DeMarcus Cousins (right ankle sprain) ruled out tonight; Dante Cunningham will start
Cousins will not play in tonight’s game against the Utah Jazz after previously being listed as questionable on the Pelicans’ injury report with a sprained right ankle that has now forced him to miss two consecutive games. Dante Cunningham will draw the start at power forward once again but is not a viable daily fantasy option. The absence of Cousins from the lineup is obviously a tremendous bump to the projected fantasy value of Anthony Davis and Jrue Holiday since a large amount of usage and fantasy production will need to be diverted elsewhere in the starting unit. In fact, Davis (38.8%), Holiday (26.8%), and Tim Frazier (17.3%) all own at least a +3.1% usage rate differential with Cousins off the court since the All-Star break. Clearly, Davis and Holiday are firmly in play for tournaments despite the difficult matchup with the Jazz defensive unit.

Gordon Hayward (quad) ruled out tonight; Joe Ingles will start
Hayward will not play in tonight’s game against the New Orleans Pelicans after previously being listed as questionable on the Jazz’s injury report with a left quad contusion, while Shelvin Mack remains questionable. Mack had been bumped from the rotation even prior to his injury stint, so his status does not do much to move the needle of anyone in the Jazz rotation. Hayward’s unavailability, on the other hand, frees up a ton of usage for the likes of Rodney Hood, Rudy Gobert, and George Hill in the starting unit. Joe Ingles will receive the starting nod at small forward alongside Boris Diaw at the four, putting Ingles firmly in play as a value option at a typically shallow small forward position on the late slate.

Curry will not play in tonight’s game against the Oklahoma City Thunder due to a shoulder injury despite never appearing on the Mavericks’ injury report at any point throughout the day. In his absence, Yogi Ferrell will be reinserted into the starting lineup at point guard, while J.J. Barea and Devin Harris should be in line for some extra playing time off the bench. With Curry off the court since the All-Star break, several Mavericks players have seen a substantial increase in usage rates, as Wesley Matthews (22.8%), Dirk Nowitzki (31.7%), and Nerlens Noel (22.0%) all own at least a +4.9% usage rate differential. The Mavericks find themselves in a pace up matchup with Oklahoma City this evening, putting all three of the aforementioned players firmly in play for tournaments.

Afflalo is not with the team and will not play in tonight’s game against the Memphis Grizzlies due to a personal matter. Additionally, Tyreke Evans has been confirmed out for rest after previously being listed as out in the Kings’ game notes. With both Afflalo and Evans unavailable, Garrett Temple will almost assuredly draw the start at small forward given Sacramento’s sudden lack of depth on the wing. The minutes for Kings players outside of Willie Cauley-Stein Buddy Hield have been all over the place since the All-Star break, as no other player is averaging over 30 minutes of playing time, so it’s difficult to really confidently target anyone outside of them on this Sacramento roster. Barring any additional late news from the Kings, Hield and Cauley-Stein remain the only viable options outside of Darren Collison should Ty Lawson be unavailable once again.

Jackson will be rested and won’t play in tonight’s game against the New York Knicks despite never appearing on the Pistons’ injury report at any point throughout the day. Ish Smith had recently overtaken the starting point guard role from Jackson and will obviously draw the start once again in his absence. With this news, Smith immediately becomes the top value option on the board considering Beno Udrih is now the only other active point guard competing for playing time behind him. It would be realistic to expect Smith to see in the range of 30-35 minutes this evening, which should allow him to easily exceed value in a great individual matchup against Derrick Rose defense.

Bojan Bogdanovic and Ian Mahinimi both expected to play against the Lakers on Tuesday
Bogdanovic missed the Wizards’ last game due to a sore back but is expected to play. He’ll resume his role off the bench and should be considered a strong tournament option against the Lakers. Ian Mahinmi took a knee to the hip and only ended up playing about eight minutes. Mahinmi will also be available off the bench but Bogdanovic has the higher ceiling of the two players.

Shumpert will not play in tonight’s game against the San Antonio Spurs after previously being listed as questionable on the Cavaliers’ injury report with a sore right knee that has now forced him to miss two consecutive games. His absence from the rotation will open some additional reserve minutes on the wing for Richard Jefferson, especially with Kyle Korver ruled out, while starting shooting guard, J.R. Smith, finally eclipsed the 30-minute mark in the last two games for the first time since returning from a fractured thumb. Given Cleveland’s lack of depth on the wing, Smith now enters tournament consideration even in a difficult matchup with the stingy San Antonio defense.

Updating a previous incorrect report from a Spurs beat writer, Kawhi Leonard is actually a full-go and will play in tonight’s game against the Cleveland Cavaliers. There was apparently a miscommunication between said Spurs reporter and his source on the availability of Leonard for Monday’s contest. We try to relay player updates to users as quickly as possible, which is the reason the original alert was sent stating the Leonard would not play this evening. However, as previously mentioned, Leonard is still fully in play in all daily fantasy formats and the remaining Spurs players should still be approached as normal.

Thomas will not play in tonight’s game against the Detroit Pistons due to a sore right hip that has now forced him to miss three consecutive games. Guillermo Hernangomez will more than likely remain in the Knicks starting lineup at center. Even though Carmelo Anthony is officially active, he is not guaranteed to see his normal allotment of minutes, as Knicks head coach Jeff Hornacek has been intent on limiting the minutes of select veterans to give some of the young guns more time to develop. Porzingis still remains the primary Knicks player to target since he has been the focus of New York’s recent youth movement. As long as Porzingis can stay out of foul trouble, he is primed to put up a quality performance this evening.

Marc Gasol was unable to play last night due to a left foot issue. He was originally listed as questionable for tonight but has since been downgraded to doubtful. Zach Randolph started in his place last night against the Warriors and is expected to start in his place once again. Randolph played 29 minutes and was able to exceed value. He’ll be a strong cash game play against the Kings once again tonight. Mike Conley is also once again a strong option with Gasol out but is not exactly cheap. JaMychal Green also played 31 minutes for the first time since February and is a viable punt option against a big Sacramento team.

Carroll will not play in tonight’s game against the Orlando Magic after previously being listed as questionable on the Raptors’ game notes with a sore lower back that has now forced him to miss two consecutive games. In his absence, P.J. Tucker will receive the starting nod at small forward once again. Tucker has seen at least 33 minutes of action in each of his prior two spot starts, so it’s more than reasonable to expect Tucker to see similar run this evening. If we can expect that type of playing time for Tucker, he immediately becomes one of the better value options on the Monday’s slate given his propensity to fill up the stat sheet.

Ty Lawson was unable to play last night against the Clippers due to a sore knee. Darren Collison ended up playing 28 minutes and will likely have the same minutes allotted to him if Lawson is out once again. Collison remains cheap but has to face a tough Memphis team on the second night of a back-to-back. With the position lacking its usual depth, Collison is still viable, but would only work for GPPs. Tyreke Evans played 21 minutes last night and is expected to rest. Buddy Hield will likely see the biggest usage bump and Garrett Temple should hop back into the starting lineup if Evans is out. This news is unofficial and we expect to get the list of available players after lineups lock.

Stuckey was expected to take on a larger role with Glenn Robinson III out but is now questionable due to a sore knee. C.J. Miles moved back to the bench with Monta Ellis starting last night and will likely have to fill in Stuckey’s role if he is out. Stuckey was not a major contributor and Miles also underperformed in his new role. Aaron Brooks has seen a slight uptick in minutes over the last four games but is still not seeing enough minutes to make a significant impact.
