Jean Segura is not in the Diamondback lineup on Sunday
Phillip Gosselin will bat second for Arizona with Segura out of the lineup.

Ben Paulsen will get the start at 1st base today at Coors Field. His 7th place lineup position is not ideal, but he is a value play who will get to face James Shields today. Shields owned a 0.380 wOBA last year against lefties and has shown a proclivity to giving up homeruns in bunches.

Kevin Roth is clear about the threat of postponement in Detroit, giving the NYY-DET game a rating of RED/ORANGE. His full report is available in the RotoGrinders MLB Forum.

Vance Worley is facing the Rays today in what is considered the 3rd best ballpark for left-handed batters OPS. Worley did not give up too many homeruns last year to lefties, but ended the year with aN xFIP of 5.44. If he does not maintain his low 5.7% HR/FB, a few left-handed batters may get the best of him this year. Logan Morrison, Corey Dickerson, and Brad Miller all have a fair shot at putting one in the seats today.

Sunday often means catchers get an opportunity to rest their knees. Maldonado will bat 6th for a slight more watered down Brewers lineup that will be facing Dallas Keuchel.

Playing the Blue Jays at home does not require much analysis, but maybe a few DFS players will undervalue the Jays right-handed bats today because they are facing a right-handed pitcher. Steven Wright’s 0.330 wOBA versus right-handed batters leads me to believe it should be business as usual in Toronto with plenty of production by the RHBs. Unleash Donaldson, Bautista, and company with impunity.

Jose Quintana is on the mound for the White Sox, so it is a bummer that this game has fallen on a Sunday. Roberto Perez will catch Josh Tomlin today and provides little upside.
As reported by: Baseball Press Other tagged players: Jose QuintanaEddie Rosario batting 2nd today for the Twins
Rosario showed power last year, possessing a wOBA of 0.186 against right-handed pitchers, but struck out 25% of the time. He is facing Edinson Volquez, who in 2015 owned a 0.302 versus left-handed batters. It is not a place to start building your lineups, but a reasonable play if you need value.

Williams Perez may not be a well-known pitcher to target, but his 0.374 Woba against LHB should have him squarely on DFS players’ maps. Giving up 1.37 HR/9 to lefties and striking them out less than 13% of the time should lead to cash game type floors for some of the Cardinals lefties. Matt Carpenter, Jeremy Hazelbaker and company should put some good swings on the ball today.

This note applied to yesterday, but with the PPD, it has become the obvious play for today. Tom Koehler had a wOBA of 0.332 against left-handed batters in 2015 compared to 0.313 versus right-handed batters. His 1.53 HR/9 to LHB was likely inflated by his 16.2% HR/FB. Even if his HR/FB versus lefties regresses to his career average of 10% this year, a game-theory driven fade to avoid high ownership in GPPs is your only excuse not to queue up Bryce Harper today.

Tim Melville is a right-handed throwing pitcher, but last year in the minor leagues, he allowed a higher batting average and slugging percentage to right-handed batters, allowing 13 homeruns to RHB and only 1 homerun to LHB. I am not sure if the Pirates believe in reverse splits, but they are rolling out 6 RHB in their starting lineup, including Andrew McCutchen and Starling Marte.

As reported by: RotoGrinders MLB ForumValencia is batting 4th against Nate Karns
In 2015, Nate Karns had very similar wOBAs owning a 0.308 wOBA vs. LHB compared to 0.306 wOBA vs. RHB. If you believe that his 1.73 HR/9 against RHB was not a fluke and his HR/FB ratio against RHB will remain high (it was 16% in 2015, nearly double his HR/FB against LHB), then fire up the “reverse splits” special of the night in Danny Valencia (0.384 wOBA vs. RHP in 2015).
