Tsuyoshi Wada : FD: $6,300 — DK: $5,700

Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.304 (Rank: 20) — Strikeout Rate: 18.5% (Rank: 7)
Pitchers per PA: 3.92 (Rank: 3)

Analysis: Wada’s peripheral statistics look good, but he hasn’t made it out of the fourth inning in either of his last two starts. That’s a big red flag for me, as the Cubs are not letting him pitch out of trouble. Throw in a matchup against the very talented Indians’ offense and Wada is an easy pitcher to avoid tonight.

Pitcher Rating:53.9

Shaun Marcum : FD: $6,800 — DK: $5,100

Pitching Stats:
2014 – 2015: IP: 33.0 — SIERA: 3.69 — K%: 23.1% — BB%: 7.7% — FB Rate: 44.9% — HR/FB: 17.5%

Chicago Cubs Offense (2015)
vs. RH Pitching: wOBA: 0.309 (Rank: 18) — Strikeout Rate: 25.4% (Rank: 29)
Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.326 (Rank: 6) — Strikeout Rate: 21.9% (Rank: 24)
Pitchers per PA: 4.00 (Rank: 1)

Analysis: Marcum has pitched well this season with a 3.69 SIERA and a strikeout rate of 23.1%. He has given up a lot of home runs this season, but that should regress closer to the major league average moving forward. He draws an interesting matchup against a Cubs’ offense that is ranked 29th in strikeout rate against right-handed pitching. While I could see him pitching well tonight, there are so many great pitching options that I will likely have very little exposure to Marcum.

Last 14 Days: PA: 55 — wOBA: 0.376 — ISO: 0.229 — wRC+: 138

Analysis: The sample size is still small, but Shaun Marcum has given up a .382 wOBA to left-handed hitters this season. Rizzo hits both left and right-handed pitching well and he has plenty of power in his bat. He may be a little too expensive to target on DraftKings, but I love the $4,200 price tag on FanDuel tonight.

Analysis: Santana didn’t make many friends in the DFS community last night, after he hit a three-run homer off of Jake Arrieta. Maybe he can get back on people’s good side with another big outing tonight. He has good power against left-handed pitching and he draws a favorable matchup against Tsuyoshi Wada, who has given up a .340 wOBA to right-handed hitters in the last two seasons.

Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.334 (Rank: 3) — Strikeout Rate: 17.5% (Rank: 4)
Pitchers per PA: 3.76 (Rank: 18)

Analysis: After a great start to the season, Kelly has regressed back to what we have come to expect from him. Over the last month of play, he has a 4.16 SIERA with a low strikeout rate of 16.5%. He draws a tough pitching matchup tonight against a Braves’ team that has the third-lowest strikeout rate of any team against right-handed pitching. The Braves also come into tonight’s game hitting the ball well, ranking third in wOBA (.334) in the last two weeks.

Pitcher Rating:46.8

Alex Wood : FD: $7,700 — DK: $8,000

Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.319 (Rank: 10) — Strikeout Rate: 17.8% (Rank: 5)
Pitchers per PA: 3.99 (Rank: 2)

Analysis: Wood is having a subpar season by his standards. While he gets to face the Red Sox in the best possible situation (at home under National League rules), he’s not a pitcher that is on my radar tonight. The Red Sox have a very potent offense and they are a team that really makes opposing pitchers work. They don’t strike out very often and they average the second-most pitches per plate appearance this season.

Analysis: Bogaerts may be the best value at shortstop tonight. A lot of people will flock to Troy Tulowitzki tonight (and rightly so), but I’m leaning toward Bogaerts, as his price is nearly half of what Tulo’s is. Bogaerts has a .347 wOBA against left-handed pitching and he draws a favorable matchup against Alex Wood, who has not been the same pitcher that he was last season.

Analysis: Freeman is a very safe cash game play tonight. While all position players technically have a floor of zero fantasy points in daily fantasy baseball, more often than most, Freeman produces on a nightly basis. He has a .394 wOBA and a .208 wOBA against right-handed pitching over the last two seasons and he draws a favorable matchup against Joe Kelly.

Analysis: If this game was in Pittsburgh, I would make a strong case for Locke tonight. However, the game is being played in Chicago. Not only is the ballpark better suited for offensive production, but the White Sox will be able to use their DH. Locke’s low strikeout rate isn’t going to make up for the mistakes that he’s likely going to make on the road tonight.

Analysis: Danks is everyone’s favorite pitcher to stack against. Since the start of 2014, he has given up a .368 wOBA to right-handed hitters. That spells trouble tonight against the Pirates, whose lineup is littered with right-handed hitters that feast on left-handed pitching. Avoid Danks tonight at home and don’t be afraid to load up on the Pirates.

Analysis: The Pirates are one of my favorite stacks tonight for quite a few reasons. 1. They are facing John Danks, who as mentioned above, can not get out right-handed hitters. 2. They are playing on the road in an American League park. They are guaranteed nine innings of at-bats and they get to utilize the DH. 3. The Pirates see a favorable ballpark shift tonight playing in the hitter-friendly U.S. Cellular Field. Marte and Co. are in play tonight in cash games and tournaments.

He has a .423 wOBA and a .279 ISO against southpaws in the last two seasons. His price is more than reasonable on both FanDuel and DraftKings, and he draws a favorable matchup against Jeff Locke.

He’s an appealing tournament option tonight against a Twins’ offense that is ranked 29th in wOBA (.291) and 24th in strikeout rate (21.1%) against right-handed pitching.
