Jeremy Lin practices; questionable for Hornets on Friday
Lin took part in the team practice today but stated he wouldn’t know until tomorrow whether he would play or not. We’ll update his status tomorrow when more information becomes available.

Norris Cole remains questionable for Pelicans
Cole hasn’t played in over three weeks and remains questionable for the Pelicans heading into their game against the Nuggets tonight. He’d be a fine target at under $6k on both sites if he does play, especially given how depleted the Pelicans are which should mean an uptick in usage. If he is unable to go, Toney Douglas and Tim Frazier will continue to split time and both are viable options – Frazier has actually been the better option of the two of late given his cheaper price tag and production (he’s topped 20 FanDuel fpts in five of eight games). We’ll update you on Cole’s status later today when more news comes in.

It looks like the Magic are nearing full health as Vucevic and Ilyasova will both be available to play tonight. They will come off the bench and be eased back into their roles and as such are not viable DFS options. Their return also removes Jason Smith and Dewayne Dedmon from DFS consideration. Andrew Nicholson has been playing great of late with 20+ fpts in six of his last seven but the return of these two could put a damper on his value as well. It’s pretty much a situation to avoid, especially given Head Coach Scott Skiles and his inconsistent rotations.

Nurkic has missed the last two games due to illness and will miss another tonight as well. Nikola Jokic and Joffrey Lauvergne will both receive an uptick in minutes and are secondary DFS options going against a depleted Pelicans team that is 29th in C DvP. Lauvergne’s playing time is a bit too shaky (only 16 minutes last night) to trust but he might see an uptick on the second half of a back-to-back. Jokic is the preferred target of the two as his playing time is much more consistent (at least 20 minutes in 10 straight games). Both are risky plays, however, even with the juicy match up, given their Head Coach’s inconsistent rotations.

Irving and Smith missed the team shoot around this morning due to illness and are considered game-time decisions for the Cavaliers game tonight against the Brooklyn Nets. If those two are unable to go, Matthew Dellavedova and Iman Shumpert would be the biggest beneficiaries, especially if Mo Williams is still on a minutes limitation. We’ll update the status of Irving and Smith as soon as more information comes in.

The Nets will rest Lopez and Hollis-Jefferson tonight against the Cavaliers in what is a tough match up regardless as the Cavs are one of the elite defenses in the league, especially against opposing bigs. Thaddeus Young receives a usage bump (from 22.2% to 26% per nbawowy) when Lopez is off the court so he should score a few more points. Thomas Robinson and Willie Reed will also likely receive additional playing time and are value options. However, be wary of rostering those two as they will 1) likely be over-owned due to the early nature of this news and 2) are going against a Cavaliers team that is top in the league in both PF and C DvP.

The news broke late last night that the Clippers would be resting Chris Paul, J.J. Redick, and DeAndre Jordan on the second half of a back-to-back when the Clippers take on the Thunder tonight. This definitely opens up value opportunities on the Clippers as the likes of Austin Rivers, Pablo Prigioni, and Cole Aldrich will all receive extended run as a result. The best play, however, is probably Jamal Crawford who will be tasked more ball handling responsibility, get more playing time, and whose usage is 25.7% (per nbawowy) when the resting three are off the court. It’s a tough match up and there is blow out potential, but the value is there if you’re willing to stomach the risk.

Justise Winslow will play against the Lakers. Winslow is likely going to play about 30 minutes again on Wednesday. Winslow will continue to come off the bench, making him a tournament target only.

Justise Winslow suffered a minor knee injury against the Nets on Monday. Winslow looks to be healthy enough to play against the Lakers on Wednesday. Winslow is a viable punt target against the Lakers and he should see 30+ minutes for the tenth consecutive game.

Markieff Morris will play on the second night of a back-to-back. Morris was able to return value against the Warriors and should be able to do at least that much against the Kings. Morris’ playing time has been erratic lately but he still is a viable tournament target with his asking price at $5k on DK. Alan Anderson has been ruled out, he will miss his sixth game in a row.

Tyson Chandler was questionable to play against the Bucks but has been confirmed as the starter. Chandler is not a low-end DFS target with his asking price still slightly elevated compared to his performance. Look for Chandler to play around 20-24 minutes on Wednesday with Jon Leuer being used as his backup. Leuer is a tournament option only and should be used with caution coming off an absolute stinker.

Greivis Vasquez has been out since December as he recovers from ankle surgery. Vasquez is not a viable option until he cracks the rotation and sees consistent minutes. With Jason Kidd stating that he would like Giannis Antetokounmpo to play as a point guard, there is not much work left for Vasquez.

Jason Thompson will replace Luis Scola for the second time this season. Thompson is a viable punt target with his salary at a minimum across the industry. Luis Scola should return on Friday against the Grizzlies. Kyle Lowry has been confirmed as the starter but is dealing with an elbow issue.

Zach Randolph will likely resume his starting position on Wednesday against the Nuggets. Randolph is averaging 32.5 fpts against the Nuggets this season and makes for a nice tournament option. Randolph’s ownership will likely be low due to the news coming out so late. Expect Randolph to play 30+ minutes with the Grizzlies fighting for a spot in the playoffs. JaMychal Green is expected to return to the bench.

Porzingis won’t take the court tonight against the Mavericks due to a sore right shoulder. Derrick Williams is set to start in his place and he makes for a very nice upside GPP target, but he’s been fairly volatile in his spot starts this season. Carmelo Anthony may shoulder even more of the offensive burden tonight and he’s an excellent target in any format against a short-handed Mavericks team. Melo owns a 30.4% usage rate with Porzingis off the floor dating back to January 1st – Derrick Williams owns the second highest mark since that point at 23.3.
