Pitcher Grind Down
- Justin Verlander – Verlander’s recent struggles are well documented, as he’s posted a 9.16 ERA so far during the month of June and has given up 7 earned runs in each of the last two games. We know what kind of upside he’s capable of, so he’s still a viable option for GPP use, but he won’t sniff my cash game lineups until (If) he rights the ship. *Rating = 4
Salaries: $7100 FD, $13355 DS, $12850 DD, $7600 DK, $63800 FF, $17000 SS, $12850 FTD
- Trever Bauer – Bauer got back in the win column in his last start, tossing 6.2 strong innings against the Angels. He’ll be glad to be back in Cleveland as he own 2.92 ERA in his four home starts this season (versus 6.19 road ERA). He pitched admirably against Detroit earlier this season and with 9.27 K’s/9 this season, he comes with a nice upside. Rating = 5
Salaries: $5400 FD, $10863 DS, $13300 DD, $6500 DK, $81600 FF, $18600 SS, $13300 FTD

Detroit
Miguel Cabrera – Righties own a .343 wOBA against Bauer this season and Miggy sports a .418 wOBA against right-handed pitching. He’s hitting .328 on the road this season and can quickly punish Bauer if the young pitcher tries to challenge him.
Additional Plays: J.D. Martinez, Victor Martinez, Ian Kinsler
Cleveland
Carlos Santana – Righties have a .401 wOBA against Verlander this season and Santana already owns three career homeruns off of him. He went deep last night and now has three homeruns in his last seven games. He has finally broken out of his slump and has now posted a 1.083 OPS in June.
Additional Plays: Jason Kipnis, Lonnie Chisenhall

Pitcher Grind Down
- Julio Teheran – Teheran has been a bright spot for the Braves this season, and if you throw out the one forgetable start at Coors Field his stat line looks like this: 6-3 record, 1.82 ERA, .89 WHIP and 7.21 K’s/9. The 23 year old has already squared off against this Nationals team twice this season, and pitched very well in both games. This game has the makings of a pitchers duel and I expect another strong performance from Teheran. Rating = 7
Salaries: $8700 FD, $18896 DS, $18900 DD, $10000 DK, $105400 FF, $27900 SS, $18300 FTD
- Doug Fister – Fister continues to fly under the radar a bit, but he’s been fantastic for the Nationals lately. Over his last seven starts he owns a 5-1 record with a 2.39 ERA and 1.00 WHIP. Atlanta owns just a .293 wOBA against right-handed pitching this season and also rank near the top of MLB in strikeouts. Fister has won all three of his home starts this season and is a great option in both cash games and GPP’s. Rating = 7.5
Salaries: $7700 FD, $15777 DS, $15500 DD, $9000 DK, $89400 FF, $23600 SS, $15500 FTD
Batter Grind Down
I’m expecting this to be another pitchers duel and I will not be targeting any hitters from this game.

Pitcher Grind Down
- Nick Martinez – Martinez bounced back from back-to-back disaster outings by allowing just two runs in six innings in Seattle earlier this week. He’s lost three straight decisions and will take on an Angels team that seems to be heating up. His 4.44 ERA indicates that he’s mediocre, but his 1.71 WHIP, 5.52 xFIP and 4.27 K’s/9 suggest that he should be avoided. Rating = 3
Salaries: $5000 FD, $7558 DS, $8950 DD, $4800 DK, $46000 FF, $13000 SS, $8950 FTD
- Jered Weaver – Since the beginning of last season, Weaver has been very effective at Angels Stadium, posting a 2.83 ERA and 1.09 WHIP in 20 starts. Weaver was dominant from the middle of April through the end of May, but has ran into a bit of trouble in his last few starts. This Texas team lacks a lot of the punch it’s had in years past and Weaver has a strong chance to walk away with a “W”. Rating = 5.5
Salaries: $7000 FD, $15931 DS, $15050 DD, $8700 DK, $87700 FF, $22500 SS, $15050 FTD

