Gary Harris (hamstring) listed out Sunday
Harris has officially been downgraded from questionable and won’t be available to play in Sunday’s matchup against the New York Knicks due to a sore left knee that’s now kept him sidelined for all three games this season. His absence will enable Jalen Suggs and Franz Wagner to continue starting on the wing, and each have separately put up stellar daily fantasy performances in the early going. This should also allow R.J. Hampton to continue being the primary guard off the bench and handle most of the playmaking responsibilities along with Terrance Ross in the second unit.
As reported by: NBA Official Injury ReportAndre Drummond (ankle) listed out Sunday
As expected, Drummond has been downgraded from doubtful and is now listed out on the Sixers’ injury report for Sunday’s matchup against the Oklahoma City Thunder due to a sprained right ankle, while Joel Embiid remains listed as questionable with right knee soreness. With Drummond sidelined, Paul Reed and potentially Charles Bassey figure to see some run at backup center when Embiid is off the floor, though head coach Doc Rivers has typically been hesitant to trust Reed with extended playing time during the regular season and that could lead to longer stretches with Georges Niang manning the five-spot in smaller lineup combinations. Additionally, Embiid sported a ridiculous 42.5% usage rate, 22.8% assist rate, and 21.4% rebound rate in 421.1 minutes with Ben Simmons off the court last season.
As reported by: NBA Official Injury ReportAndre Iguoadala (hip) listed out Sunday
Iguodala has been added to the Warriors’ injury report and won’t play in Sunday’s matchup against the Sacramento Kings due to a sore left hip. Iguodala has managed to log at least 23 minutes off the bench in each of Golden State’s first two games of the season, so his absence will certainly open additional playing time on the wing for the likes of Damion Lee, Otto Porter Jr., and Jordan Poole, though there’s always the possibility head coach Steve Kerr extends his rotation to give Moses Moody or Gary Payton II meaningful playing time with the second unit, which could eat into the minute floors and ceiling of the three aforementioned rotation regulars this evening.
As reported by: NBA Official Injury ReportJaylen Brown (knee) and Romeo Langford (calf) ruled out Sunday
Brown has officially been downgraded from questionable and won’t play in Sunday’s matchup against the Orlando Magic due to left patella tendinopathy that he’s continued to deal with since early in the preseason. In his absence, Dennis Schroder will receive the starting nod alongside Marcus Smart in the backcourt, and he figures to have a stable minute floor considering he’s already logged 32 minutes off the bench in one game this season. With Romeo Langford being a surprise late scratch because of left calf tightness, Aaron NeSmith, Grant Williams, and/or Payton Pritchard could see increased roles with the second unit, though it’d still be farfetched for any of them to see enough playing time to put up a relevant score in large-field tournaments across the daily fantasy industry this evening.
As reported by: Jay King via Twitter Other tagged players: Romeo LangfordJrue Holiday (heel) and Rodney Hood (foot) listed available Saturday
As expected, Holiday and Hood have both been upgraded from probable and will be available to play in Saturday’s matchup against the San Antonio Spurs after each player missed the Bucks’ Precious contest due to their respective ailments. It remains to be seen if Hood is able to carve out a meaningful role in head coach Mike Budenholzer’s rotation, so it’s unlikely his return has much daily fantasy impact. As for Holiday, he’ll slot back into the starting lineup at point guard, which will send George Hill to the bench to resume a reserve role following his serviceable performance last time out.
As reported by: NBA Official Injury Report Other tagged players: Rodney HoodMaurice Harkless (hip) ruled out Friday
Harkless has officially been downgraded from questionable and won’t play in Friday’s matchup against the Utah Jazz due to left hip soreness. The Kings have already announced that Terence Davis will receive the starting nod at the small forward position in his place, vaulting him to the status as one of the better value options on the late slates across the daily fantasy industry. Even in a starting role, don’t expect Davis to log massive minutes with Buddy Hield and Davion Mitchell both poised to see their fair share of playing time with the starters and the second unit, but if head coach Luke Walton doesn’t expand the rotation to fill the void left by Harkless’ absence, Davis will still have the potential to achieve a relevant ceiling outcome for large-field tournament formats this evening.
As reported by: Jason Anderson via TwitterJoel Embiid (knee) will play Friday
Embiid finished testing out his sore knee in pregame warmups and has officially been cleared to play and start in Friday’s matchup against the Brooklyn Nets after originally being listed as questionable on the Sixers’ injury report. In Wednesday’s season opener, Embiid was well on his way smashing tournament value in the first half but ended up sitting the entire fourth quarter and logged just 26 minutes as the Sixers cruised to a blowout win. With Ben Simmons still sidelined for an undetermined period, Embiid, Tobias Harris, and Tyrese Maxey all remain elite options for all daily fantasy formats at their current prices across the industry. Embiid sported a ridiculous 42.5% usage rate, 22.8% assist rate, and 21.4% rebound rate in 421.1 minutes with Simmons off the court last season.
As reported by: Adrian Wojnarowski via TwitterDarius Garland (ankle) ruled out Friday
Garland has officially been downgraded from questionable and won’t play in Friday’s matchup against the Charlotte Hornets due to a sprained left ankle, while Dean Wade remains listed as probable with a sprained right ankle. In Garland’s absence, Ricky Rubio will step into the starting lineup in his place, and he should have a solidified minute floor after logging 25 minutes off the bench in Cleveland’s season opener. If Collin Sexton continues to see solely minutes at the shooting guard position, Kevin Pangos could join the rotation as the backup point guard or Cedi Osman could see more run as the point-man in more non-traditional lineup combinations this evening.
