Kelly Olynyk (shoulder) officially ruled out tonight; Al Horford and Jae Crowder remain out
Olynyk appeared as questionable on the Celtics’ injury report Saturday but will ultimately not make his season debut tonight against Denver. However, the Celtics are optimistic that Olynyk will be available to play in Wednesday’s game against Washington. Brad Stevens will have to continue to rely on the same starting lineup from Thursday while Horford and Crowder remain out. Boston will once again will start Isaiah Thomas, Avery Bradley, Jaylen Brown, Amir Johnson, and Tyler Zeller this evening.
As reported by: Sean Grande Other tagged players: Al Horford, Jae CrowderDeron Williams (calf) ruled out tonight
Williams has been officially ruled out for tonight’s game against Milwaukee, after previously being listed as questionable with a calf injury. With Dirk Nowitzki already ruled out, J.J. Barea and Seth Curry will likely be inserted into the starting five, in his and Williams’ absence. This would fit the trend of Carlisle rolling with a three-guard starting lineup when one of Nowitzki or Andrew Bogut are ruled out. Though, Justin Anderson is also a candidate to draw the start if the Mavericks decide to run out a more conventional starting five. Based on upside alone, Curry would be the preferred target of the two regardless of the Dallas starting lineup.
As reported by: Mark FollowillRudy Gay (ribs) will attempt to play tonight; Anthony Tolliver (knee) ruled out
Gay went through pre-game warmups and will try to give it a go tonight, though he will wear protective gear for his rib cartilage strain. He is an easy fade in all formats tonight. Omri Casspi will once again start in Gay’s place, along with Ty Lawson, Arron Afflalo, Kousta Koufos, and DeMarcus Cousins. Casspi returned from an illness two games ago and has immediately reversed roles with Barnes, averaging 23 minutes per game compared to 11 minutes for Barnes. In Barnes’ defense, he has been limited by some rib soreness in those contests, so it’s unclear if this minute trend will continue. It’s difficult to really consider Casspi as anything other than a tournament flier tonight, as he has a tough matchup against the Raptors wing defense and Sacramento is playing their eighth game in 12 days.
As reported by: Gary Gerould Other tagged players: Anthony TolliverRudy Gay (ribs) and Anthony Tolliver (knee) both listed as doubtful for tonight
Gay and Tolliver are listed as doubtful for tonight’s game against Toronto after missing Saturday’s game against Milwaukee. Omri Casspi is once again projected to start in Gay’s place, along with Ty Lawson, Arron Afflalo, Kousta Koufos, and DeMarcus Cousins. Casspi returned from an illness two games ago and has immediately reversed roles with Barnes, averaging 23 minutes per game compared to 11 minutes for Barnes. As reported by: CSN Bay Area Other tagged players: Anthony TolliverMike Conley (Achilles) listed in starting lineup for today
Conley was previously listed as questionable for today’s game against the Trail Blazers, but is apparently good to go, as he is listed as a projected starter along with Tony Allen, Chandler Parsons, JaMychal Green, and Marc Gasol. This is the first time Memphis will have their preferred starting five on the court together, though Parsons will remain on a minute restriction for the foreseeable future. This could be a sneaky spot to roll out James Ennis in tournaments with Parsons back, as the masses will likely avoid the situation entirely.
As reported by: Peter EdmistonMarvin Williams (illness) questionable for tomorrow; Roy Hibbert (knee) remains out
Williams didn’t participate in practice today with what’s being called a viral infection and is listed as questionable for tomorrow night’s game against the Pacers. Hibbert has already been ruled out, so Williams’ potential absence would leave the Charlotte frontcourt extremely thin. This would immediately make presumed starting power forward, Frank Kaminsky, an elite value play and a borderline cash game lock for tomorrow’s slate. Michael Kidd-Gilchrist would also see a boost in projected fantasy output, as he would see more time at the four and have more opportunities to accumulate rebounds and other peripheral stats.
As reported by: Rick Bonnell Other tagged players: Roy HibbertDeron Williams (calf) remains questionable for tonight's game
Rick Carlisle is quickly vaulting himself into contention for the most hated NBA coach among daily fantasy players, as he claimed Williams was “questionable at best” prior to yesterday’s game against Portland. Williams went on to only play a whopping 37 minutes in the loss. However, Williams reportedly suffered a different injury to his left calf, and is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against Milwaukee. With Dirk Nowitzki already ruled out for the next week, J.J. Barea and Seth Curry will likely be inserted into the starting five, if Williams is actually unable to go. This would fit the trend of Carlisle rolling with a three-guard starting lineup when one of Nowitzki or Andrew Bogut are ruled out.
