks. If he sits, he’ll end up being replaced likely by Wesley Matthews, but his rates aren’t great, and with AD back, the Lakers wing situation is one to avoid, regardless of KCP’s status. Gasol is listed as available, but he likely won’t play as Drummond and Harrell have been the center rotation.
As reported by: Chuck Cooperstein via Twitter Other tagged players: Marc GasolAnthony Davis (calf) will play up to 25 minutes, and will play both halves Saturday
In his pre-game news conference, coach Vogel mentioned that Anthony Davis will play up to 25 minutes, and he will manage his minutes so he can play both halves against the Dallas Mavericks. Davis was previously at a 15 minutes restriction, so this is a pretty quick bump up and a good sign for his health. His minutes will come at the expense of Markieff Morris mostly.
As reported by: Kyle Goon via TwitterDeMar now (quad) available to play Saturday
DeRozan was upgraded from probable to available, and will play against the New Orleans Pelicans. DeRozan should be in line to start and lead the team in usage and play his usual role of 32-34 minutes.
As reported by: RJ Marquez via TwitterCory Joseph (ankle) and Jerami Grant (quad) will start Saturday
Joseph and Grant were both probable, and both cleared to play and will start against the Indiana Pacers. Joseph will continue to start over Hayes, while Grant will return to the lineup and start as expected.
As reported by: Omari Sanfoka via Twitter Other tagged players: Jerami GrantLineup update: Pacers will start Brogdon, Sumner, LeVert, Brissett, and Sampson on Saturday
Sampson will get his first start of the year, playing center, while Brissett moves to PF and Justin Holiday moves to the bench. As a result, Sampson will be a top value now that he’s starting, while Brissett’s ceiling is certainly reduced, as is Holiday’s.
As reported by: Scott Agness via TwitterDeMar DeRozan (quad) now probable Saturday; Rudy Gay (back) ruled out
DeRozan was upgraded from questionable with a quad injury to probable, while Gay was ruled out due to a back injury as the Spurs prepare to play the New Orleans Pelicans. With no Gay in the lineup, it’ll be more minutes for Keldon Johsnon, and likely a few more for Lonnie Walker as well. Gay doesn’t usually play that many minutes, so his 20 or so will be replaced by several players rather than just one or two, as Popovich likes to spread it around.
As reported by: Jim Eichenhofer via Twitter Other tagged players: Rudy GaySteven Adams (ankle) available to play; James Johnson (adductor) ruled out
Coach Van Gundy mentioned in his pre-game news conference that Adams would start and Johnson was ruled out for the Pelicans game against the San Antonio Spurs. With Johnson out, it’ll be a few more minutes for Naji Marshall and Jaxson Hayes.
As reported by: Christian Clark via Twitter Other tagged players: James JohnsonPatrick Williams (heel) available to play Saturday
Williams was listed as probable with a heal injury, and was ultimately upgraded to available as the Bulls take on the Miami Heat. Williams should continue to start at small forward, while playing minutes in the mid twenties.
As reported by: the Official NBA Injury ReportGoga Bitadze (ankle) and Jeremy Lamb (knee) ruled out Saturday; Doug McDermott (ankle) available to play
The Pacers will once again be super thin in the frontcourt as they prepare to play the Detroit Pistons. Goga Bitadze was ruled out due to an ankle injury, while Lamb was ruled out to a knee injury; this is with Sabonis and Myles Turner ruled out already. The Pacers will get McDermott back to help out at the power forward position, but the center will surely be thin, as it may be Oshae season yet again. Brissett started last game at center and played 42 minutes, a whopping number despite not really playing more than 25 minutes all year. He should be in line for big minutes again should he stay out of foul trouble, but there are other options to spell him now. JaKarr Sampson missed last game due to a suspension, and is available now and could play more. Amidah Brimah was recently signed to the team and may play a few minutes as well, but he’s not in the pool for most sites. LeVert and Brogdon should see bumps in usage, while Justin Holiday should move into the starting lineup at the four, backed up by McDermott.
As reported by: Tony East via Twitter Other tagged players: Jeremy Lamb, Doug McDermottStatus update: Danuel House (ankle) listed active, but may not play Saturday
The Rockets are presenting us with a quite tricky situation ahead of their game against the Denver Nuggets. Originally, there was a report that listed ten Rockets as out, including Danuel House, leaving them with only seven healthy bodies. However, the NBA league rules state that there must be eight players listed as “active” in order for a team to be eligible to play. A following injury report from reporters mentioned that House was listed as “active”, making him the eighth player for the Rockets. However, the Rockets could simply elect to make House “active”, but not end up playing him any minutes, leaving them with a seven man rotation. We are awaiting further clarity, but it’s possible that the Rockets do not play House despite his active designation, and they run a seven man rotation.
