Luol Deng expected to play on Tuesday
Luol Deng is dealing with an illness but is expected to play tonight against the Spurs. It’s a brutal match-up for the Heat and they can be ignored for the most part, unless you’re sprinkling in some Bosh/Whiteside in GPPs. Otto Porter and Harrison Barnes are both in Deng’s price range, but there are better $/point targets in much better spots. Justise Winslow would have been an intriguing punt play without Deng in the lineup, but he’s no longer a DFS option tonight.

Amar'e Stoudemire will remain in the starting lineup tonight
Amar’e Stoudemire is still in the starting lineup tonight against the Spurs. Stoudemire is a low-end punt option and could see about 17-20 minutes tonight. Hassan Whiteside looks like he will play but will come off the bench, making him a tournament option only. Stoudemire’s value is tied to Whiteside’s status, so if you’re considering Stoudemire, make sure to closely track news regarding Whiteside.

Lance Thomas missed a game due to a concussion but has been cleared for tonight’s game against the Wizards. Thomas is a minimum salary player and doesn’t have to do much to exceed value tonight. Still, Thomas is a risky play and should be used sparingly due to the fact that he has averaged about 24 minutes in his last five games and has not exceeded value. With Melo healthy, he’s a DFS afterthought.

Despite the short slate, there are a few superstars in action tonight that you may want to pay up for. One of those superstars is Carmelo, who takes on a Wizards squad that has struggled mightily against wings. Given that this game is expected to stay close throughout, Anthony’s playing time doesn’t appear to be in any jeopardy, which is great news considering this will be a pace-up game for the Knicks. Whenever there is a coaching change, teams have a tendency to rely on their superstar slightly more which means Carmelo would get another slight bump in value. The knee injury is a bit of a concern, but it looks like all the stars might be aligning for Anthony to have a great game.
Kyle Anderson ruled out for Tuesday
Kyle Anderson has been ruled out of Tuesday’s game with the Heat. He’d been seeing around 17-20 minutes of run in the few games that Manu Ginobili has missed, so that playing time now figures to go to a combination of Jonathan Simmons, Danny Green and Rasual Butler. None of the three are recommended DFS targets, but Danny Green does have some GPP appeal given the short-slate and his price tag on both major sites.

Noah Vonleh (ankle) probable for Wednesday
Noah Vonleh is now listed as probable for Wednesday’s contest against the Rockets. Vonleh’s return will hurt the value of Meyers Leonard and Ed Davis. Moe Harkless may also go back to playing sparingly. Trail Blazers coach Terry Stotts is not one we can predict, so the situation is best left avoided as the last game of the night.

Marc Gasol has been diagnosed with a broken foot after exiting last night’s game early. Zach Randolph and Jeff Green will both see a bump in value with Gasol out – Randolph gets the bigger bump as he’ll see more court time thanks to the lack of depth behind Gasol at center. JaMychal Green will also see some more minutes with Ryan Hollins also getting into the mix. Brandon Wright is still out from his knee surgery so he will not be in action for another couple weeks. Matt Barnes can also play power forward in a small-ball lineup and should see value jump as well.

O.J. Mayo will be returning from an eleven-game absence tonight to face the Celtics. Mayo will be a risky play and should be avoided until we see what kind of minutes he will receive. Mayo’s return will likely mean less minutes for Khris Middleton, who had been averaging 38 minutes over his last four games. Middleton should only be used in tournaments and is not a top option with so many good shooting guards available tonight. Jerryd Bayless will be playing tonight and has not missed a game since missing six in early January. With Bayless playing about 25 minutes in his last five contests, Michael Carter-Williams will be a tough option to recommend until his salary falls further. John Henson will miss another game with his back injury which opens the door for Miles Plumlee to be a good punt option. Plumlee is averaging 16.9 FPs on DK over his last five games which would provide value on his $3,100 salary. Plumlee has a ceiling of about 21 FPs with a floor of about 6 FPs.

Derrick Rose missed Monday’s game with general soreness but is on track to play on Wednesday against the Hawks. With Jimmy Butler being ruled out for an extended period of time, Rose should see his usage spike. Rose’s salary will likely go up from here and should be used before it gets to an unplayable level. The Bulls will likely be in tight game with the Hawks which could lead to Rose playing 28-32 minutes.

James Harden was not on the injury report and went through shootaround earlier today. Harden will be in the lineup and will likely be heavily owned due to high O/U. Harden is a solid cash play tonight but there are many options to pivot to for tournaments. If the Rockets keep it close, Harden should see over 30 minutes tonight, allowing him to make value.

Blake Griffin will be suspended and fined for an altercation with a team employee. Griffin broke his hand in the incident and will start serving his suspension after he is healthy enough to return to the team. Griffin had a timetable to return in 4-6 weeks, which could be sometime in March.

Tiago Splitter will miss his sixth consecutive game with a hip injury. Mike Scott and Mike Muscala have been splitting the backup big man minutes with Splitter out. Scott and Muscala are still not DFS considerations against the Bulls on Wednesday. Al Horford will likely play a ton of minutes, with it being the last game for the Hawks before the All-Star break. Horford is an elite target on Wednesday against the Bulls

Thomas Robinson is listed as probable for Wednesday’s game with the Grizzlies. Robinson racked up 11 boards in 17 minutes on Monday and while his playing time probably won’t hit that mark again, he’ll likely see between 10-12 minutes of court time behind Thad Young and Brook Lopez. Robinson isn’t a DFS option.

It seems like these three have had the same injury designations for weeks. It’s very likely that all three sit out through the all-star break, but Kevin Martin does appear to have a shot to suit up tomorrow night. With Pekovic and Garnett out of the lineup, Karl-Anthony Towns and Gorgui Dieng will continue to see big minutes in the front-court, making both of them strong targets in any format. Assuming Martin sits again, Zach LaVine and Shabazz Muhammad will see a little extra run, but neither are recommended DFS targets.
