Tre'Quan Smith (ankle) officially ruled out for Friday
Smith didn’t practice this week and is heading to injured reserve, which means he’s officially been ruled out of Friday’s Week 16 matchup against the Minnesota Vikings and at least the following two games due to an ankle injury. In a corresponding move, the Saints activated Marquez Callaway from injured reserved, and given the current state of the receiving corps, he’ll likely step into a substantial role on offense and may even be the number two option behind Emmanuel Sanders on the outside. At minimum salary across the industry, Callaway will certainly be in consideration for tournament formats, at the very least, on tomorrow’s single-game daily fantasy slates.
As reported by: Larry Holder via TwitterHunter Henry placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list Thursday
Henry missed two practices this week with an illness, so he’s presumptively tested positive for COVID-19 and won’t play in Sunday’s Week 16 matchup against the Denver Broncos after being placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list this afternoon. A positive test this late in the week would also leave Henry doubtful, at best, for the Chargers season finale, and will leave former XFL standout, Donald Parham, as the top pass-catching tight end for quarterback Justin Herbert for the final two games. The level of Parham’s viability in daily fantasy formats will largely rely on the status of Keenan Allen, who is slated to be a game-time decision because of a hamstring injury, but even if Allen is active, Parham can be used as a punt option in tournament formats across the industry this weekend.
As reported by: Gilbert Manzano via TwitterTerry McLaurin (ankle) still not practicing Thursday
McLaurin was held out of practice for a second consecutive day, which has become a norm for him in recent weeks, so as long as he is able to put in at least a limited session on Friday or Saturday, he should be able to play in Sunday’s Week 16 matchup against the Carolina Panthers despite continuing to battle an ankle injury. With Dwayne Haskins expected to receive another start under center, McLaurin’s could potentially be boosted by an increase in target share since he’s averaged just over 9.5 targets per game when Haskins is at quarterback this season, a drastic increase from his counterparts in Alex Smith and Kylen Allen.
As reported by: John Keim via TwitterJames Conner (quad) ruled out Monday night; Benny Snell likely to start
Conner was limited in practice for three consecutive days, but despite optimism on his potential availability, he’s officially been ruled out of Monday night’s Week 15 matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals due to a quad injury. This will leave Benny Snell and Jaylen Samuels as the Steelers’ top two running backs, and while Snell is reportedly likely to start, it still remains unclear just how much of a timeshare this backfield might be with Samuels out snapping Conner straight up in last weeks contest. However, given their price tags on the single-game slates across the industry, both Snell and Samuels are firmly in consideration for all formats.

Evan Engram and Kaden Smith are both active, while Daniel Jones is inactive as expected. Colt McCoy will get his second start of the season. The Giants did manage to upset the Seahawks in McCoy’s first start, but they’re heavy underdogs against the Browns tonight.

Chase Edmonds is officially active Sunday, although there is still the risk that he is limited. Given that the Cardinals also have Kenyan Drake, they might not feel the need to give Edmonds too much work.

Jamison Crowder is officially active Sunday for the Jets, although it is hard to be excited about any of the Jets’ players, as they’re by far the worst offense playing this afternoon.

Alexander Mattison is active today and will work as the backup to Dalvin Cook. There is little work for Mattison outside of a Cook injury.

James White is active today and could see some additional work with Damien Harris ruled out. Sony Michel should get the most carries of the RBs, while J.J. Taylor will work as the third RB.

Salvon Ahmed is officially active, a big hit to the value of DeAndre Washington, and creating a crowded Miami backfield. Ahmed should get the most work, then DeAndre Washington, but Matt Breida is also returning. Mike Gesicki, DeVante Parker and Jakeem Grant are all out, so it is fair to be concerned that the Dolphins’ offense struggles.

Mark Ingram is inactive today, a healthy scratch one week after playing just one snap. J.K. Dobbins is in a good position to get the most work, with Gus Edwards also being involved in the offense. Justice Hill is unlikely to get much work as the third RB.