Texas
Shin-Soo Choo – Choo has been rather disappointing for the Rangers this season, but this is still a guy who posted a 1.011 OPS against right-handed pitching last season and scored 107 runs. He’s has performed fairly well on the road this season, where he owns a .299 average and .851 OPS. He’ll do battle with Jared Weaver and he’s had success against him in the past, going 14 for 31 with six doubles.
Additional Plays: Elvis Andrus, Adrian Beltre
LA Angels
Mike Trout – Trout had his 13 game hitting streak snapped last night but is in a great spot to get a new one started tonight against Nick Martinez. He owns a .410 wOBA against right-handed pitching this season and 1.016 OPS at Angel Stadium. He’s the best hitter in baseball and has proven it this month by posting a 1.267 OPS during the month of June.
Additional Plays: Albert Pujols, Cole Calhoun, Josh Hamilton, Howie Kendrick

Pitcher Grind Down
- Josh Beckett – Beckett has turned the clock back this season and now rocks a 2.49 ERA and 1.03 WHIP through 13 starts. His fantasy stock gets a nice uptick today as he’ll take on the leagues weakest hitting team, the San Diego Padres, in the league’s best pitchers ballpark (Petco Park). The Padres own just a .274 wOBA on the season and with Beckett racking up nearly a strikeout per inning this season, he’s a terrific fantasy option. Rating = 7.5
Salaries: $8000 FD, $18885 DS, $17150 DD, $9600 DK, $88200 FF, $24200 SS, $17150 FTD
- Tyson Ross – Ross is proving to be a DFS specialty, as he’s been so good at Petco Park but somewhat pedestrian away from home. Since the beginning of last season, Ross has posted the following stat line at home: 2.17 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 97 strikeouts in 99.2 innings. The Dodgers are third in MLB in wOBA against right-handed pitching (.336) which limits his value slightly, but he’s definitely still worth consideration anywhere that his price is reasonable. Rating = 6.5
Salaries: $6600 FD, $16703 DS, $15650 DD, $8200 DK, $86700 FF, $23300 SS, $15650 FTD

LA Dodgers
Hanley Ramirez – If you miss out on the early games (ie. Tulo), than Hanley becomes the clear #1 choice at shortstop this evening. He’s riding a seven game hitting streak and has reached base in three of his previous five plate appearances against Tyson Ross.
Additional Plays: Adrian Gonzalez, Yasiel Puig
San Diego
Beckett has pitched extremely well this season and there just isn’t a whole lot of fantasy value in this feeble San Diego lineup, specially inside Petco Park.

Pitcher Grind Down
- Ryan Vogelsong – Vogelsong sports a respectable 3.94 ERA this season, but his 1.34 WHIP leaves a bit to be desired. The Diamondbacks knocked him around a bit in their only previous meeting this season, got to him last season as well, and Vogelsong has struggled on the road this season. He’s been up-and-down all season, so he’s probably better served as a GPP only play today. Rating = 4.5
Salaries: $5800 FD, $15553 DS, $13350 DD, $8400 DK, $67400 FF, $21900 SS, $13350 FTD
- Brandon McCarthy – Despite owning a 1-9 record and 5.18 ERA, McCarthy has actually posted a very strong 2.90 xFIP which indicated he’s been a victim of some bad luck. He’s been a groundball machine this season, but it hasn’t shown in his .331 BABIP just yet, but an improvement is eminent. His strikeout rate is decent (7.63) and he handled this SFG lineup well last season, so don’t be completely scared off. Rating = 4.5
Salaries: $5500 FD, $12228 DS, $11800 DD, $6100 DK, $51200 FF, $15700 SS, $11800 FTD
Batter Grind Down
San Francisco
Hunter Pence – Pence is really hitting the ball well right now, posting a .329 batting average during the month of June. He’ll square off against Brandon McCarthy at the hitter friendly Chase Field and he’s roughed him up in the past, going 7 for 16 with a double, a triple and a homerun.
Additional Plays: Buster Posey, Brandon Crawford
Arizona
Miguel Montero – Montero has posted a .395 wOBA against right-handed pitching and has .904 OPS during the month of May. He’s had success against Vogelsong in the past, going 7 for 21.
Additional Plays: Paul Goldschmidt, Aaron Hill
