Gordon Hayward is a contrarian SF option tonight

Well welcome back to the grind tonight as we get a nice little three-game slate to ease us back into things after the NBA All-Star Break! We will dive right in and explore an option at SF that seems to be a little over looked tonight. While SF is normally pretty weak on a short slate like today, there are a few top options that are worth paying up for. A lot of people will be paying up for LeBron James and Kawhi Leonard, and rightly so, but Gordon Hayward is not being talked about enough in a great matchup vs. the Wizards. Washington has let up some HUGE games to opposing wing players in the last few weeks, and they are 26th and 28th in defending SGs and SFs respectively. Needless to say this is a big bump to Rodney Hood as well as Hayward in what should be an extremely up-tempo game for the Jazz. Look at Gordon Hayward in your tournaments as a nice contrarian option for tonight.

James Johnson

Indiana Pacers
2/18/16, 6:32 PM ET

James Johnson (ankle) to play on Friday

James Johnson missed four games with an ankle injury and should be starting again on Friday. Norman Powell was starting in his place but was not able to provide much of a DFS impact. With Johnson back in the lineup, Terrence Ross’ value also takes a hit. Ross averaged 14 points and three rebounds in 28 minutes during Johnson’s absence. Johnson is a low-end DFS option on Friday with his unpolished offensive game.

Gary Neal

Gary Neal officially ruled out for tonight

Gary Neal has been officially ruled out with a leg injury and will miss his third consecutive game. Neal was not much of a DFS option so expect Garrett Temple to pick up some extra minutes. Temple is a low-end tournament option tonight with only three games on the slate.

Larry Nance Jr.

Indiana Pacers
2/18/16, 5:07 PM ET

Larry Nance (knee) to play on Friday

Larry Nance missed the previous six games with his knee injury but has been cleared to play on Friday. Nance will come off the bench with Julius Randle playing so well in Nance’s absence. Nance is a low-end DFS option and should not be considered with 14 games being played.

Tony Parker

Charlotte Hornets
2/18/16, 5:26 PM ET

Tony Parker (ankle) expected to play tonight

Tony Parker missed the last game prior to the All-Star break, but has rested enough and is expected to play tonight. Parker has not been a consistent fantasy option this season, still he can be worth a roster spot in multi-entry tournaments with only three games on the slate. With the Spurs having plenty of rest over the break, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Pop give Parker and Duncan extended run (30-33 minutes), so they are nice contrarian GPP targets. Parker is especially appealing at 4.8K on DraftKings (Duncan sits at just 5K and is equally appealing).

Joel Anthony

Sixers get Joel Anthony and a second round pick from Houston

Joel Anthony is expected to be waived by the Sixers. Still, the deal was made to acquire Denver’s first-round pick that Houston was holding. Joel Anthony came to Houston from Detriot in the deal for Donatas Motiejunas.

Lance Stephenson

Indiana Pacers
2/18/16, 4:43 PM ET

The Clippers trade Lance Stephenson to the Grizzlies for Jeff Green

The Clippers have sent Lance Stephenson and a future first round pick to the Grizzlies. In return, Jeff Green will be going to Los Angeles and fills a major void. Green should be considered an elite DFS option until his salary spikes to an unreasonable amount. Green will not be available tonight against the Spurs.

Kirk Hinrich

Atlanta Hawks
2/18/16, 4:33 PM ET

Kirk Hinrich has been traded to the Hawks

The Bulls have sent Kirk Hinrich to the Hawks for a second-round draft pick. Hinrich is not much of a DFS option with Dennis Schroder entrenched as the Hawks backup PG.

Al Horford

Al Horford has not been traded to the Raptors

Refuting an earlier report, Al Horford has not been traded to the Raptors.

Markieff Morris

Los Angeles Lakers
2/18/16, 5:24 PM ET

Markieff Morris has been traded to the Wizards

The Suns have struck a deal with the Wizards and will move mercurial forward Markieff Morris for DeJuan Blair, Kris Humphries, and a protected first round pick. Morris will have to prove himself, but a change of scenery could return him to last year’s form. Morris will not be available for tonight’s game against the Jazz, but could play on Friday against the Pistons. It’s still unclear how he’ll fit in the Washington rotation with Nene Hilario and Marcin Gortat healthy, but he should have a chance to earn steady minutes. It may not come right away though, and he may not be in the starting lineup until he gets acclimated with his new team.

Greg Monroe

Minnesota Timberwolves
2/18/16, 5:30 PM ET

Greg Monroe and Michael Carter-Williams to come off the bench on Friday

The Bucks were able to pull out victories prior to the All-Star break with Monroe and Carter-Williams coming off the bench. To keep the momentum going, the Bucks will continue to start O.J. Mayo and Miles Plumlee. Mayo and Plumlee are low-end DFS options while Monroe and Carter-Williams are viable options against the Hornets on Friday. Monroe is in the better spot as he’ll have the advantage offensively over the Hornets bigs.

Jerryd Bayless

Minnesota Timberwolves
2/18/16, 3:37 PM ET

Jerryd Bayless (knee) questionable for Friday

Jerryd Bayless hyper-extended his knee in practice and is questionable to play Friday against the Hornets. With Michael Carter-Williams still expected to come off the bench, Bayless’ absence will boost his value. MCW is a solid option due the fact that O.J. Mayo has not played well even in the starting position. Also, look for Khris Middleton to get over 32 minutes again on Friday with the Bucks dealing with multiple injuries.

Brian Roberts

Charlotte Hornets
2/18/16, 3:48 PM ET

Brian Roberts has been traded to the Trail Blazers

The Heat have traded newly-acquired guard Brian Roberts to the Trail Blazers. The Heat have been trying to get under the tax line with their moves and have included a 2nd round pick in the deal. Roberts is not much of a DFS option and will likely only be used sparingly to back up Damian Lillard. Lillard is averaging 36 minutes on the season, so Roberts will not be playing much.

As reported by: Adrian Wojnarowski Other tagged players: Damian Lillard

Brandan Wright

Houston Rockets
2/18/16, 3:31 PM ET

Brandan Wright and Chris Andersen have been cleared to play on Friday

Brandan Wright has been dealing with a knee injury for most of the season and has not played since early November. With Marc Gasol out of the lineup, Wright will make for an elite punt option on Friday. Wright could have his minutes limited in the beginning, but will be a hot DFS play until his salary spikes.

As reported by: Ronald Tillery Other tagged players: Chris Andersen

Courtney Lee

Dallas Mavericks
2/18/16, 3:24 PM ET

Courtney Lee ruled out for Friday

Courtney Lee was not able to practice with the Hornets today due to his physical being held at the same time. With Lee out of the lineup, Jeremy Lin will likely start in his place. Lin is a solid play against the Bucks, but with 14 games on the slate, there could be better options.
