Joe Johnson (left groin soreness) ruled out tonight
Johnson will not play in tonight’s game against the Brooklyn Nets due to a sore left groin despite never appearing on the Jazz’s injury report at any point during the day. With Rodney Hood also ruled out, Joe Ingles will likely draw the start at shooting guard once again. Ingles has been a volatile option in the recent contests that Hood has missed, as he has essentially been splitting minutes with Johnson and Alec Burks on the wing, something he was not doing earlier in the season during Hood’s prior injury stint. Although, there now seems to be some extra minutes available for Ingles and Burks with Johnson unavailable. In a large sample size with Hood off the court, Gordon Hayward owns a positive 2.3% usage rate differential (31.7%) while averaging just over 40 fantasy points per 36 minutes, which would likely allow him to exceed salary-based expectations Friday in what is a glorious matchup with a Nets squad that ranks dead last in DvP against opposing small forwards.

Victor Oladipo (back) not available to play tonight since he did not travel to Phoenix
Victor Oladipo has not been with the team due to back spasms and Alex Abrines is expected to start once again with Oladipo out. Abrines is not a strong fantasy option after he only played 10 minutes last night against the Blazers. Doug McDermott played 37 minutes last night and is a strong fantasy option on both major sites due to his salary sitting under $4k. McDermott is extremely reliant on scoring for his fantasy output, but the game environment should work in his favor due to the fact they are playing the Suns tonight.

Khris Middleton starting ahead of Rashad Vaughn tonight
Khris Middleton will start ahead of Rashad Vaughn tonight. Middleton is coming off a game where he played a little over 30 minutes and should be considered an elite option in all formats. Middleton’s salary has jumped considerably since his return from a hamstring injury, but he was over $7.5k towards the end of last season. With Jabari Parker and Michael Beasley out of the lineup, Middleton (26.4%) is second on the team in usage rate. Rashad Vaughn will not be a viable option off the bench and should be avoided on a full slate.

Stauskas has been confirmed as the starter at shooting guard for tonight’s game against the New York Knicks in place of the injured Gerald Henderson. In prior games that Henderson has missed, Stauskas has typically played between 28-30 minutes, which puts him firmly into consideration as punt option at a horrendously shallow shooting guard position. Stauskas is still a volatile option, but given the lack of opportunity cost at the position, he can be targeted in all daily fantasy formats this evening.

Waiters, Whiteside, and McGruder all will play and start in tonight’s game against the Orlando Magic after previously appearing on the Heat’s injury report with their respective ailments. The entire Heat squad is now available to play in Friday’s contest, which removes any potential value options like Okaro White and Josh Richardson from consideration entirely on a 10-game slate. The entire Miami rotation is relatively priced up due to all their injuries, but Whiteside and Waiters could still be intriguing tournament options that absorb reduced ownership after carrying injury designations throughout the day on sites across the industry.

Reed will available to play off the bench in tonight’s game against the Orlando Magic after previously being listed as questionable on the Heat’s injury report with right ankle bursitis. Reed went through Friday’s shootaround without any limitations, but it does look unlikely that he will see his normal allotment of minutes if he plays this evening. Reed clearly isn’t a viable option with Miami virtually fully healthy but his potential presence in the rotation certainly removes Okaro White from any possible punt considerations.

Jennings will officially be active for tonight’s game against the Toronto Raptors and, according to Wizards head coach Scott Brooks, he will make his Wizards debut this evening. The amount of playing time Jennings will see still remains uncertain but, for now, it looks as if he will primarily compete for backup point guard minutes behind John Wall. However, Brooks hinted that the Wizards may roll out more three-guard lineups with Wall, Jennings, and Bradley Beal once Jennings becomes more acclimated with the team. In terms of Friday’s slate, Jennings can be easily avoided in all formats.

Simply updating a previous report: Kenneth Faried has been officially ruled out for Saturday’s game against Hornets

The team originally listed Faried out for 7-10 days and he’s been getting treatment around the clock to calm down his back spasms. The team is not expecting to play against the Hornets tomorrow night and Wilson Chandler will likely continue to start. Chandler will be a viable option against the Hornets but his salary makes it tough to reap a ton of profit.

Nelson was unable to play on Wednesday against Milwaukee due to food poisoning. Jamal Murray started in his place and played 30 minutes. Murray was able to exceed value on his cheap salary but did not return an elite performance. His usage rate was also down compared to his reserve role and Murray will likely go back to the bench with Nelson expected back. Nelson and Murray are both simply secondary GPP options with Danilo Gallinari and Nikola Jokic playing so well.

Robinson hasn’t played in nearly a week but he’s ready to return to action tonight. He’s a non-existent part of the Lakers rotation, however, so the DFS impact is minimal at best.

Willy Hernangomez OUT for Knicks tonight
The young Knicks big man will miss another game tonight with an ankle injury. Last game out, Kristaps Porzingis started in his place with Lance Thomas starting at the four. Kyle O’Quinn came off the bench and played sparingly (less than 20 minutes). Knicks Head Coach Jeff Hornacek hinted that Marshall Plumlee could see some run off the bench tonight when they take on the 76ers. The only viable DFS option of the group is Porzingis, and he’s a top option, especially if he starts again at center and gets to face the weak defense of Jahlil Okafor.

It appears that everyone for Miami is a full go tonight after the entire team took part in the team shootaround. Dion Waiters, who was listed as questionable, was the biggest concern after suffering an ankle injury on Wednesday but he told local media that he’s going to try and play. Hassan Whiteside, Willie Reed, and Rodney McGruder were the other concerns but should be fine.

The Heat back up big man has missed the last two games but looks likely to play tonight after taking part in the team shootaround. We’ll update his status later today when more news becomes available.

Henderson is battling a hip injury and is out for the next two games for Philadelphia including tonight’s game against the Knicks. This means that Nik Stauskas is the likely start – he’s a viable play but he tends to run better off the bench so take that into consideration before throwing him into your DFS lineup.
