Sano, Buxton out of the Twins lineup, Arcia getting first start of the year
Sano and Buxton get not in the Twins lineup, opening the door for Oswaldo Arcia to get his first start of 2016.
As reported by: Brandon Warne on Twitter Other tagged players: Miguel Sano, Byron BuxtonNo Gerardo Parra, but still plenty of viable Rockies in the lineup
As DFS players, we are looking to pinpoint production. Coors field is the obvious first factor that will draw attention to this game today with Drew Pomeranz facing off against the Rockies. Pomeranz held left-handed batters in check, limiting LHB to a wOBA of 0.200, but he more than makes up for it with his 0.326 wOBA allowed to right-handed batters. Everyone’s favorite new rookie Trevor Story and other RHBs like Nolan Arenado and DJ LeMaheiu are in a favorable situation. Parra is absent from the lineup, so Ryan Raburn will be the beneficiary of Coors Field at-bats against a southpaw tonight.

Asdrubal Cabrera is batting second for the Mets, who are facing Vince Velasquez in New York. This gives Cabrera a slight bump, increasing his chances to score runs, but keep in my Kevin Roth warned us that temperatures in New York will be frigid.

Jorge Soler is batting 7th for the Cubs tonight in Arizona, but does not provide much promise unless we are banking on Greinke struggling two starts in a row.

No Adam Jones in the lineup for the Orioles. Baltimore will go with a trio of right-handed bats, including Joey Rickard, Nolan Reimold, and Mark Trumbo in the outfield. Drew Smyly has been fairly boom or busts to target with batters, possessing a 0.324 wOBA against right-handed batters, but giving up a massive 1.92 HR/9 to RHB.

If you want to play batters who will be putting the ball in play today, play Royals against Tommy Milone. In 2015, Milone had the 8th lowest K% vs. right-handed batters at 15.3%. The Royals on the other side had a league leading 15.1% K% against left-handed pitchers in 2015. This is a formula for contact, making a play like Lorenzo Cain (0.405 wOBA, 0.232 ISO) a fantastic high floor cash game play. Salvador Perez, who has been making solid contact this season so far, is also worth a look at the catcher position.

Maikel Franco is back in the Phillies’ lineup, batting cleanup against right-hander Bartolo Colon. Although Colon’s xFIP in 2015 was lower against RHB (3.68) than LHB (4.18), an xFIP of 3.68 still makes Franco one of the stronger plays at third base tonight. This game will feature strong winds, but they should remain crosswinds that will not provide Franco with any advantages/disadvantages.
As reported by: Ryan Lawrence on TwitterBraves Fill Their Lineup with Left-handed Batters
Kelly Johnson is in the Braves lineup to face Carlos Martinez. C-Mart’s w0BA of 0.329 against left-handed batters, combined with Johnson’s 0.184 ISO versus right-handed pitchers makes Johnson a viable punt option tonight. KJ will strike out 20% of the time, but at minimum price, he is worth consideration.

A number of noticeable lefties are absent from the Dodgers lineup today facing Bumgarner. Regulars Joc Pederson and Corey Seager are not in the lineup, while Carl Crawford is headed to the DL with a back issue. The right handed fill-ins are not worth consideration, but make sure these notable LAD lefties are not in your lineups.

Doug Fister is an equal opportunist, giving up a moderate number of longballs to both left-handed and right-handed batters in 2015. Through 4 games in Milwaukee this year, the games have had run totals of 15, 3, 7, and 10. With Doug Fister and Wily Peralta on the mound, the run total projected for this game should entice DFS players to play batters from both teams. Do NOT rule out right-handed sluggers like Ryan Braun and Chris Carter because they are facing a right-handed pitcher, with Domingo Santana and Scooter Gennett making for nice additions to any Brewers stacks involving Braun and Carter.

The LAD@SF game this afternoon received a ORANGE/YELLOW rating from Kevin Roth, while the late game involving TEX@LAA received a YELLOW. This game involves two of the top options at pitcher today, so the weather makes both Kershaw and Bumgarner high risk/high reward plays for GPPs.

Kevin Roth warns that BAL, DET, CIN, CWS, and NYM all have very cold temperatures! He advises to use caution when selecting players from any of these games, although no game was rated worse than a Yellow/Orange.

The hero of last nights game against the Dodgers, Brandon Crawford, is not in the lineup today against Kershaw. Kelby Tomlinson will be in the lineup, but does not serve as a viable DFS option against the best pitcher in the league.
