Joel Embiid (rest) ruled out for Saturday
Embiid will be rested and won’t play in tomorrow’s game against the Atlanta Hawks, but is expected to be back for Tuesday’s contest. Jahlil Okafor will likely draw the start once again, and step into Embiid’s role in the rotation, as Sixers head coach Brett Brown has made it clear that he prefers to keep Nerlens Noel in his current role off the bench. Okafor should be expected to completely absorb the minutes vacated by Embiid and possibly a few more. No member of the Sixers’ starting unit drastically benefits from a usage standpoint in Embiid’s absence, as the usage seems to be distributed rather evenly. Assuming he starts, Okafor would be the top overall target in the Philly frontcourt when taking price and projected minutes into consideration.

Luol Deng (wrist) ruled out tonight; Brandon Ingram will start
Deng will not play in tonight’s game against the Indiana Pacers after previously being listed as questionable on the Lakers’ injury report with a sprained right wrist that has now forced him to miss two consecutive games. Deng has missed three games this season, and Brandon Ingram has averaged just over 35 minutes of playing time in those contests. Not only is Ingram’s minute floor increased without Deng, but he has also been playing well of late, just further cementing his status as one of the top value options on the late slates across the industry.

Parsons will be rested and won’t play in tonight’s game against the Sacramento Kings, but he is expected to play in the second leg of the Grizzlies’ back-to-back set against the Houston Rockets on Saturday. This has a become a relatively normal practice by the Memphis coaching staff, as Parsons remains on a maintenance plan while he works his way back from multiple injuries. James Ennis will start in his place at small forward and is worth consideration on the late slates across the industry, but is typically a low-floor, low-ceiling option.

Anderson will play in tonight’s game against the Golden State Warriors after previously being listed as questionable on the Rockets’ injury report due to an illness that forced him to miss two consecutive games. Anderson is expected to start, but his minute allotment remains unknown, making it difficult to pull the trigger on him in any format given the already added risk associated with a player’s return from illness. Additionally, Nene will be rested for Friday’s contest on the front end of a back-to-back set and Montrezl Harrell will start ahead of Clint Capela at center, who is still working his way back from injury.

Lawson will play in tonight’s game against the Memphis Grizzlies after previously being listed as probable on the Kings’ injury with a sprained left ankle that forced him to miss one game. Arron Afflalo drew the start in Wednesday’s loss to the Indiana Pacers since Garrett Temple had to handle the backup point guard duties behind Darren Collison. With Rudy Gay and Omri Casspi still sidelined and Lawson returning, Temple could find himself back in the starting lineup at one of the wing positions. Now that Lawson is available, Collison’s projected fantasy outlook takes a slight hit but remains a viable option in tournaments on the late slates.

Booker and Kilpatrick will both be rested and will not play in tonight’s game against the New Orleans Pelicans. Justin Hamilton will draw the start at power forward alongside Brook Lopez and is now certainly a viable option this evening. However, with Booker, Kilpatrick, and Jeremy Lin off the court this season, Bojan Bogdanovic actually leads the Nets starters with a positive 3.9% usage rate differential (27.3%). Bogdanovic can be extremely scoring reliant but is certainly worth a look in tournaments given New Orleans’ struggles with opposing small forwards this season.

Patterson and Nogueira will not play in tonight’s game against the Charlotte Hornets after previously being listed as doubtful on the Raptors’ injury report with a strained left knee and concussion, respectively. Prior to his injury, Patterson was recently inserted into the Raptors’ starting lineup, replacing the duo of Lucas Nogueira and Norman Powell, who each recently had stints with the starting unit. With Nogueira also ruled out, Norman Powell will replace Pascal Siakam in the starting lineup, sliding DeMarre Carroll down to power forward. Theoretically, given how thin Toronto is in the front court, Jonas Valanciunas should see near 30 minutes of playing time in a great matchup with Cody Zeller and the Charlotte frontcourt, but his minutes are always too volatile for him to be confidently recommended as anything other than tournament option.

Just updating a previous report. Tony Parker did travel to Cleveland and the team is hopeful that he will play against the Cavs, but have officially listed him as questionable. Dejounte Murray would go back to the bench if Parker were to return on Saturday. Look for another update from the team tomorrow.

Davis is expected to be available to play in tonight’s game against the Philadelphia 76ers after previously being listed as probable on the Trail Blazers’ injury report with a sprained right ankle that forced him to miss one game. In his absence, Noah Vonleh played 18 minutes, and both he and Davis will continue to split the backup frontcourt minutes along with Meyers Leonard. Essentially, all three forwards are out of daily fantasy consideration when everyone is healthy.

Watson will draw the start at shooting guard for tonight’s game against the Milwaukee Bucks, replacing the injured Evan Fournier and Jodie Meeks, and the latter is expected to miss four to six weeks after spraining two ligaments in his right thumb in Wednesday’s loss to the New Orleans Pelicans. Meeks had been starting in place of Fournier for the last three games, and with Fournier officially ruled out, Watson should be expected to handle a majority of the minutes at shooting guard. However, he is a volatile daily fantasy option that doesn’t realistically possess an attainable ceiling. D.J. Augustin can also be expected to absorb some shooting guard minutes in addition to his normal backup point guard role. According to our CourtIQ tool, Augustin owns a positive 4.2% usage rate differential (25.6%) with Meeks and Fournier off the court this season. Augustin is an intriguing value play on tonight’s slate, despite coming off the bench, and should see at least 25 minutes of action at or near the stone minimum across the industry.

The Sixers have been desperately searching for help at the PG spot, and Williams could act as a veteran presence on an otherwise young team. It’s also possible that this move is strictly business – this signing gets the Sixers $2.2 million closer to the salary floor – so we’ll have to see how the rotation shakes out during Williams’ first few games with the team. Philly also has Chasson Randle on a 10-day deal at the moment, and he’s probably still ahead of Williams for playing time behind the likes of T.J. McConnell and Sergio Rodriguez.
