Anthony Davis (hamstring) will play Tuesday; Alex Caruso (hamstring) ruled out
As expected, Davis has been upgraded from probable and will play in Tuesday’s matchup against the Philadelphia 76ers after missing one game due to a sore left knee, while Caruso has been ruled out and will remain sidelined for a second straight game with right hamstring soreness. In Davis’ absence, Kyle Kuzma ended up receiving the starting nod at power forward, and he was solid for fantasy purposes in 35 minutes of action in Sunday’s win, whereas Quinn Cook essentially stepped into Caruso’s role and logged 12 minutes off the bench. Davis is priced at a significant discount on daily fantasy sites compared to LeBron James, so he’ll be an intriguing option on an eight-game slate since he has a 29.2% usage rate, 15.3% assist rate, 14.8% rebound rate, and is averaging 1.45 DraftKings and 1.50 FanDuel points per minute on the season thus far.
As reported by: Mark Medina via Twitter Other tagged players: Alex CarusoFred VanVleet (shoulder) and Serge Ibaka (knee) officially out Tuesday
As expected, VanVleet and Ibaka have been downgraded from doubtful and won’t play in Tuesday’s matchup against the Phoenix Suns due to the respective ailments that have now forced them to miss three games, while Marc Gasol remains sidelined with left hamstring tightness and is still without a firm timetable for a return. In their absences, Rondae Hollis-Jefferson has started alongside Pascal Siakam in the frontcourt and was a bit underwhelming for fantasy purposes in just under 2t minutes of action in Sunday’s blowout loss, whereas Chris Boucher was allotted just nine minutes off the bench. Norman Powell returned from a lengthy injury layoff two games ago and hasn’t been hindered in the slightest following another fantastic fantasy performance in 40 minutes last time out, so he’ll be a great option on an eight-game slate, along with Kyle Lowry, who owns a +5.1% increase in usage rate and is averaging +0.11 more fantasy points per minute with VanVleet, Ibaka, and Gasol off the court this season.
As reported by: Eric Smith via Twitter Other tagged players: Serge IbakaJayson Tatum (illness) officially out Tuesday
As expected, Tatum has officially been downgraded from questionable and won’t play in Tuesday’s matchup against the Brooklyn Nets due to an illness, while Kemba Walker and Marcus Smart were both cleared to play despite dealing with their respective ailments. Stevens also disclosed that Walker will be subject to a minute restriction in his return from a five-game absence, though he didn’t specify what the exact number will be for tonight’s contest. With Tatum sidelined, Smart should remain in the starting lineup for at least one additional game, and he’s put together a few stellar fantasy performances in his latest stretch as a starter while logging at least 35 minutes in four of the previous five games. Other than Walker, who will be limited, Jaylen Brown has benefitted the most with Tatum off the court, as he owns a 27.7% usage rate and is averaging 1.03 DraftKings and 0.97 FanDuel points per minute in a 565.6 minutes sample size.
As reported by: Sean Grande via TwitterFred VanVleet (shoulder) and Serge Ibaka (knee) listed doubtful Tuesday
VanVleet and Ibaka have been downgraded from questionable on the latest Raptors’ injury report and are now doubtful for Tuesday’s matchup against the Phoenix Suns due to the respective ailments that have already forced them to miss two games, while Marc Gasol remains sidelined with left hamstring tightness and is still without a firm timetable for a return. Norman Powell returned from a lengthy injury layoff two games ago and hasn’t been hindered in the slightest following another fantastic fantasy performance in 40 minutes last time out, so he’ll be a great option on an eight-game slate, along Kyle Lowry, who owns a +5.1% increase in usage rate and is averaging +0.11 more fantasy points per minute with VanVleet, Ibaka, and Gasol off the court this season.
