Adam Thielen

Pittsburgh Steelers
12/29/21, 12:46 PM ET

MIN WR Adam Thielen out for season after ankle surgery

Adam Thielen will be out for the rest of the season after ankle surgery. With Thielen out this week against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday Night, Justin Jefferson will lead the receiving corps by a significant margin with K.J. Osborn and Tyler Conklin likely to be featured more in the passing game. Jefferson can be considered as one of the top plays on the showdown slate with Osborn and Conklin both worthy of consideration as well.

D'Andre Swift

DET RB D'Andre Swift expected to play Sunday

D’Andre Swift expected to play Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks according to HC Dan Campbell. Swift has been deemed good to go by the HC but we haven’t gotten any kind of information on a snap limitation or what kind of split to expect. Swift was already in a time share with Jamaal Williams and this was before Craig Reynolds entered the equation. Reynolds split snaps with Williams evenly last week so it could be a three-headed backfield this weekend as it’s tough to imagine Dan Campbell putting his best offensive player at risk in meaningless games. Hopefully we get some more clarity throughout the week on what kind of workload to expect from Swift.

Drew Lock

Seattle Seahawks

DEN QB Drew Lock expected to start Sunday, QB Teddy Bridgewater still dealing with concussion

Drew Lock is expected to start Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers with Teddy Bridgewater still dealing with a concussion. Lock started last week against the Las Vegas Raiders and had a rough go of things, throwing for 153 yards and adding another 10 yards on the ground on two rush attempts. Lock will hope to have a better showing this weekend against a defense that was just torched by Davis Mills and the Houston Texans offense. Lock can be considered as a value option with potential upside but is extremely difficult to trust.

Dalvin Cook

Dallas Cowboys
12/29/21, 12:08 PM ET

MIN RB Dalvin Cook activated from COVID list

Dalvin Cook has been activated from the COVID list ahead of Sunday night’s game against the Green Bay Packers. Cook is another unvaccinated player benefitting from the NFL’s new COVID policies. Cook will be able to log a full week of practices ahead of this weekend’s game, which under the old policy he would not have been able to do. This should help with some of the conditioning issues we have seen other players deal with after their return from COVID. Cook should be in line to see his normal workload this Sunday against a Packers team he had success against earlier in the year (115 total yards with a touchdown). Cook can be considered in most formats on the showdown slate, and should be one of the top scoring plays.

12/29/21, 11:40 AM ET

NYJ TE Kenny Yeboah activated from COVID list

Kenny Yeboah has been activated from the COVID list ahead of the Jets matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Yeboah will serve as the Jets top tight end as long as Tyler Kroft remains on the COVID list. With the new NFL protocols this is far from a sure thing. Either way, it remains difficult to reliably play members of the Jets offense in DFS contests, especially against a tough defensive unit like the Buccaneers.

Cole Beasley

New York Giants
12/29/21, 11:36 AM ET

BUF WR Cole Beasley and WR Gabriel Davis activated from COVID list

Cole Beasley and Gabriel Davis have been activated from the COVID list ahead of the Bills matchup with the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday. Under the NFL’s new COVID policy unvaccinated players like Beasley and Davis can return after 5 days if they are asymptomatic. Both Beasley and Davis have met this requirement and will be able to get a full week of practice in before this weekend’s game. Beasley and Davis should slot in behind Stefon Diggs and Emmanuel Sanders with Beasley seeing most of his snaps in the slot. Beasley can be considered as a cheap high floor option but Davis has lost most of his appeal with Sanders back.

LAC WR Andre Roberts activated from COVID list

Andre Roberts has been activated from the COVID list ahead of Sunday’s game against the Denver Broncos. Roberts should return to his role on special tams and serve as receiver depth. He is not expected to be DFS relevant at this time.

