Marcus Morris (rest) scratched Friday
Other tagged players: Patrick PattersonLineup update: Hawks will start Huerter, Bogdanovic, Hill, Collins, Okongwu Friday
In a pretty big shock, Brandon Goodwin will not be starting for the Hawks; he’ll be coming off the bench as the Hawks run with point Huerter/Bogdanovic. Okongwu does get the start and will be a great value at minimum price across the industry, while Solomon Hill joins the starting lineup but rarely produces per minute. Okongwu the biggest winner for sure of this lineup, while Goodwin the biggest loser as he won’t be in line for his huge minutes. Collins also isn’t as good of a play as he was had he been at center.
As reported by: Brad Rowland via Twitter Other tagged players: Brandon Goodwin, Solomon HillLineup update: Nets will start Irving, Shamet, Harris, Green, and Jordan on Friday
Jordan will get the start at center, ahead of Blake Griffin Friday. At a cheap salary across the industry, he’s a good play assuming he can get minutes in the mid 20’s; with no Nic Claxton or Alize Johnson, the Nets are short on frontcourt depth, making Jordan a good punt play.
As reported by: Alex Schiffer via TwitterDanilo Gallinari (foot) available to play Friday
Gallinari is available to make his return after missing six games with a foot injury. It’s likely that Gallinari will come off the bench and play some limited minutes in his first game back, but he could take a few minutes away from Solomon Hill, and possibly John Collins as well. Gallinari himself may not be the best play, but his return caps the upside of the Hawks around him.
As reported by: Brad Rowland via TwitterLineup update: Wizards will start Westbrook, Neto, Beal, Bonga, and Len Friday
The Wizards will have one change to their starters; Bonga will take the start in place of the injured Deni Avdija. It was expected to be Davis Bertans, but Bonga will get the start and could get a few more minutes as a result. It’s still more likely that Bertans closes for the team, but his ceiling is certainly reduced now that he’ll be coming off the bench.
As reported by: Chase Hughes on TwitterLu Dort (hip) will start Friday
After being listed as questionable with a hip injury, Dort was upgraded to available and will start against the Washington Wizards. Dort missed the last two games with the injury, allowing Svi Mykhailiuk to start in his place. With Dort back, Svi will move to the bench, while this should take away some usage of Theo Maledon, Pokuseveski, and Darius Bazley.
As reported by: Rylan Stiles via TwitterDanuel House (ankle) will play off bench Friday
House will make his return from a ten game absence with an ankle injury, and will make his return off the bench against the LA Clippers. After being out for so long, it’s likely that House gets eased into action, but he should play around 18-20 minutes a game, taking away some minutes from Jae’Sean Tate as he works his way into game shape.
As reported by: Ben Dubose via TwitterRajon Rondo (wrist) ruled out Friday
Rondo was listed as questionable with a wrist injury, but was ultimately downgraded to out as the Clippers prepare to play the Houston Rockets. Rondo will miss his second straight game, and should cede backup point guard minutes to Yogi Ferrell, with Terrence Mann and Reggie Jackson getting a minute or two more. This should still be the Paul George show
As reported by: Shane Young via TwitterLineup update: Hornets will start Graham, Rozier, Cody Martin, Bridges, and Washington Friday
James Borrego mentioned pregame that he’s changing up his starting lineup; Washington will start in center in front of Vernon Carey, while Cody Martin will start in place of Jalen McDaniels. This is certainly a bump for Washington, as he plays best at center and has more certainty for his minutes now that he is starting. Carey shouldn’t be considered, and the other centers (Biyombo and Zeller) are total guesses and not worth playing either. Cody Martin may be a viable punt, but his minutes are not guaranteed despite the start.
As reported by: Sam Perley via Twitter Other tagged players: Cody MartinStatus update: Evan Fournier will play around 20 minutes Friday, minutes restriction will be in "the low 20's", per Coach Stevens
In his pre-game news conference, Brad Stevens confirmed that Fournier would be available to play, but would be on a minutes restriction ahead of the game against the Brooklyn Nets. Stevens said that Fournier will likely play 20 minutes, and his restriction is in the “low 20s”. As a result, it will be difficult for Fournier to achieve a ceiling despite the absences of Kemba Walker and Jaylen Brown.
