Sports Info Solutions: MLB DFS Advice for Tuesday, June 12th
America’s pastime and daily fantasy sports are a perfect fit with an overload of data and statistics to analyze before making your lineup selections.
Because of the amount of information available to the DFS player, it can be a bit overwhelming, so I’ve tried to help you out by recommending a number of well-priced options by using Sports Info Solutions’ SIS Model 3
SIS Model 3 gives DFS players an edge when setting their lineups as it uses the most expansive and accurate wealth of baseball data to create a tested DFS algorithm. You can learn more about the development of the algorithm in the RotoGrinders Marketplace.
Pitching Option
Jon Gray (FD Price $7500)
Although Gray is just 6-6 with a 5.66 ERA, his 3.21 xFIP is actually solid and he boasts a 10.41 K/9. He’ll face a Phillies team with a league-worst 25.8 K%.
Hitting Options
C/1B) Paul Goldschmidt (FD Price $4500)
Is there anyone hotter than Goldschmidt over the past two weeks? With 19 hits in the past 40 ABs, a 1.678 OPS and a .622 wOBA, the answer is no. He goes up against Trevor Williams, who has given up at least four earned runs in his last four starts, and is almost exclusively a fastball pitcher (72.3%). Even after his cold start, Goldschmidt owns a .420 wOBA against the fastball.
2B) Daniel Descalso (FD Price $2800)
Descalso is quietly putting together the best season of his career, posting a .370 wOBA. He’s done most of his damage against the fastball with a 14.8 wFB and that’s Williams’ primary weapon. He’s a hitter who loves home cooking (.410 wOBA) and RHP (.395 wOBA).
3B) Jake Lamb (FD Price $3100)
Lamb’s bat has come to life in June, posting a .412 wOBA. He’s homered in two of his last three starts.
SS) Brandon Crawford (FD Price $3400)
Crawford is putting together an excellent season, batting .333 with a .529 SLG and .381 wOBA. He’s been scalding hot in June with a .574 wOBA, so at this price, he is a steal.
OF) Scott Schebler (FD Price $3400
After a cold May, Schebler has bounced back in June, producing a .470 wOBA. He faces Ian Kennedy, whose fastball has been ineffective all season (-14.3 wFB) while it’s been Schebler most productive pitch (8.2 wFB).
OF) Yasiel Puig (FD Price 3400)
Two things stand out about using Puig on Tuesday – He’s swinging a hot bat and he prefers hitting against RHP. He’s posted a .406 BA and a .483 wOBA in June and he’s got a .353 wOBA against RHP which is 74 points higher than against southpaws.
OF) Matt Kemp (FD Price 3800)
Kemp has been a huge surprise this season, playing like an All-Star. He’s batting .338 with 10 homers and a .393 wOBA. Kemp has done most of his damage against the fastball (12.6 wFB) and faces “Mr. Fastball,” Bartolo Colon, who leads the majors throwing 80.2% heaters.
UTIL) Jason Heyward (FD Price $2800)
Heyward’s season-long numbers are pedestrian (.281 BA, .329 wOBA), but his June totals, after the team moved him to the No.2 hole are .341 BA and .374 wOBA. He’ll face a struggling Chase Anderson (4-5, 4.57 ERA, 5.33 xFIP).
Stacking Option
When it comes time to draft a fantasy baseball team in DFS, stacking is a widely accepted strategy. There’s a reason: it works. If you want to win big, you will need a gigantic score, and stacking makes it easier to rack up the points because the scoring of batters in a given lineup is interrelated. Batters reaching base allows the hitters down the line to drive them in, creating something of a snowball effect.
Arizona Diamondbacks
It’s not hard to see that I like an Arizona stack today with Goldschmidt, Descalso and Lamb already in my starting lineup. Adding David Peralta (8-for-14) over his last three games, .346 wOBA for the season and .481 wOBA in June, could be a solid stack.
