Derrick Williams expected to make his debut for Cleveland tonight
Williams will reportedly be available to play in tonight’s game against the Oklahoma City Thunder after recently signing a 10-day contract with Cleveland. This news normally wouldn’t be pertinent information, but the big three of LeBron James, Kevin Love, and Kyrie Irving are all expected to be rested this evening, though we are still awaiting official confirmation from the team. It would be difficult to imagine Williams playing more than 15 minutes in his debut but his presence is certainly noteworthy considering he will likely siphon some frontcourt minutes away from Channing Frye, Richard Jefferson, and James Jones.

Dwyane Wade (illness), Paul Zipser (ankle tendinitis), and Isaiah Canaan (sprained toe) all considered day-to-day
Wade was unable to participate in practice today but will meet the team at the airport to fly to Phoenix. Wade is simply dealing with an illness and should be able to play on Friday. Paul Zipser is dealing with some ankle tendinitis and Isaiah Canaan is dealing with a sprained toe. Both players are considered day-to-day and Zipser could start again if Wade is out.

Jimmy Butler was able to scrimmage today and is hopeful he will play against the Suns tomorrow night. Most users will likely not use Butler after missing multiple games, but Butler should be considered an elite GPP target against a Suns team that ranks as one of the worst in defensive efficiency. We’ll likely get another update from the Bulls tomorrow with other players also dealing with injuries. Michael Carter-Williams will go back to the bench if Butler starts.

Jordan Clarkson suffered a thumb injury last night against the Pistons and is considered questionable for Friday’s tilt against the Bucks. Lou Williams is also dealing with a mild ankle sprain but is expected to be available off the bench. If Clarkson is out of the lineup, Williams will likely shoulder a heavier scoring burden off the bench. Nick Young and D’Angelo Russell will also benefit with the absence of Clarkson and should see 30+ minutes if Clarkson is out of the lineup. With the Lakers playing in Milwaukee, we should have an update on Clarkson’s status before lineups lock.

Mahinmi played 12 minutes last night against the Nets and will be available off the bench against the Pacers. Mahinmi will likely not play over 15 minutes and is not a viable option with Jason Smith also healthy. Marcin Gortat is the strongest play in the frontcourt with Markieff Morris dealing with a calf injury. Look for another update regarding the Wizards tomorrow after shootaround.

Gallinari continues to remain out with a groin strain while Faried will join him on the sidelines Friday with a sprained ankle. Point guard Emmanual Mudiay also continues to battle a lower back injury and is considered questionable.

Jabari Parker out for season with torn ACL
The Bucks worst fears were confirmed today after tests came back revealing their young star forward had torn his ACL. His recovery time will be nearly a year meaning he will miss the rest of this season as well as the beginning of the next season. It’s a big hit for Milwaukee as Parker had really come into his own this year and was becoming an every day DFS option.

Young hasn’t played since the past weekend due to a wrist sprain and will likely be out for the next two games according to the team. Lavoy Allen and C.J. Miles benefit the most from his absence and both will be worth a look when putting together your DFS lineups.

Acy has missed the last two games (Lin has been out for a longer period of time) and will not play on Friday for Brooklyn. He’s not a big part of the Nets rotation but it should mean a few extra minutes for Rondae Hollis-Jefferson and Justin Hamilton.

The Houston guard missed shootaround this morning due to a sore back and is a game-time decision (questionable) for the team tonight. The Rockets face the Hornets and Sam Dekker would figure to see extended run off the bench if Gordon was unable to go. Dekker has shined at times this season when given the opportunity and would be a viable value option facing a Charlotte team that is 28th in shooting guard DvP.

With Evan Turner sidelined with a broken hand, Harkless is the expected starter for the Trailblazers for their game tonight against the Celtics. At under $4K on both the major DFS sites, he’s a viable value option tonight despite a tough match up against a Celtics team that is 5th in small forward DvP.

Gordon was listed as questionable (day-to-day) with a foot injury he suffered the other night but has been ruled out for the Magic’s game tonight against the 76ers. Jeff Green, who will be back in action after sitting out the teams last game, should get plenty of run at small forward and will be a viable option for this five game slate. Mario Hezonja should also receive an uptick in playing time off the bench but there are better value options out there (especially on Cleveland).

Hornets Head Coach Frank Clifford stated that Zeller would start and play tonight for the team unless a setback took place between now and tip-off. He’s missed the last seven games and could be limited in terms of minutes. Frank Kaminsky loses a bit of value with Zeller back but could still be a viable option off of the bench given the potential limit on Zeller.

This was expected as both players did not travel with the team for their game against Orlando tonight. Nerlens Noel and Jahlil Okafor will continue to split time at the five. The Magic are bottom 10 in center DvP but neither player has topped 25 minutes the past five games despite Embiid not playing so their upside is capped.

Same news as it has been for well over a week now as Williams is again listed as doubtful while Bogut remains out. It’s highly unlikely Williams plays tonight against Utah and is probably out until after the All-Star break. Yogi Ferrell will again get the nod as the starting point guard but he’s a pretty easy fade facing the defensive-minded Jazz.
