Furkan Korkmaz (ankle) a late scratch Saturday
Korkmaz was ruled out for the game with an ankle sprain, after the game had already locked. The 76ers ruled Embiid out around 15 minutes before the game locked, but Korkmaz must have had an even later setback, so he’ll end up sitting.
As reported by: Kyle Neubeck via TwitterLineup update: Mike Scott will start for Joel Embiid Saturday
Scott gets the start for Embiid, instead of Howard. Scott’s floor is a bit higher as a result, but he rarely produces at high rates, and Howard may still be the better play off the bench.
As reported by: Keith Pompey via TwitterJoel Embiid (shoulder) scratched Saturday
Despite being cleared to play when actives were due, Embiid was ultimately ruled out due to his shoulder injury and will sit against the Milwaukee Bucks. With no Embiid, Mike Scott or Dwight Howard will get the start in his place most likely. From a production standpoint, Tobias Harris is a huge winner, as his usage skyrockets while Simmons and Embiid are off the floor. Shake Milton and George Hill should see upticks in usage, while Howard and Scott see upticks in minutes.
As reported by: Keith Pompey via TwitterFurkan Korkmaz (ankle) active Saturday
Korkmaz was upgraded from questionable to available, and will play against the Milwaukee Bucks. Korkmaz will play off the bench, and should be able to play his role off sharpshooter wing, and play around 19-23 minutes. With George Hill starting and getting more run into the rotation, Korkmaz’s ceiling may be limited.
As reported by: Justin Grasso via TwitterChristian Wood (ankle), Avery Bradley (illness), and Danuel House (ankle) all ruled out Saturday
The Rockets will be with only seven available bodies as they prepare to take on the Denver Nuggets. Wood, Bradley, and House were all active yesterday, but all are going to miss today’s game. Wood and House both have ankle injuries, while Bradley had an illness that caused him to miss yesterday’s game despite being ruled as active. With only seven bodies available, one of these three will likely be listed as active, but won’t play as all beat reporters have mentioned. With the sheer amount of minutes the team will have, anyone that is active is automatically a great play. Kelly Olynyk will start and should produce at the highest rate for the Rockets. Armoni Brooks and Jae’Sean Tate are the next best bets, followed by Kenyon Martin Jr. The last three Rockets are least likely to get big minutes, but at the same time, it’s a guarantee one of the three are on the floor at all times. DJ Wilson, Anthony Lamb and DaQuan Jeffries will all likely be able to pay off their minimum salaries, as the sheer lack of bodies makes the entire Rockets team in a great spot.
As reported by: Cayleigh Griffin via Twitter Other tagged players: Avery Bradley, Danuel House Jr.Will Barton (hamstring) out Saturday
As expected Barton will miss the Nuggets game against the Rockets with a hamstring injury he suffered last night. Barton will likely be out for multiple games, and the Nuggets will be shorthanded as they are without Jamal Murray and likely Monte Morris as well. It’s likely that PJ Dozier will get the start in his place, and play significant minutes as the Nuggets run out of bodies. A few more minutes for Austin Rivers can be expected as well.
As reported by: Mike Singer via TwitterStatus update: Joel Embiid (shoulder) a game-time decision Saturday; coach Rivers "thinks" he will play
In his pre-game news conference, Doc Rivers mentioned he thought Embiid would play, but wasn’t sure. If he suits up, he’ll be in a phenomenal spot with no Ben Simmons on the floor; his usage will shoot up dramatically. If he sits, Tobias Harris will be a huge winner, as he’ll lead the team in usage. Dwight Howard would be a good value play, as well as Mike Scott and Shake Milton.
As reported by: Eric Nehm via TwitterGoran Dragic (rest) and Tyler Herro (foot) ruled out Saturday
On the second half of a back-to-back, the Heat will be without their top bench guards as they prepare to play the Chicago Bulls. Dragic is being held out for injury management, while Herro will sit out due to a foot injury that’s caused him some issues over the last week. With both bench guards unavailable, Gabe Vincent should end up playing a few minutes off the bench, while it’s most likely that Kendrick Nunn gets a few more minutes on top of his usual role. Max Strus may also re-enter the rotation, but neither he nor Vincent will likely end up playing big minutes, and either produce well from a FPM perspective. Nunn is definitely the biggest winner of the news; he ends up averaging 0.95 FPM with both Dragic and Herro off the floor, up from his average of 0.83 per CourtIQ. He’ll also have to play more minutes. Duncan Robinson and Jimmy Butler may play a bit more as well, but Nunn’s certainly the biggest winner.
As reported by: the Official NBA Injury Report Other tagged players: Tyler HerroJaylen Nowell (tibia) now questionable Saturday
Nowell has been doubtful for a few games with a tibia injury, but was upgraded to questionable ahead of the Wolves game against the Utah Jazz. Nowell has missed four games with the injury, and if he does return will likely play spot minutes off the bench, taking a few away from Jordan McLaughlin, and a few more from Ricky Rubio and D’Angelo Russell.
As reported by: the Minnesota Timberwolves via TwitterJosh Richardson (hamstring) questionable Saturday
Richardson was added to the Mavs injury report with a hamstring injury, and is now listed as questionable ahead of the game against the Los Angeles Lakers. This is on top of having Kristaps Porzingis and Maxi Kleber both questionable as well, so there’s a chance the Mavs could be depleted. Richardson usually plays around 30 minutes a game, so if he were to sit, there would be some minutes to be allocated. Jalen Brunson would likely join the starting lineup, and would be a big winner; Tim Hardaway Jr. also would play more minutes, with a chance of Trey Burke or Josh Green re-entering the rotation.
As reported by: Brad Townsend via TwitterRodney Hood (knee) now ruled out Saturday
During his pre-game workout, Hood was ruled out due to his knee injury and will miss the game against the Knicks. This will lead to a few more minutes for Yuta Watanabe, but nothing too relevant as Hood wouldn’t have played many minutes.
As reported by: Blake Murphy via TwitterRodney Hood (knee) available to play Saturday
Hood was listed as questionable with a knee injury, but was ultimately upgraded to available as the Raptors prepare to play the New York Knicks. Hood has not played much since the Raptors got most of their regulars back, but he should play minutes in the teens of the bench.
As reported by: Aaron Rose via TwitterDerrick Jones Jr. (hip) available to play Friday
As expected, Jones Jr. was upgraded from probable with a hip contusion to available and will play against the Memphis Grizzlies. Jones will play off the bench and likely play minutes in the teens, taking away from Robert Covington and Carmelo Anthony.
As reported by: Jay Allen via TwitterLineup update: Mychal Mulder will start in place of Kent Bazemore on Friday; Kelly Oubre to continue to come off bench
Mulder will get the surprise start for the Warriors, in place of Bazemore. This certainly puts him in play as a viable punt, as he has a chance to play good sized minutes. Oubre will come off the bench, and should end up closing and play more minutes in place of Mulder, but may not get to his ceiling now that he has to come off the bench again.
As reported by: Wes Goldberg via Twitter Other tagged players: Kelly OubreJuan Toscano-Anderson (concussion) available to play Friday
The Warriors will get Toscano-Anderson back as he has cleared the concussion protocol and will be available to play against the Denver Nuggets. JTA missed the last two games, but should be back and may be thrust into big minutes right away. Coach Steve Kerr prefers to run a tight rotation, so JTA may be in line for 20 or so minutes off the bench, with upside for more.
