Fanball NFL Auction Breakdown: Week 7 - Wednesday, October 17th

Hey everyone, welcome to the Fanball NFL Auction breakdown. If you haven’t played on this site before, it’s a product unlike anything you’ve ever seen before in DFS. They will be offering an Auction-style format drafting with four players on the board at all times, meaning you have to be on your toes and be aware of what is going on, because split-second mistakes can be costly.

Each team must draft 1 QB, 2 WR, 2 RB, and 1 TE. No player can be left on the board at the end of the draft, so if you are the last player not to draft a TE, then when the last TE goes on the board you will autodraft them for $1.

RG Exclusive Offer: Deposit $20 on Fanball and get a $20 bonus!

There are four players up for auction at all times, so you need to be able to adlib on the fly if someone goes drastically over or under what you are projecting to pay for them. You can find the full scoring system for Fanball NFL here.

Wednesday, October 17th

Quarterback

Jared Goff – $9
Tom Brady – $9
Drew Brees – $6
Mitchell Trubisky – $3
Dak Prescott – $1
Deshaun Watson – $1

Goff, Brady, Brees – This tier is clearly a huge upgrade from the lower tier. We often view QB as a mostly fungible position, but this year it has not been the case. There is a drastic difference between these two sets of QBs, as the first three are heads and tails above the other three with better matchups. Pay up for one of these three QBs, but the best strategy is to just wait to see which one you can get at below market value, because there’s a pretty decent chance you snag one of these guys late in the draft for around $4.

Trubisky, Prescott, Watson – To me, Trubisky is a tier above these guys, but not someone that you should go out of your way to get. Prescott and Watson are clearly well below the top three guys and Trubisky to me, but not enough where you need to pay top dollar for them. Try to make sure you don’t get stuck with Prescott or Watson, but with their running ability it’s not an auto-lose if you do.

Running Back

Todd Gurley – $32
Ezekiel Elliott – $25
Joe Mixon – $23
Alvin Kamara – $22
Mark Ingram – $12
Sony Michel – $10
T.J. Yeldon – $10
Adrian Peterson – $5
Alex Collins – $5
Peyton Barber – $3
Duke Johnson – $1
Kerryon Johnson – $1

Gurley, Elliott, Mixon Kamara – To me, these top four RBs aren’t even close to the rest of the guys. All these running backs have an extra eight points projected than the rest of the bunch here. To me, this is where you spend up at, giving the highest priority to Gurley, who should end up with six more points than the rest of these guys in this tier.

Ingram, Michel, Yeldon – This is the next clear tier where you have three guys who are not only safer, but have much higher ceilings from the rest of the guys here. If you can’t get two of the top tier guys in your lineup, you should be putting one of these guys down as your RB2.

Peterson, Collins, Barber, D Johnson, K Johnson – These guys are clearly a very big downgrade from every other running back and should be avoided if at all possible. Know that people will likely be thinking the same thing, so it’s a smart idea to try and snag an RB early so you don’t get stuck with one of these guys later on in the draft.

Wide Receiver

Tyreek Hill – $22
Michael Thomas – $20
Stefon Diggs – $18
Robert Woods – $16
Alshon Jeffery – $12
Tyler Boyd – $12
John Brown – $6
Josh Gordon – $6
Kenny Golladay – $6
Marquise Goodwin – $6
Taylor Gabriel – $2
Chester Rogers – $1

Hill, Thomas, Diggs, Woods – To me these guys are all big upgrades of the rest of the guys, but it’s not nearly as substantial as the RB tier is, as even the last two guys in this pool can end up with a decent day on this full PPR site. Prioritize these guys in your draft, but don’t do it at the expense of RB.

Jeffery, Boyd – These two guys are a good three points above the next tier of guys, but a good 3-5 points behind the tier above them. I might be projecting these guys a little high, but if you can snag them at a single digit price tag, then jump on it.

Brown, Gordon, Golladay, Goodwin – This is where you want to get your WR2 at. You can likely get one of these guys at a much lower price tag than the rest of the guys above and all offer huge upside (and likely a very low floor). Any one of these guys can either make or break your lineup.

Gabriel, Rogers – I don’t mind either of these guys in salary cap DFS, but in this format, you should try to make sure you don’t get stuck with one of these. If for some reason these two get scooped up when they first go on the board, the smart move is to just completely punt your WR2 (and maybe WR1 if you can get two solid RBs), but if you still don’t have your WR2 near the end of the draft, the smart move is to pay a premium for one of the above WRs.

Tight End

Travis Kelce – $22
Rob Gronkowski – $20
George Kittle – $7
Trey Burton – $5
C.J. Uzomah – $3
O.J. Howard – $1

Kelce and Gronk – Although Gronk hasn’t been great this year, he does have the upside to help you take down a six-person draft like this easily. Both these TEs are way above the rest of the group here and in all likelihood if they end up coming up later on in the draft you may end up getting one of them at a huge discount. Be on the lookout for what other TEs go off the board early on, because one of these two could offer you the highest value on the board.

Kittle, Burton, Uzomah, Howard – To me, each of these TEs offer some upside, but I have no desire to get stuck with either Uzomah or Howard. With people not having a huge amount of interest in Kittle or Burton, you may be able to get one of these guys at a pretty decent discount early on the draft, so don’t get your heart set on getting Gronk or Kelce if you can get Burton or Kittle at a discount.

Remember guys, keep an eye out for what’s happening in your draft and if guys are going for way less than they are projected for here, you should know that some of these prices may be too low. Likewise, if guys are going for higher than the above price early on you can get a lot of these guys at a huge discount.
