This ageless sniper continues to dominate
Alex Ovechkin simply doesn’t age. His goal-scoring talent remains as elite as it always has been. His office on the power play still cannot be stopped. Ovechkin still has a four-goal lead on the Rocket Richard race, but Leon Draisaitl has been closing the gap as of late. Tonight the Washington Capitals visit the Philadelphia Flyers, a team that has been a horrific possession team over the last month. Philly has the third-worst 46.45 CF% over the last month and a league-worst 65.12 CA/60. Ovechkin is playing alongside Evgeny Kuznetsov and Tom Wilson, a line that makes for a great even strength stack. Additionally, Ovechkin and Kuznetsov make for a solid mini-stack as the two are on the top power play unit together as well.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are fresh off a blowout win against the Calgary Flames as they continue their Western Canada road trip. In Vancouver to take on the Canucks, the Leafs have plenty of upside. John Tavares, Mitch Marner and Zach Hyman have been a fantastic line this season and this is a great matchup. Over the last month, the Maple Leafs have a 63.43 CF/60 while the Canucks have allowed a 60.28 CA/60. Tavares and Marner make for a great mini-stack as the duo play on the top power play unit together. However, Hyman certainly tags along at even strength and can chip in from time to time so the full-line stack is in play.

Travis Sanheim is close to matching his point total (4G, 11A in 50 games) from before the All-Star break as the 22 year old has collected 12 points (4G, 8A) in just 15 games since the break while averaging three minutes more of ice time than he did before the break. A closer look revfeals Sanheim has four goals after his last four games as the Philadelphia Flyers continue their fight for a playoff spot. Sanheim is $4,200 on DraftKings and $4,400 on FanDuel which gives him appeal in all formats as even on a four game slate, there are a handful of forwards worth targeting (Alex Ovechkin, Vladimir Tarasenko, Auston Matthews, and so on). Look for Sanheim to stay hot in this sneaky matchup.
Top liner targeting return in Anaheim
Brayden Schenn should be back for St. Louis tonight. The Blues were riding an 11 game win streak, and in their first game without him, the Dallas Stars smoked them 5-2. With Schenn back tonight, joining the Blues’ potent top line, he is a nice mid-range option across the industry. Schenn figures to reclaim his spot on the team’s top power play unit, and though John Gibson can stifle a team here and there, the Ducks are a poor hockey team. Furthermore, they played last night and lack the bodies to keep up with a physical St. Louis team. Schenn, O’Reilly and Tarasenko make for one of the best stacks of the night.
Blue liner should start soaking up minutes again soon
It’s just Edler’s third game back after missing nearly a month, but given the Canucks’ lack of depth on the blue line, Edler should start seeing 25-plus minutes again. Even if he doesn’t see that tonight, he can contribute in a variety of ways. Edler is not shy about blocking shots, and he should have his fair share in this up-tempo affair with the Toronto Maple Leafs. Additionally, Edler is the quarterback on Vancouver’s top power play. Alex checks in at just $4,000 on FanDuel which is far too cheap. He is a great play in all formats. On DraftKings ($5,200), Edler is priced more appropriately and will see little ownership there consequently.
This center might be the most underrated player in the NHL
Is Aleksander Barkov the most underrated player in the NHL? He probably used to be, but I don’t think so anymore. When EVERYBODY says you’re underrated, you probably aren’t underrated anymore. Anyway, Barkov is centering the top line with Jonathan Huberdeau and Evgenii Dadonov as the Florida Panthers visit the Pittsburgh Penguins this evening. The line is a great full stack as the trio remain in-tact on the top power play unit for the Florida Panthers. The Penguins have struggled a bit as of a late with a 60.57 CA/60 which is the 9th-most in the NHL over the last month and their CF% of 47.99 ranks 25th over the same time frame.

Cam Atkinson has 35 goals this season which puts him just inside the top-10. He has been a very underrated goal-scorer over the last few years and playing alongside talent like Artemi Panarin has certainly helped him take another leap. They’ll be centered by Matt Duchene tonight. This line also plays on the top power play unit together which gives them elite upside and full-game correlation. The matchup against the New Jersey Devils would be a great one in general, but if you go take a look at the Devils lineup for tonight with all of their injuries, this is a premium matchup for a Columbus team looking to crawl back into the playoffs.

