P.J. Tucker will start for DeMarre Carroll (back) tonight
Carroll will not play in tonight’s game against the Dallas Mavericks due to a sore lower back despite never appearing on the Raptors’ injury report at any point throughout the day. The Raptors have announced that they will start P.J. Tucker at small forward in his place. In the two previous games Carroll has missed, Norman Powell has drawn the start at the small forward spot each time and played north of 30 minutes in each contest. Tucker saw 33 minutes of action in his previous spot start on Thursday filling in for the suspended Serge Ibaka, so it’s extremely realistic to expect him to see similar run this evening. If we can expect that type of playing time for Tucker, he immediately becomes one of the better value options on the late slate given his propensity to fill up the stat sheet.

Anthony will not play in tonight’s game against the San Antonio Spurs after previously being listed questionable in the Knicks’ game notes with a sore left knee that has now forced him to miss two consecutive games. This means that Mindaugas Kuzminskas will presumably start at small forward once again with Lance Thomas already ruled out, and Guillermo Hernangomez will likely remain in the starting lineup at center, while Kristaps Porzingis will man the four spot. Meanwhile, Derrick Rose will play through a sore right foot that kept him sidelined one game, and his presence in the lineup will send Ron Baker back to the bench to resume his reserve role. Rose immediately becomes an intriguing tournament option, despite the difficult matchup, as he and Kristaps Porzingis will be relied upon to shoulder most of the offensive load with Carmelo still sidelined.

Green will be rested and won’t play in tonight’s game against the New York Knicks due to a planned recovery day. Kyle Anderson will receive the starting nod at the shooting guard spot with Dejounte Murray still sidelined with a groin injury. Green is such a low usage player in the Spurs starting five that his absence doesn’t particularly move the needle on anyone else’s usage or production. With that said, Anderson is an even lower usage player, especially when he starts, so he is nothing more than a long-shot secondary tournament option if needing to save salary at the small forward spot on Saturday’s main slate. Even then, he’s not a particularly viable one.

Bogdanovic will not play in tonight’s game against the Cleveland Cavaliers due to lower back stiffness despite never appearing on the Wizards’ injury report at any point throughout the day. His absence from the rotation should open up some extra playing time for Otto Porter and possibly even Kelly Oubre off the bench, though Oubre still shouldn’t be expected to see more than the 23 minutes he played in Friday’s contest. Porter has seen a significant dip in minutes over the last three games, so even with Bogdanovic unavailable, he seems to better reserved as a tournament-only option on Saturday’s slate.

Shumpert will not play in tonight’s game against the Washington Wizards due to a sore right knee despite never appearing on the Cavaliers’ injury report at any point throughout the day. His absence from the rotation will open some additional reserve minutes on the wing for the likes of Kyle Korver and Richard Jefferson while starting shooting guard, J.R. Smith, finally eclipsed the 30-minute mark for the first time since returning from a fractured thumb in Friday’s win over the Charlotte Hornets. The Cavaliers have already confirmed that LeBron James will play through his right eye corneal abrasion after being listed as questionable and Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love will not be rested, meaning that the Big Three will be fully intact for tonight’s contest. Their presence in the lineup essentially removes any other Cavaliers players from consideration entirely, other than maybe Smith.

Ingram has officially been listed as questionable for tomorrow’s game against the Portland Trail Blazers due to ongoing patella tendinitis in his right knee. However, Ingram did tell reporters following Friday’s win over the Minnesota Timberwolves that he plans to play in Sunday’s contest despite the questionable designation. Ingram has become a staple in the Lakers starting lineup and is a primary focus of their youth movement in recent weeks and going forward. Ingram has consistently been seeing north of 35 minutes of playing time a night, so while his price tag remains affordable, he is quickly becoming one the better safe cash game options on a nightly basis. Although, on Sunday, he may be better reserved for tournaments given the uncertainty surrounding knee injury.

James will play and start in tonight’s game against the Washington Wizards after previously being listed as questionable on the Cavaliers’ injury report with a corneal abrasion in his right eye that he sustained in Friday’s win over the Charlotte Hornets. The Cavaliers have also confirmed that Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love will not be rested, meaning that the Big Three will be fully intact for tonight’s contest. Love was recently cleared by the Cavaliers medical staff to play in back-to-backs, but he will still remain on a minute restriction and has yet to eclipse the 28-minute mark since his return from knee surgery. He can be expected to see closer to the floor of his restriction (25 minutes) considering this will be his first back-to-back since returning. The presence of LeBron in the starting lineup is a significant hit to the projected fantasy value of Irving, but both he and LeBron still remain viable options in what is expected to be a closely contested matchup.

Millsap will not play in tomorrow’s game against the Brooklyn Nets due to tightness in his left knee that has now forced him to miss four consecutive games. Additionally, Kent Bazemore will remain sidelined with a right knee bone bruise and is expected to be reevaluated in the coming week. Ersan Ilyasova and Tim Hardaway Jr. will continue to start in their place at power forward and shooting guard respectively. Ilyasova hasn’t seen a huge uptick in playing time as a starter, but Hardaway Jr. has averaged just over 36 minutes per contest and is set up to be an elite option tomorrow. With Millsap and Bazemore off the court since the All-Star break, Dennis Schroder has led the Hawks with a +4.5% usage rate differential (35.7%) and is coming off a huge performance against the Bucks on Friday, which is typically a difficult matchup for point guards. The matchup against Brooklyn is essentially as good as it gets, and Schroder will join Hardaway Jr. as an elite option on Sunday’s slate.

Felicio will not play in tomorrow’s game against the Milwaukee Bucks due to a lower back contusion that has now forced him to miss three consecutive games. His absence should realistically open up some additional playing time for Joffrey Lauvergne off the bench and even starting center Robin Lopez. However, the Bulls put up an all-around dismal performance in Friday’s loss to the Philadelphia 76ers, so it’s difficult to assess how minutes will actually be allotted going forward. Bobby Portis was really the only Chicago big man to show up on Friday night, so he could be interesting tournament option on Sunday’s slate. Although, a matchup with the exploitable Milwaukee frontcourt should be a perfect bounce-back spot for Lopez after letting everyone down yesterday, which will also likely lower his ownership in large-field tournaments.

Anderson will not play in tomorrow’s game against the Oklahoma City Thunder after sustaining a sprained right ankle in Friday’s win over the New Orleans Pelicans. The Rockets have yet to release any further details of the injury, but it sounds as if Anderson could miss extended time and not just Sunday’s contest. The last time Anderson was sidelined due to injury, Eric Gordon was inserted into the Rockets starting lineup, which moved Trevor Ariza down to starting power forward spot. Not only is Gordon in line for some extra minutes (played 40 minutes in his previous start), but he also owns a +1.8% usage differential (20.5%) with Anderson off the court since the All-Star break. While that usage bump isn’t huge, it’s still noteworthy and combined with the expected minute increase, Gordon is shaping up to be a fantastic value option on Sunday’s slate.

Henson is reportedly expected to miss approximately one week of action due to a sprained left thumb that had forced him to already miss two consecutive games. In his absence, Spencer Hawes has essentially stepped right into Henson’s role off the bench, averaging 15 minutes per contest. Effectively, there has been little or no extra minutes available for Greg Monroe or starter Thon Maker. It’s extremely rare for Monroe to approach or exceed 30 minutes off the bench, but he occasionally does, which could possibly make make him an interesting tournament option in the coming week in the right matchup.
