Kyle Anderson starting for Jonathon Simmons
Anderson will draw that start at shooting guard tonight against the Jazz. With Simmons struggled mightily in their prior meeting with Utah, coach Gregg Popovich is looking to shake things up, as they will already be without the resting Tony Parker. Combining Anderson’s lack of usage and difficult matchup, he is an easy fade on tonight’s late slate, unless truly in a bind on late swap sites.

Lance Thomas (ankle) ruled out
Thomas won’t suit up for tonight’s game against Chicago with a sprained ankle. He was typically seeing substantial minutes as one of the first players off the Knicks’ bench, so it does remain unclear how those minutes will be allocated. The starters should see a heavy dose of minutes, barring a blowout, but also look for Justin Holiday to absorb some of the vacated wing minutes in Thomas’s absence.

Pierce was previously doubtful for tonight’s game against the Grizzles, but is apparently ready to go and will be active. Though Pierce is “active” it’s highly unlikely he finds his way into the 10-man rotation Doc Rivers has been deploying thus far this season right away. It’s safe to avoid Pierce and all the Clippers (outside of maybe Blake Griffin) in this pace down matchup on the road at Memphis.

Parsons is reportedly expected to make his season debut within the Grizzlies next two games, though Tuesday’s game against the Nuggets seems to be the most likely candidate. It’s unclear if Parsons will enter the starting lineup right away, but is minutes are all but guaranteed to be closely monitored by the Grizzlies’ coaching staff for an extended period of time, as they will want to be ultra careful with their prized off-season free agent signing upon his return.

Richardson has been cleared by doctors to play in tonight’s game, and is active, but coach Erik Spoelstra told reporters that he is unsure if Richardson will actually see time on the court in this contest. This is a murky situation that we can easily avoid as the Heat have a tough defensive matchup with the Raptors in what should be one of the slower paced games on the slate. Josh McRoberts also remains out with a foot injury.

Jones will start his first game of the season tonight at power forward for the Pelicans as they take on Phoenix at home. Jones is drawing the start in place of Dante Cunningham, who is suspended for tonight’s game. Jones could end up playing in the range of 24-30 minutes tonight, vaulting him into consideration for all formats with his low price tag across the major sites.

Whitehead will draw the start at point guard tonight against Charlotte. However, Whitehead may just be a starter in name only, as Randy Foye is set to make his season debut tonight as well. Foye is more than capable of handling the point guard duties if Whitehead were to struggle or if the Nets simply want to roll with a backcourt duo of Foye and Sean Kilpatrick instead. Whitehead and Foye are better reserved as tournament punts until the Nets’ backcourt rotation becomes more clear in Jeremy Lin’s absence.

Wizards’ coach Scott Brooks stated today that he would like to give Morris more playing time with the team’s second unit in order to increase their offensive efficiency. We’ll have to wait and see exactly how these staggered minutes will help Morris’ usage and fantasy production, but they should provide a slight bump to his value tonight and possibly even going forward.

McDermott has officially passed the concussion protocol and will play tonight against New York. Denzel Valentine and Jerian Grant look to be the rotation casualties with McDermott back for the Bulls, as neither of them played a significant role in his absence. Dougie Buckets has been playing the sixth man role for Chicago and makes for a viable tournament option if looking to save some salary at the small forward position this evening.

Darrell Arthur has not played yet this season but could return in a limited capacity. Expect Kenneth Faried to see a slight dip in his minutes with Arthur returning. Nikola Jokic and Jusuf Nurkic could become more risky as well with the return of Arthur. Don’t use Arthur for GPPs just yet but this a situation we must monitor because Jokic and Nurkic are great GPP options on the right night.

Gary Harris has not played yet this season as he recovers from a groin injury. Will Barton missed the previous game with an ankle injury and is expected to be out an extended period of time. Jamal Murray started at SG and had a lackluster performance on Thursday night. The Nuggets will be traveling to Detriot for their game against the Pistons on Saturday. Murray seems like a viable deep GPP option but is too risky for anything more with the Nuggets playing again on Sunday.

Timofey Mozgov is feeling better and will be seeing a doctor later in the day regarding his eye. He has been upgraded to a game-time decision, but hopefully we learn something before lineups lock. If Mozgov does return to the court, Larry Nance could see a dip in his value. Nance has exceeded value ever since Mozgov got hurt. This might not be the best time to jump on the Nance train since Mozgov seems likelier to play than not. Still, Nance is only priced at 4k on DraftKings and 3.9k on FanDuel, making it easy for him to at least hit value, but the ceiling seemed capped. Look for another update regarding this situation.

The Spurs guard will miss at least a week with a knee injury including their game tonight against the Jazz. Patty Mills will likely start at PG and is in consideration as a punt option.

Dante Cunningham suspended for one game; OUT tonight for Pelicans
After pleading guilty to negligent driving, Cunningham has been suspended by the league for one game and will miss tonight’s game against the Suns. Lance Stephenson, who played 45 minutes on Wednesday, and Terrence Jones (who logged nearly 30 in the same game) are the biggest beneficiaries and both are reasonable value options.

McDermott is still in the concussion protocol and his status for tonight’s game against the Knicks is up in the air. He’s not a viable DFS option but his absence should add a few minutes for Nikola Mirotic who is a high-risk option with some upside. We’ll update you on McDermott’s status when we learn more.