As reported by: NBA Official Injury Report Other tagged players: Serge IbakaDraymond Green (knee) and Kevon Looney (hip) out Tuesday
Green and Looney have officially been downgraded from questionable and won’t play in Tuesday’s matchup against the Denver Nuggets due to their respective ailments, while Ky Bowman remains sidelined for a third straight game with a sprained right ankle. In Green and Looney’s absences, Juan Toscano-Anderson and Dragan Bender ended up receiving the starting nod alongside Marquese Chriss in the frontcourt, but even though Bender was the far more productive for fantasy purposes, he was limited to just 19 minutes of action with head coach Steve Kerr utilizing small lineup combinations that featured Mychal Mulder more frequently. There is almost no sample size with Green, Looney, and Ky Bowman off the court since the NBA trade deadline, but Andrew Wiggins has a 26.4% usage rate and is averaging 1.11 DraftKings and 1.14 FanDuel points per minute in a 262.7 minutes sample and figures to see an even bigger boost in his usage and assist numbers this evening.
As reported by: Anthony Slater via Twitter Other tagged players: Kevon LooneyAnthony Davis (knee) listed probable Tuesday
Davis has been upgraded from questionable on the latest Lakers’ injury report and is now probable for Tuesday’s matchup against the Philadelphia 76ers due to a sore right knee that already forced him to miss one game, while Alex Caruso remains questionable to return from a one-game absence with right hamstring soreness. As reported by: NBA Official Injury ReportLaMarcus Aldridge (shoulder) and Marco Belinelli (illness) out Tuesday
As expected, Aldridge remains out and won’t play in Tuesday’s matchup against the Charlotte Hornets due to a strained right shoulder that has now forced him to miss four games, while Belinelli is a new addition to the Spurs’ injury report and has been ruled out because of an illness. Belinelli was only allotted six minutes off the bench in Monday’s loss, so his absence from the rotation won’t have too much of an impact on the remaining members of the active roster. With Aldridge and Jakob Poeltl both unavailable, Drew Eubanks ended up receiving the starting nod at the center position, but he was limited to just under 17 minutes of action as head coach Gregg Popovich opted to go small with Trey Lyles manning the five position for a majority of the aforementioned contest. Rudy Gay has managed to record at least 26 minutes in each of the previous two games, and he’s clearly been the main beneficiary with Aldridge and Poeltl off the court, as he owns a 25.3% usage rate and is averaging 1.17 DraftKings and 1.11 FanDuel points per minute in a 118.7 minutes sample size.
As reported by: Evan Closky via Twitter Other tagged players: Marco BelinelliKemba Walker (knee) and Marcus Smart (illness) will play Tuesday
Walker and Smart have officially been upgraded from their original injury designations and will play in Tuesday’s matchup against the Brooklyn Nets despite dealing with their respective ailments, while head coach Brad Stevens admitted to reporters at shootaround that Tatum likely won’t play due to an illness. Stevens also disclosed that Walker will be subject to a minute restriction in his return from a five-game absence, though he didn’t specify what the exact number will be for tonight’s contest. With Tatum likely sidelined, Smart should remain in the starting lineup for at least one additional game, and he’s put together a few stellar fantasy performances in his latest stretch as a starter while logging at least 35 minutes in four of the previous five games. Other than Walker, who will be limited, Jaylen Brown has benefitted the most with Tatum off the court, as he owns a 27.7% usage rate and is averaging 1.03 DraftKings and 0.97 FanDuel points per minute in a 565.6 minutes sample size.
As reported by: Adam Himmelsbach via Twitter Other tagged players: Marcus SmartJayson Tatum (illness) unlikely to play Tuesday
Tatum is still technically listed as questionable on the Celtics’ injury report, but head coach Brad Stevens admitted to reporters at shootaround that he likely won’t play in Tuesday’s matchup against the Brooklyn Nets due to an illness, while Kemba Walker and Marcus Smart were both cleared to play despite dealing with their respective ailments. As reported by: Adam Himmelsbach via TwitterDevonte' Graham (ankle) officially out Tuesday
As expected, Graham has officially been downgraded from doubtful and won’t play in Tuesday’s matchup against the San Antonio Spurs due to a sore left ankle, while Malik Monk is still sidelined as he continues to serve an indefinite league suspension. In his absence, Cody Martin appears to be the likeliest candidate to join the Hornets starting lineup, and he’s managed to log at least 25 minutes off the bench in four of the previous six games as head coach James Borrego continues with his latest youth movement in the rotation. This lineup change would slide Terry Rozier over to the point guard position and force him into absorbing the primary ballhandling responsibilities, whereas Joe Chealey could serve as the backup point guard after signing another 10-day contract earlier this morning. Unsurprisingly, several Charlotte players benefit from Graham and Monk being off the court, and Rozier, Martin, Miles Bridges all own a minimum of a +1.8% increase in usage rate and average at least +0.12 more fantasy points per minute over their normal season-long numbers.