As reported by: Chris Fedor via TwitterBradley Beal (hip) officially out Friday
As expected, Beal has officially been downgraded from questionable and won’t play in Friday’s matchup against the Indiana Pacers due to a right hip contusion. Beal had originally planned to test out the injury during pregame warmups, but it appears he didn’t make enough progress since morning shootaround given the prompt decision on his playing status for tonight’s contest. His absence will obviously be a tremendous boost to the entire Washington starting lineup from a usage perspective while some combination of Davis Bertans, Deni Avdija, Raul Neto, and/or Aaron Holiday should benefit from additional playing time as a replacement starter or as a reserve with the second unit this evening.
As reported by: the Washington Wizards via TwitterBradley Beal (hip, groin) closer to doubtful Friday
Beal is still technically listed as questionable on the Wizards’ injury report for Friday’s matchup against the Indiana Pacers, but according to reports, he is trending towards not playing in tonight’s contest despite plans to test his ailing hip and groin during pregame warmups. His potential absence would obviously be a tremendous boost to the entire Washington starting lineup from a usage perspective while some combination of Davis Bertans, Deni Avdija, Raul Neto, and/or Aaron Holiday should benefit from additional playing time as a replacement starter or as a reserve with the second unit this evening.
As reported by: Quinton Mayo via TwitterLou Williams (hip) available to play Thursday
Williams was originally listed as questionable on the Hawks’ injury report, but he’ll be available to play off the bench in Thursday’s season opener against the Dallas Mavericks despite dealing with a sore left hip. However, Atlanta is thin in the frontcourt with Danilo Gallinari and Onyeka Okongwu both previously ruled out with their respective ailments and Clint Capela on an undisclosed minute restriction to begin the season. This could lead to increased usage for the likes of De’Andre Hunter and John Collins, while Gorgui Dieng figures to see an increased workload with the second unit or in traditional lineup variations when Capela is off the court this evening.
As reported by: Brad Rowland via TwitterBrook Lopez (back) and Jrue Holiday (heel) ruled out Thursday
Lopez is a new addition to the Bucks’ injury report and has been listed out for Thursday’s matchup against the Miami Heat due to a sore back, while Holiday is now also listed out with a right heel contusion despite originally being classified as probable overnight. The Bucks are now down six roster players with Lopez and Holiday unavailable, and while Milwaukee is particularly thin at the center and guard positions, there’s still several starting lineup variations that head coach Mike Budenholzer can utilize at his disposal. Even if Giannis Antetokounmpo doesn’t slide over to the center position to begin the game, he figures to spend a sizable portion of his time on the court without a traditional big man as Sandro Mamukelashvili is the only remaining option in that category. The smaller lineup combinations are great news for the minute floors of George Hill, Pat Connaughton, and Jordan Nwora, even if one or both latter two don’t initially crack the first unit this evening.
As reported by: NBA Official Injury Report Other tagged players: Jrue HolidayGary Harris (hamstring) scratched Wednesday; Jalen Suggs will start in his place
Harris was originally announced as a member of the Magic starting lineup, but he’s now been scratched from Wednesday’s season opener against the San Antonio Spurs due to a hamstring injury. In his place, Jalen Suggs will join the first unit alongside Cole Anthony in the backcourt, though the lineup change is unlikely to allot him more playing time since the high lottery pick in this year’s draft figures to be a key cog in Orlando’s rotation all season. However, the absence of Harris should enable R.J. Hampton to see an expanded role in the second unit whereas Franz Wagner should also have a longer leash as the starting small forward this evening.
As reported by: Orlando Magic PR via Twitter Other tagged players: Jalen SuggsTerry Rozier (ankle) ruled out Wednesday
Rozier was previously downgraded to questionable on the Hornets’ injury report, and he’s now officially been ruled out of Wednesday’s season opener against the Indiana Pacers due to a sprained left ankle. With Rozier unavailable, Kelly Oubre will join the starting lineup alongside Gordon Hayward on the wing, though Hayward will have his minutes monitored, according to reports, which may lead to increased opportunities for the likes of Cody Martin and Miles Bridges off the bench. It remains to be seen if head coach James Borrego entrusts James Bouknight to handle meaningful minutes this early in the season, but even if he does, it appears unlikely Bouknight would see enough playing time to become relevant in large-field daily fantasy tournaments this evening.
As reported by: Rod Boone via TwitterTaj Gibson (personal) and Nerlens Noel (knee) ruled out Wednesday
Gibson is a late addition to the Knicks’ injury report and won’t play in Wednesday’s season opener against the Boston Celtics as he deals with a personal matter, while Noel has been downgraded from doubtful to out because of a sore left knee. Their absences do leave a sizable void at the center position, which gives Mitchell Robinson a much stabler floor and more achievable ceiling in daily fantasy formats if he’s able to stay out of foul trouble. The Knicks also do have rookie Jericho Sims to help soak up some minutes at the five-spot, but if head coach Tom Thibodeau simply chooses to condense his rotation, expect to see a decent amount of Julius Randle as the small-ball center with either Obi Toppin or Kevin Know manning the power forward position alongside him this evening.