Brock Wright

Detroit Lions
12/28/21, 5:40 PM ET

DET TE Brock Wright placed on COVID list; TE Jared Pinkney signed off Rams practice squad to active roster

Brock Wright has been placed on COVID list, while Jared Pinkney has been signed off the Rams practice squad ahead of the Lions matchup against the Seattle Seahawks. With Wright placed on the COVID list the Lions had no tight ends on the active roster, to remedy this they signed Pinkney who will likely split snaps with Nick Eubanks (on practice squad) this weekend. It is unclear how the snaps will breakdown this weekend, so both tight ends can be viewed as risky punt options.

Marcedes Lewis

Denver Broncos
12/28/21, 5:34 PM ET

GBP TE Marcedes Lewis placed on COVID list

Marcedes Lewis has been placed on the COVID list ahead of Green Bay’s Sunday night matchup with the Minnesota Vikings. If Lewis were unable to be activated prior to the game Josiah Deguara would remain the top tight end with Dominique Dafney and Tyler Davis available to back him up. Deguara could see a few more targets and could be considered as a value option on the showdown slate. Dafney could play more in two tight ends sets and would have touchdown upside as a punt play.

Preston Williams

Carolina Panthers
12/28/21, 5:25 PM ET

MIA WR Preston Williams placed on COVID list

Preston Williams has been placed on the COVID list ahead of the Dolphins matchup with the Tennessee Titans. Williams was expected to serve as receiver depth so his potential absence is not expected to be DFS relevant.

Jacob Hollister

Carolina Panthers
12/28/21, 4:33 PM ET

JAC TE Jacob Hollister placed on COVID list; TE Kahale Warring signed to active roster

Jacob Hollister has been placed on the COVID list, while Kahale Warring has been signed to the active roster ahead of Jacksonville’s matchup with the New England Patriots. Hollister was expected to backup James O’Shaughnessy but that role will now be filled by Warring. Warring is not expected to be DFS relevant at this time.

Will Dissly

Los Angeles Chargers
12/28/21, 2:37 PM ET

SEA TE Will Dissly activated from the COVID list

Will Dissly has been activated from the COVID list ahead of the Seahawks matchup against the Detroit Lions. Dissly should instantly slot in as the backup tight end behind Gerald Everett and should see some work in two tight end sets. Dissly does not project to see enough snaps to be considered in DFS contests as anything other than a punt play with touchdown upside.

Carson Wentz

Minnesota Vikings
12/28/21, 1:47 PM ET

IND QB Carson Wentz placed on COVID list

Carson Wentz has been placed on the COVID list ahead of the Colts matchup with the Las Vegas Raiders this Sunday. Due to Wentz’s believed vaccination status, if he tested positive he will have no chance of playing Sunday in a crucial matchup with playoff ramifications. In his absence, Sam Ehlinger will likely draw the start at quarterback though Brett Hundley could also be considered as he is a member of the practice squad. All Indianapolis pass-catchers should take a hit to their expected production, and it is likely that the Colts try to ride Jonathan Taylor as much as they can.

Salvon Ahmed

Indianapolis Colts
12/27/21, 6:48 PM ET

Salvon Ahmed inactive for MNF

Salvon Ahmed is inactive for Monday night’s meeting with the Saints, which will leave the backfield primarily to Duke Johnson and Myles Gaskin with Phillip Lindsay also potentially working into the equation. Jordan Scarlett is another active Dolphins HB, but he figures to be more utilized as a special teamer.

Kawaan Baker

Green Bay Packers
12/27/21, 6:36 PM ET

Saints have activated WR Kawaan Baker, WR Easop Winston and TE Ethan Wolf for MNF

The Saints have added two WRs and a TE to the roster ahead of Monday’s game with the Dolphins. None of them should make any notable fantasy impact, but any offensive player is an option in single-game slates. Wolf likely has the highest upside of finding the end-zone, and Baker/Winston would only figure to play if one or more of Smith, Callaway, Stills or Humphrey are forced to miss snaps. Ian Book’s presence under center does make things a lot more unpredictable.