As reported by: Charlotte Hornets PR via TwitterSpurs Gone Wild
Over the last two games, with LaMarcus Aldridge out and Jakob Poeltl limited to a total of four minutes, Trey Lyles has played 37 and 40 minutes. He has also taken 30 field goal attempts in these two matchups. What’s even better, the price tag has adjusted only slightly, but not enough to dissuade you from using Lyles in a great matchup against a weak defensive Charlotte team.
A Rozy Outlook
Charlotte will enter tonight’s home game versus the Spurs without Malik Monk and, most likely, without Devonte Graham too. Monk and Graham are the primary shooting guard options on this team and their absence will open up 24 shot attempts per game. I expect Terry Rozier to serve as a major scoring option in this offense tonight.
Luka Donic (thumb) will play Monday; Seth Curry (back) ruled out
As expected, Doncic has officially been upgraded from probable and will start in Monday’s second leg of a back-to-back set against the Chicago Bulls after missing one game due to a sprained left thumb, while Seth Curry will join Kristaps Porzingis on the inactive list with low back tightness. Doncic will almost certainly reclaim the starting point guard duties from Delon Wright, who was relatively solid for fantasy purposes in 32 minutes of action in Sunday’s win, whereas J.J. Barea essentially just served as the backup point guard and was limited to just under 17 minutes off the bench. In Porzingis’ absence, Maxi Kleber is the overwhelming candidate to join the starting lineup, and he’s managed to record between 28-30 minutes as a starter in the three previous games Porzingis has been sidelined for rest. In fact, Kleber, Doncic, and Tim Hardaway Jr. all own a minimum of a +2.3% increase in usage rate and are averaging at least +0.10 more fantasy points per minute over their normal season-long numbers.
As reported by: Brad Townsend via Twitter Other tagged players: Seth Curry, Willie Cauley-SteinCam Reddish (back) officially out Monday
As expected, Reddish has officially been downgraded from doubtful and won’t play in Monday’s matchup against the Memphis Grizzlies due to low back pain, while DeAndre’ Bembry, Clint Capela, and Dewayne Dedmon all remain sidelined with their respective ailments and are still without a firm timetable for returns. In Reddish’s absence, head coach Lloyd Pierce will utilize a big starting lineup with John Collins sliding over to power forward and Bruno Fernando receiving the start at the center position in tonight’s contest. However, since Damian Jones is available off the bench and Collins has the ability to play the five in smaller lineup combinations, Fernando typically has a volatile minute floor that relegates him to tournament-only consideration on a seven-game main slate.
As reported by: Chris Kirschner via TwitterAnfernee Simons (ankle) available to play Monday
As expected, Simons has officially been upgraded from probable and be available to play in Monday’s matchup against the Orlando Magic despite dealing with a sprained right ankle. Portland is still without Damian Lillard because of a strained right groin, so head coach Terry Stotts has consistently been playing his starters heavy minutes, which has limited Simons to fewer than 22 minutes in each of the previous four games. Simons doesn’t have a stable enough minute floor to be a realistic tournament option on a seven-game slate, but C.J. McCollum continues to thrive with Lillard off the court, and he has a 36.5% usage rate, a 32.5% assist rate, and is averaging 1.25 DraftKings and 1.18 FanDuel points per minute in a 366.0 minutes sample size.