Brayden Point has increased his goal, assist and point total in three consecutive seasons and is going to get a huge raise this summer. He’s benefited greatly from playing alongside Nikita Kucherov, but in the same breath, Kucherov has benefited from playing with Point. The two have been dominant together. Tyler Johnson rounds out their line for this evening as the Tampa Bay Lightning host the Winnipeg Jets. Everybody knows how great Tampa has been, but over the last month the Jets have struggled from a possession standpoint. He has a 48.15 CF% which ranges 24th and a 64.23 CA/60 which is the third-worst in the NHL over the same time frame.
Other tagged players: Nikita Kucherov, Tyler JohnsonThis defenseman has not done much this season, but matchup prevails
Nick Leddy is a frustrating player. One would think he could produce at levels like he has in the past, but it has not come to fruition this season despite the Islanders’ surprising performance overall. Leddy has been on the team’s top power play unit for nearly the entire season yet has collected just 20 points in 65 games, well off his three-straight 40 point seasons. However, at just $3,100 on DraftKings, he is hard to overlook in a matchup against a Senators’ squad allowing 4.39 goals per game on the road. Leddy is worth a shot in tournaments to load up elsewhere.
Defenseman is a nice value despite tough matchup
Even on this big slate, not many of the top defensemen stand out as must-haves as all the priority spends are at forward. Jacob Trouba is a nice option from the blue line without sacrificing too much. With Josh Morrissey and Dustin Byfuglien on the shelf, Trouba sees all the ice time at even-strength and the team’s top power play unit. Checking in at under $5,000 on both DraftKings and FanDuel, Trouba could easily pay off his salary with a couple shots and blocks. The power play is just a bonus. Jacob has logged 26 and 27-plus minutes in two games this month, and while the multi-point games have not been there, we know he has the upside to do it as evidenced by his three-assist affair in Vegas two weeks ago. He is viable in all formats as a nice mid-range defenseman.
Ex-Panther looks for big outing against former team
Jared McCann was moved up to the Pittsburgh top line next to Sidney Crosby and Jake Guentzel last time out, and the former Florida Panther did not disappoint as he picked up a goal and an assist on two shots on goal. In two games prior to that, McCann picked up a pair of goals in Columbus. Long buried in Florida’s bottom-six, now is the time for McCann to shine. A matchup with his old team will surely get the juices flowing again too. McCann is $4,000 on DraftKings and $4,300 on FanDuel which makes the Penguins’ potent top line quite affordable against a Florida team that has given up goals for fun on the road.
This winger has been phenomenal this season on his new team
While many will point to his linemates and more specifically Johnny Gaudreau for the emergence and breakout of Elias Lindholm, he has certainly pulled his weight. Since January 1st, he is right up there with Gaudreau as the pair are tied for the team lead in points over the last two months with 28 points in 25 games. Additionally, he leads the team with 11 power play points over that same stretch. The two are centered by Sean Monahan to make up the Calgary Flames top line. The three also make up 60 percent of the Flames top power play unit which gives them elite upside and full-game correlation despite taking on Frederik Andersen who has been incredible this season.
Other tagged players: Johnny Gaudreau, Sean MonahanArguably the chalkiest player, but the matchup is too good to ignore
Jack Eichel will be one of the chalkiest players of the night, but when you have a two-game slate in front of you it will be relatively difficult to differentiate yourself too much. His ownership will be high but rightfully so as the Buffalo Sabres host the lowly Edmonton Oilers. Eichel is centering Jeff Skinner and Sam Reinhart on the top line and with the entire trio playing on the top power play unit together, the upside is elite. They will have full-game correlation and against an Oilers penalty kill has been abysmal killing off just 68.9 percent of their penalties since February 1st, the Sabres PP could be a home run play tonight.
Other tagged players: Jeff Skinner, Sam ReinhartA tough matchup, but this center is a great play on a short slate
Auston Matthews, Andreas Johnsson and Kasperi Kapanen always looks like a threat when they are on the ice together, even if they aren’t putting the puck on the net. This is encouraging, despite the difficult matchup tonight. They are taking on the Calgary Flames, in Calgary, with Dave Rittich in net. Matthews and Johnsson would make for an interesting mini-stack as they are on the same power play unit together with Johnsson taking Nazem Kadri’s place. The Leafs PP has been better as of late with a 22.9 percent conversion rate since February 1st.
Other tagged players: Andreas Johnsson, Kasperi KapanenLow-owned Leaf could be a difference maker in tournaments
Even on this small slate, someone like Nylander could fly under the radar as his linemates Patrick Marleau and Connor Brown are nothing to get excited about. Nylander is just $3,300 on DraftKings despite owning the third-best iSCF/60 at 5-on-5 on the team behind Auston Matthews and Mitchell Marner. With Calgary’s top-six and Toronto’s top-six likely going toe-to-toe for most of this hockey game, Nylander could get some advantageous matchups against Calgary’s bottom-six. Additionally, Nylander sees power play time which further gives him value. The price is simply too cheap for Nylander’s skill set.