As reported by: Tim MacMahonWill Barton (ankle) ruled out for tonight
Barton will miss his third straight game with a sprained ankle after reportedly being “close to returning”. We should expect Gary Harris to draw the start at shooting guard once again in Barton’s absence, though he will likely remain on some variation of his minutes restriction of 15-20 minutes. The Nuggets guards finds themselves in a tough matchup against Boston’s backcourt, but their frontcourt defense remains extremely exploitable, putting Nikola Jokic and Jusuf Nurkic firmly into tournament consideration this evening.
As reported by: Harrison WindGordon Hayward confirmed as starter; will have no minutes restriction in his season debut
Hayward will start in today’s game against New York, as expected, after missing every game so far this season with a broken finger. Hayward won’t have any sort of a strict minutes limit, but will have his “endurance monitored”. Since he was only recovering from a broken bone in his finger and not an injury that would prohibit his ability to remain in basketball shape, he should be a full go. The matchup, pace, and Vegas total is less than ideal, however, so Hayward may better reserved as a play another day.
As reported by: Tony JonesLance Thomas (ankle) will be available to play today
After missing Friday’s game against Chicago with an ankle sprain, Thomas will reportedly be available to today versus Utah. If playing the early slate on DraftKings or FanDuel, there are better options than Thomas, as the Knicks second unit has really struggled to start the season and the Jazz are one of the most difficult defensive matchups in basketball.
As reported by: Al IannazzoneAnthony Tolliver (knee) ruled out
Tolliver will not play in tonight’s game against Milwaukee with a knee issue. Tolliver joins Rudy Gay and Matt Barnes as a member of the Kings’ walking wounded. However, Barnes will reportedly play through his sore ribs, albeit in a likely limited fashion. There hasn’t been any confirmation on just how many minutes Barnes will be able to play, but it’s safe to say that Omri Casspi is already the best value play on the entire slate, regardless of Barnes’ status.
As reported by: Jason JonesOmri Casspi confirmed as the starter in place of the injured Rudy Gay
Casspi will draw the start at small forward tonight against Milwaukee in place of Rudy Gay, as expected. Casspi returned from an illness last game and immediately reversed roles with Matt Barnes, accumulating 23 minutes compared to Barnes’ nine. Casspi seems to be our preferred target this evening, with Barnes reportedly being limited by rib soreness. Fire up Casspi in all formats with confidence.
As reported by: Grant NapearMike Conley (Achilles) questionable for Sunday
Conley is listed as questionable for tomorrow’s game against the Trail Blazers, with an apparent left Achilles “issue”. Conley may end up sitting as a precautionary measure more than anything else. Wade Baldwin could be worth a look in tournaments even if Conley is able to give it a go on Sunday. If Conley is indeed ruled out, Baldwin becomes a surefire cash game punt in a plus matchup versus Portland.
As reported by: @GrizzliesTomas Satoransky confirmed as the starting PG tonight in place of John Wall (rest)
Satoransky will indeed draw the start tonight against Orlando in place of the resting John Wall. This move was fairly predictable, as Satoransky played nearly 23 minutes at backup point guard in last night’s game against Toronto, while Trey Burke logged just under seven minutes. Satoransky is shaping up to be one of the best value plays on the board in cash games, though it’s hard to see him providing the necessary upside in tournaments given the inflated ownership.
As reported by: Candace Buckner Other tagged players: John WallMatt Barnes (ribs) will play tonight, though he likely will be limited
With Rudy Gay already ruled out with a rib cartilage strain, it’s becoming more and more likely that Omri Casspi will be inserted into the starting lineup and see a substantial increase in minutes with Matt Barnes being reportedly limited with rib soreness. Kings coach Dave Joerger openly admitted to playing Barnes too many minutes during this grueling opening stretch of the season for Sacramento. Hopefully, we receive further clarification regarding Barnes’ limitations prior to lock, so we can know how to approach this situation from a fantasy standpoint. As of now, Casspi is the best value play on the entire slate.
