A Clearance Sale on DK/FDRAFT

This is a big wow with the DK/FDRAFT price tags on James Harden and Chris Paul. They are both well over $1,000 cheaper on DK than they are on FD and carry reasonable salary-adjusted discounts on FDRAFT as well. I can’t remember the last time we have been able to get the combination of Harden and Paul for $16,500 on DraftKings. I know this isn’t the greatest tempo game, but this seems to be an over-correction in my opinion. Houston still has an implied team total of 111 points, and Harden and Paul both carry high usage in this offense. Get Right Spot

Gary Harris is not only too cheap but he also helps us fill a void at a relatively watered down SG position on Sunday (sans James Harden). The Bucks continue to allow the fewest shots at the rim (27.7%) and the third most shots from long distance (36.4%). This defensive scheme is something to take advantage of, especially with a guy like Harris who has historically taken 40+% of his shot attempts from long range. Harris is having his worst shooting season since his rookie year but this is a get right spot for the wing who has seen his price tag decrease because of his struggles.

Hard-to look-away

Tim Hardaway has had the green light this year from his coaching staff (even though he’s always given himself the personal green light). With that being said he has really been playing well, and taking almost 20 shots a game is the cherry on top. Combine those things with a 33.7% usage rate and you’ll quickly see why he should be in consideration on pretty much every night. Well, today isn’t any different against an Orlando Magic team that has not been playing stellar on the defensive end against the SG position. They rank 25th in DEF and 22nd in DRPM. Take Hardaway Jr.‘s 1.06 ftps per minute and load him up for a big game here in MSG.

It was the best of times, It was the worst of times

What a wild stretch of games we’ve had with Mr. Jokic! We’ve seen the epitome of ups and downs here, and while he may not be happy in Denver anymore this one thing will remain true. If you get him the ball (or don’t get him the ball) he is capable of putting up big numbers. Jokic has held to a usage rate of 24.6% this season without Will Barton, and has turned that into 1.49 fpts per minute. In every game that he’s taken 20 or more shots, he’s put up 60 or more fpts. I’m not saying he takes that many today, but if he gets anywhere close we could have a slate breaking performance on our hands. I expect this game to be competitive and look no further than Mr. Jokic for big results.

Lonzo Ball (ankle) will start Saturday

Ball has officially been upgraded from questionable and will start in Saturday’s matchup against the Sacramento Kings despite dealing with a sprained right ankle. There’s been no word if Ball will be subject to a minute restriction after leaving practice early on Friday, but the Lakers are playing on the front end of a back-to-back set, so it’s not impossible that head coach Luke Walton keeps the workload lighter than normal for his young point guard this evening. Ball has been mainly relying on peripheral statistics for his fantasy production this season, as his usage rate has plummeted to 15.7% with the arrival of LeBron James and the emergence of Brandon Ingram on the offensive end of the floor. However, he is still averaging 0.94 DraftKings and 0.93 FanDuel points per minute, which keeps him in play for tournaments on slates that lack obvious value options.

Jonas Jerebko will start ahead of Jordan Bell on Saturday

The Warriors are without Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, and Shaun Livingston for Saturday’s matchup against the Brooklyn Nets due to their respective injuries. In their absences, Quinn Cook and Jonas Jerebko will enter the starting lineup, which will send Jordan Bel back to the bench to resume a reserve role following a serviceable fantasy performance in 21 minutes in his spot start. There isn’t much of a sample size with both Curry and Green off the court together this season, but in that limited time, both Klay Thompson and Kevin Durant own usage rates north of 41.0% and see a substantial boost in their per minute production. While those rates aren’t sustainable, they will obviously be elite options for all formats on tonight’s slate.

Sixers will start Simmons, Fultz, Shamet, Redick, Embiid on Saturday

Wilson Chandler was listed out in the most recent version of the Sixers injury report and won’t play in Saturday’s matchup against the Memphis Grizzlies due to rest purposes on the second leg of a back-to-back set. The Sixers medical staff will continue to be cautious with Chandler, but this does leave the team shorthanded with just nine active players in the wake of the Jimmy Butler trade that sent Robert Covington and Dario Saric to Minnesota, all of whom won’t be available for Philadelphia this evening. Head coach Brett Brown has opted to replace Covington and Saric in the starting unit with J.J. Redick and Landry Shamet, both figuring to see extended minutes and usage, especially when one of Joel Embiid or Ben Simmons are off the floor, though there admittedly isn’t a significant sample size with all three of Chandler, Covington, and Saric off the court this season. Jonah Bolden should also step into a significant role off the bench as the primary backup power forward with Mike Muscala still sidelined with a facial fracture and laceration.

