IND QB Carson Wentz officially cleared to play Sunday
Carson Wentz has officially been cleared to play Sunday against the Las Vegas Raiders. Wentz was taken off the COVID list yesterday but needed to pass a symptom check today which he did, meaning he is cleared to play. Wentz will start at quarterback for the Colts which will benefit all Indianapolis pass-catchers.
As reported by: Stacey DalesARI RB James Conner expected to play Sunday
James Conner is expected to play Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys. Conner is expected to split time with Chase Edmonds in the Arizona backfield with Conner expected to see much of the early down and goal line work and Edmonds handling the bulk of the passing down work. Each back will limit the upside of the other so it is probably best to look elsewhere in DFS contests.
As reported by: Around the NFLTBB WR Antonio Brown expected to play Sunday, WR Mike Evans expected to play in a limited capacity
Antonio Brown expected to play Sunday, while Mike Evans is expected to play in a limited capacity when the Tampa Bay Buccaneers take on the New York Jets. With Brown likely to play, he becomes one of the better plays on the slate due to expected volume in a tremendous matchup. Evans is also expected to suit up but will play only in a limited capacity as he works his way back from a hamstring injury as well as spending time on the COVID list. Evans can reach value on a limited number of snaps, but it will limit his upside and it is likely best to look elsewhere in DFS contests. With Evans limited, Brown could see even more targets than he was already expected to see, as well as Rob Gronkowski and Breshad Perriman potentially playing bigger roles in the passing game.
As reported by: Adam Schefter Other tagged players: Mike EvansLAR RB Cam Akers will not play Sunday
Cam Akers will not play Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens. This seemed to be how things were trending, as later in the week HC Sean McVay backed up on his statement the Akers would make his season debut this weekend. With Akers out, Sony Michel will once again lead the Rams backfield and can be considered as one of the better plays on the slate. Jake Funk and Buddy Howell will be available to back him up, though they are not expected to see a large number of snaps.
As reported by: Adam SchefterMIN TE Tyler Conklin expected to play Sunday
Tyler Conklin is expected to play Sunday night against the Green Bay Packers. Conklin seems to be trending in the right direction to be able to suit up and should be in line to see a good amount of targets with Adam Thielen out for the rest of the year. Conklin can be considered on the showdown slate and has the potential to catch a touchdown or two.
As reported by: Adam SchefterSFO QB Jimmy Garoppolo not expected to play Sunday; RB Elijah Mitchell expected to play
Jimmy Garoppolo is not expected to play Sunday against the Houston Texans, while Elijah Mitchell is expected to suit up. With Garoppolo likely out, Trey Lance should draw the start and would need to be considered in DFS contests due to the safe floor he provides with his rushing ability. Elijah Mitchell seems to be trending towards a return which would move Jeff Wilson back to a more complimentary role. The return of Mitchell combined with Lance at quarterback could also potentially hurt Deebo Samuel. Samuel could lose some of his rushing opportunities to Lance and Mitchell and would see his expected production as a pass-catcher decrease as well. It will be important to ensure the status of both Garoppolo and Mitchell when inactives are released today, 90 minutes prior to kickoff.
As reported by: Adam Schefter Other tagged players: Elijah MitchellPHI RB Jordan Howard expected to play Sunday
Jordan Howard is expected to play Sunday against the Washington Football Team. Howard seems to be set to lead the Eagles backfield this Sunday with Miles Sanders ruled out Friday. Howard should see the bulk of the early down and goal line work with Boston Scott and Kenneth Gainwelll also available to mix in. Howard can be considered in most formats but it is worth noting that the Eagles tend to go with a hot hand approach in the backfield and Howard by no means has a solidified role. It will be important to ensure Howard’s availability today by checking inactives when they are released 90 minutes prior to kickoff.
