The Flyers conclude their three-game western Canadian road trip with a stop in Vancouver, as they look to salvage this horrendous trip on a winning note. Philadelphia has slipped out of the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference and will now have a little work ahead of them if they want to pass three teams and claim the final spot before the end of the season. Brayden Schenn, Claude Giroux, and Wayne Simmonds will skate as the top line, and they’ll also get the first crack on the team’s top power play unit. Schenn leads the team with 13 power play goals, while Giroux leads the team with 23 power play points. Meanwhile, Simmonds leads the club with 24 goals so far this season. Jakub Voracek leads the team with 48 points, and he will skate on the second line with Sean Couturier and Dale Weise. Voracek would make a decent one-off here, but his chances of scoring have dramatically been reduced, as he seems to be the odd man out as the Flyers will now employ defensemen Shayne Gostisbehere and Ivan Provorov on the top power play unit. Either can be used here, as Provorov has 23 points while Gostisbehere has lit the lamp four times and has assisted on 18 other goals in the 52 games he has played in. The Flyers have scored just 19 goals in the last 13 games, so I wouldn’t expect much here tonight against a Vancouver team that is 17-8-1 in front of the home crowd.

Vancouver won a thriller last night, beating the Calgary Flames in overtime by a score of 2-1 in front of the home crowd. The win has them within four points of the last playoff spot in the Western Conference, and they can improve on that number with a win over Philadelphia here tonight. Daniel Sedin, Markus Granlund and Henrik Sedin will skate on the first line, while Bo Horvat will center Alexander Burrows and Jannik Hansen on the second line. Be careful not to go overboard here, as this is yet another game with two bad teams in which anything can happen (and probably will). Horvat leads the team with 18 goals and 39 points, which makes him a solid one-off here tonight. Henrik Sedin leads the team with 23 points, so taking him with his brother Daniel could be used for a tournament play here and there. I don’t mind throwing Granlund in there either, as he makes for a nice punt play. Granlund has grabbed five of his 25 points over the last seven games, which is an indicator that the move up to the top line could be paying off. Troy Stecher and Alexander Efler are the best options that Vancouver has on the back line. Even though Stecher scored last night, he is nothing more than a GPP play, as his 18 points in 50 games does not warrant cash game play tonight.