Goran Dragic (knee) will start Saturday

Dragic has officially been upgraded from questionable and will start in Saturday’s matchup against the Washington Wizards after missing two consecutive games with a sore right knee. Meanwhile, Dwyane Wade remains away from the team due to personal reasons, which should allow Wayne Ellington to remain in the rotation for at least one more game following a couple of hit-or-miss fantasy performances in 30 minutes per game over two spot starts. The availability of Dragic puts a bit of a damper on the viability of Ellington, Winslow, and Tyler Johnson in tournaments, but Johnson remains relatively cheap and has a 22.5% usage rate (+3.4%) while averaging 0.87 DraftKings and 0.90 FanDuel points per minute with Wade off the court this season, though his minute floor is admittedly much lower if Dragic is a full go this evening.

Eric Gordon (groin) will play Saturday; Michael Carter-Williams (illness) available

Gordon has officially been upgraded from questionable and will play in Saturday’s matchup against the San Antonio Spurs after missing one game due to a strained right adductor, while Michael Carter-Williams has been cleared to play despite dealing with an illness. Head coach Mike D’Antoni confirmed that Gordon may be limited, and if that’s the case, a few extra minutes could trickle down to Carter-Williams or Gerald Green on the wing in the second unit. With Carmelo Anthony unavailable because of an illness, Green should still be expected to step into most of Anthony’s minutes off the bench, but he’s averaged just 17 minutes the last three games with Gordon and Carter-Williams sidelined and has essentially already been passed by Gary Clark in the rotation.

Nikola Mirotic (ankle) and Elfrid Payton (ankle) out Saturday

Mirotic has officially been downgraded from questionable and won’t play in Saturday’s matchup against the Phoenix Suns due to a sprained right ankle, while Payton will miss his seventh consecutive game with the same ailment despite being upgraded to a game-time decision following Friday’s practice. With Mirotic sidelined, Julius Randle will see a bump in playing time over his typical role of mid-20s minutes off the bench. Randle has already been confirmed as the starting power forward, and he’ll be a great option for daily fantasy formats, as he owns a 27.9% usage rate and is averaging 1.48 DraftKings and 1.46 FanDuel points per minute with Mirotic and Payton off the court this season. Jrue Holiday could also be worth a speculative tournament play and has experienced a +5.1% usage rate differential (30.1%) in the aforementioned scenario.

Marcin Gortat will start ahead of Boban Marjanovic on Saturday

Gortat will reenter the Clippers starting lineup and will start at center in Saturday’s matchup against the Milwaukee Bucks, which sends Boban Marjanovic back to the bench to resume a reserve role. This will be Gortat’s first game action since November 1st, so it remains unclear if this is just a matchup-based lineup decision or a long-term change. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander remains cheap across the industry, so he should be a relatively popular option given his ability to rack up peripheral statistics despite a low 15.8% usage rate on the offensive end of the floor. Lou Williams has also seen a slight bump in minutes sans Avery Bradley and Luc Mbah a Moute, and he leads the Clippers by a wide margin with a 34.7% usage rate and is averaging 1.27 DraftKings and 1.21 FanDuel points per minute with them off the court this season.

Carved Out Playing Time

Saturday’s blockbuster trade sending Jimmy Butler to the 76ers will leave Philadelphia shorthanded for their game against Memphis Saturday night. Both Dario Saric and Robert Covington are averaging north of 30 minutes per game this season and their absence will open up minutes for the remaining players on the roster. Redick and Fultz stand to benefit the most in terms of playing time with Covington out of the equation as JJ should see minutes in the mid-30’s while Fultz projects closer to 30 minutes. The matchup isn’t great but the combination of minutes and price tag make both of these guys viable cash game options.

Avery Bradley (ankle) and Luc Mbah a Moute (knee) out Saturday

Bradley has officially been downgraded from questionable and won’t play in Saturday’s matchup against the Milwaukee Bucks due to a sprained left ankle that’s now forced him to miss three straight games, while Mbah a Moute remains sidelined for an eighth consecutive contest. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is poised to make another start at the shooting guard spot alongside Patrick Beverley in the backcourt, and he’s been more than serviceable from a fantasy perspective in an average of 29.5 minutes over the last two games. He remains cheap across the industry, so he should be a relatively popular option given his ability to rack up peripheral statistics despite a low 15.8% usage rate on the offensive end of the floor.