As reported by: Ian RapoportNOS RB Mark Ingram "unlikely" to play today
Mark Ingram is considered “unlikely” to play today against the Carolina Panthers according to Ian Rapoport. Ingram is not trending in the right direction to suit up today, meaning Tony Jones Jr. should backup Alvin Kamara with Dwayne Washington also available in the New Orleans backfield. Alvin Kamara will likely see a few more carries and will become a slightly better play while both Jones Jr. and Washington are not expected to see enough work to be considered in DFS contests.
As reported by: Ian RapoportDEN RB Javonte Williams and RB Melvin Gordon both expected to play Sunday
Javonte Williams and Melvin Gordon are both expected to play Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers. Both Williams and Gordon have been banged up the past few weeks leading to limited practices but there has never been any real concern about either not suiting up for today’s contest. Both Williams and Gordon should be busy today as the Broncos have suffered losses to their receiving corps and draw an amazing matchup against a poor Chargers run defense. Williams and Gordon can be considered in DFS contests though their split in the backfield will limit the upside of each back.
As reported by: Ian Rapoport Other tagged players: Melvin GordonBAL QB Tyler Huntley expected to start Sunday; QB Lamar Jackson not expected to play
Tyler Huntley is now expected to start Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Rams with Lamar Jackson likely unavailable. Jackson tested his ankle out at practice earlier this week but it seems like a longshot for him to be able to suit up today. With Huntley at quarterback pass-catchers should see a slight increase in expected volume due to Huntley not rushing as much as Jackson (though he will still run). Huntley can be considered in most formats after performing well on multiple occasions filling in for Jackson, though this is a tough matchup against the Los Angeles defense.
As reported by: Ian Rapoport Other tagged players: Lamar JacksonNOS TE Nick Vannett placed on COVID list; WR Kawaan Baker elevated from practice squad
Nick Vannett has been placed on the COVID list, while Kawaan Baker has been elevated from the practice squad ahead of Sunday’s matchup against the Carolina Panthers. With Vannett out, Adam Trautman and Juwan Johnson should split reps at tight end. Trautman is likely to be the better play but it remains to be seen how many snaps he sees in his first game back. Baker is expected to serve as receiver depth and should not be considered in DFS contests at this point.
As reported by: Nick Underhill Other tagged players: Kawaan BakerNEP WR Kristian Wilkerson elevated from practice squad
Kristian Wilkerson has been elevated from the practice squad ahead of Sunday’s matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Wilkerson is expected to serve as receiver depth but should not see enough work to be considered in DFS contests at this point.
As reported by: New England PatriotsLVR WR Tyron Johnson elevated from practice squad
Tyron Johnson has been elevated from the practice squad ahead of Sunday’s matchup against the Indianapolis Colts. Johnson is expected to serve as receiver depth and should not be considered in DFS contests at this time.
As reported by: Paul GutierrezSFO TE Tanner Hudson elevated from practice squad; RB Brian Hill waived
Tanner Hudson has been elevated from the practice squad, while Brian Hill was waived ahead of Sunday’s game against the Houston Texans. Hudson is expected to serve as tight end depth and should not be considered DFS relevant at this time. With Elijah Mitchell expected to make his return this week and Trey Sermon nearing a return as well, Brian Hill was no longer needed on the roster. Hill didn’t play much of a role for the 49ers and his absence is not expected to be DFS relevant.
As reported by: Matt Maiocco Other tagged players: Brian HillDEN RB Damarea Crockett, WR Travis Fulgham, WR Seth Williams, WR Rico Gafford elevated from practice squad
Damarea Crockett, Travis Fulgham, Seth Williams, and Rico Gafford have all been elevated from the practice squad ahead of Sunday’s matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers. Crockett is expected to serve as running back depth and could also potentially play on special teams this weekend. Fulgham, Williams, and Gafford are all expected to serve as receiver depth pieces behind Courtland Sutton, Kendall Hinton, and Diontae Spencer. None of the practice squad elevations for Denver are expected to play a large enough role to be considered in DFS contests.