As reported by: Keith Smith via TwitterTyler Herro (foot) will play Friday
After being listed as questionable with a foot injury, Herro was upgraded to available and will play against the Atlanta Hawks. Herro played 25 minutes last game off the bench, and should be in line for a similar role off the bench yet again. With Herro back, the guard rotation between him, Kendrick Nunn, Goran Dragic, and Duncan Robinson will be crowded as usual, and tough to project any player well.
As reported by: Tim Reynolds via TwitterClint Capela (back) and Tony Snell (ankle) ruled out Friday; Danilo Gallinari (foot) a game-time decision
The Hawks will be severely shorthanded as they prepare to take on the Miami Heat. Already without Trae Young, they will be without Capela who was downgraded from questionable with a back injury to out. Snell will sit out at as well as expected; he was doubtful with an ankle injury that has caused him to miss the last six games. Gallinari will be a game-time decision with a foot injury; he’s missed the last six games, and may not play big minutes if he ends up returning today. It’ll be interesting to see how the Hawks choose to go with their starting lineup. They could start John Collins at center and go with Solomon Hill at the four. The other option is starting Onyeka Okongwu in place of Capela and leaving the rest of the starting lineup in tact. Whoever gets the start will be a viable winner, but with no Capela, Collins certainly is the biggest winner. He only played 27 minutes last game, but could have to play a few more with the frontcourt depleted. There is a chance that the Hawks offense does awful overall; they have the lowest implied team total on the slate, but with no Capela and Trae, there’s value for Collins, Brandon Goodwin, and Hill or Okongwu, depending on who starts.
As reported by: Brad Rowland via Twitter Other tagged players: Tony Snell, Danilo GallinariStatus update: Mike James available to make Nets debut Friday
Mike James was officially signed to the Nets with a 10-day contract, and will be available against the Boston Celtics. James is a point guard who can help out with ballhandling duties when Kyrie needs a breather. He’s not in any of the rosters, but his presence could take a few minutes away from Landry Shamet and Bruce Brown.
As reported by: Malika Andrews via TwitterKevin Durant (thigh), Tyler Johnson (knee), and Alize Johnson (protocols) ruled out Friday
The Nets will be without KD once again as they prepare to to take on the Boston Celtics. Durant was downgraded from questionable with a thigh contusion to out, and will miss his third straight game as a result. Tyler Johnson was downgraded from doubtful to out with his knee injury, while Alize Johnson was ruled out due to the health and safety protocols. This should lead to a more condensed frontcourt, as Nic Claxton remains out due to the protocols as well. With no KD and still no James Harden, this will likely be the Kyrie show yet again. Irving averages 1.49 FPM with Harden, Durant, and the traded Caris LeVert off the floor per CourtIQ, up from his average of 1.31 FPM. Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan both show boosts up as well, and should be in line to play good minutes with the Nets frontcourt depleted. In the backcourt, it should be plenty of Joe Harris and Landry Shamet, with Bruce Brown chipping as well. Overall, Kyrie is certainly the best play of the team and will be one of the best on the slate.
As reported by: the Brooklyn Nets via Twitter Other tagged players: Tyler Johnson, Alize JohnsonKent Bazemore (protocols) ruled out Friday
The shorthanded Warriors will lose a key piece of their rotation ahead of their game against the Denver Nuggets. Bazemore was ruled out due to the health and safety protocols, a huge blow as he had been playing big minutes, including 35 last game. Damion Lee is also in the protocols, while Juan Toscano-Anderson is questionable to return from the concussion protocol. Coach Kerr only ran an eight man rotation last game, and with Bazemore leaving, it’s likely that he’ll do the same assuming JTA returns. Oubre will likely slide into his old starting position, and play big minutes; he played 35 last game off the bench, so he should be all systems go after missing a few games during an injury. Wiggins has averaged 39 minutes the last four games, and will continue to play big minutes. This should still be the Steph and Draymond show, but the minutes will certainly concentrate around all the starters. JTA’s injury looms large ahead of their game.
